  1. Ruth used to be quite a common name, same as Jane,Janet etc, however having biblical association it sort of died out. Names are cyclic, they come and go.How many Berts (either Bertrand or Alberts) do you get nowadays? 80 years ago it was one of the most common masculine names about. In france we went through a period where 8 kids out of 10 had a Breton name, now half of them are associated with yank TV shows, mostly spelt wrongly though. At one time the "Etat Civil" could refuse a child's given name if they thought there was no real reason for giving it (we have some friends who call their 3rd daughter Fannely but her name is Caroline because the mairie refused their choice) but now it seems you can do much as you like.
  2. Peggy is a diminutive of Margaret, don't ask me why.
  3. Even the home gates are down now that there's nothing to hurl continual abuse at the players about.
  4. Think so yes, didn't notice Harding anywhere so it must be Fox
  5. I don't trust any of these stream links, last one I tried my anti-spyware just closed it down without even a prompt, most of them are dodgy. I mean where are they going to get the stream from if there's no televison outlet anywhere?
  6. so Richardson back in, Cork in midfield,Bart,Martin,Morgan,Chappers,De Ridder on the bench.
  7. I think we'll win in the end but that it will be one almighty struggle, bit like last week really, say 2-1 Saints.
  8. English football is shown on Canal+, yesterday we had Blackburn-Arsenal and today there's Man U-Chelsea. On a normal week-end Canal + (or Canal + Sport) shows somewhere between 2 and 5 EPL matches, there's always the Monday game as well. This season L'Equipe TV (Channel 83 on Canal Sat plus some Cable outlets) shows 1 or 2 NPC matches, Saints haven't been on yet although I think we were due to be up yesterday but it changed to Forest-Derby "en differé" after we were moved to Sunday.
  9. Boro' looking ominous though, they'll be the team to compete with for promotion this season.
  10. failed to beat Man U as well.Flash in the pan though that.
  11. I am really pleased for RL that he's had such a great start to the season, I was a doubter,no point in not admitting it,but I think he has silenced all his critics (few that there were) with his adaptation to the new level. Perhaps all that talk of us signing a 5/6/7 million £ striker gee'd him up a bit, hope it works the same with Barnard. Perhaps Connolly helps RL though.
  12. I had the original hydroflow version of the GTS,Brooks gave them to me to try, trouble is the fluid envelope wasn't really strong enough at the joints and it leaked, filled in a report and they corrected it pretty quickly.Ran London in them though, ended up with sore feet and fluorescent green socks.
  13. Well I'd not say that I actually collect them, all those that I have I've bought to run with, true there have been a few busts in the lot, totally useless for running, full of gimmicks. There were years (long long ago) when I was actually good enough to get a few free pairs (Asics and Mizuno when they were starting out in Europe). Anyway all my running shoes have memories attached to them and when they're knackered for running well they're OK for gardening and shopping.
  14. Cork looked totally out of sorts, except when he was going down the right wing. Not sure that he would have been any better in midfield. That said Miller and Derbyshire looked really handy (and so they should) and Majewski looked very quick and very sharp.MaClaren may moan but they've got good players at Forest and they've been in the play-offs these past two seasons. I consider our win on saturday as a great result,no matter how it was obtained, who starred and who looked ordinary. This was about a win from a team above all else.
  15. to be honest I think many posters were more interested in our "deboires" and continual take-over speculation than in actually football related stuff.
  16. I saw a woman the other day who seemed to have flowers tattooed on her tits, mind you there was enough space for the entire Kew Gardens catalogue.
  17. Washing plimmies? what ever happened to just daubing that chalky white liquid stuff onto them the evening before PE lessons. Anyway all those of you who have ever had a pair of Nike trainers will know they smell of cat's **** once they've become wet just one time.
  18. Running shoes should never be washed in the machine. EVA is in fact a very viscous liquid and washing it at any consequent temperature will cause it to harden and become useless. Of course yer average Polyurethane based trainer can be machine washed.
  19. Ahh I see, I'm a bit of a trainer freak, I keep them all in an old crate the barn when I've worn them out for running.
  20. Worcs lost their last 7 wickets for 33 and didn't make 300,not sure that our situation is really any more hopeful though,we'll need to make 600 in a day and then skittle Warks for under 100 to profit from Worcs's bevue.
  21. Depends on the divisional games with the Jets I guess.
  22. Nike Lunar Elites (2 pairs) Nike Air Span 8 Nike LunarGlide +3 Nike Air Triax TCs (getting on a bit now) I must own 12 or 15 pairs of trainers, I must have owned a couple of hundred (or more) since I started running at 5 or 6. Didn't always have trainers though, plimsoles and spikes used to serve before the invention of Adidas Roms. Favourites ? unusable now, a pair of Adidas Marathon 86s, think you can still get them in Eastern Europe though.
  23. Relegation must now be approaching fast, with Worcs at 135/1 having obtained more bowling points than us as well I'd think that another 150 odd from them would put us down definitively come what may afterwards.
  24. what's so surprising, good manager, good team last season, good recruitment. The NPC is no great shakes, especially when you have a side disciplined enough to get you out of that footballing dungeon that is League 1. You need to seize your chance in the NPC straight after promotion to it, after that your players take on airs and graces and don't remember what a sh*t place they've just come from.
