England U21's without a player like Lallana

You can't prepare for a season's opener against Leeds by playing games against Eastleigh. We have a good pre-season programme this time round so tough luck on Eastleigh.
-
This is absolutely spot on, Golac has been our best foreign player to date by a long shot. The youth of his forum always think that we are overcritical of some of the later players and managers but if you were amongst us at the Dell in the early 80s you would understand it.Saints were magnificent in those days and most of us can't forget it.

I Would Like To See No New Signings Or Departures Of Note!

Elmander, though no doubt he could do a job in the NPC, has already signed for Galatasaray. Champion's League Football has immense pulling power, even if it's with a crap team in the back of beyond. -

What do you expect? have you never noticed the reaction on this forum to passing the ball around and keeping possession until you can burst forward even it means going sideways and backwards as well? Yer average English fan's idea of a good footballer is a 5ft 3 in central midfield player who alternates between kicking the shîte out of the opposition, shouting idiotic commands at his team mates, bursting forward into the opponents box and then losing the ball to set up a goal for the opponents and arguing with the ref. It's no wonder that Wenger didn't want Wilshere involved, he doesn't want him anywhere near Stuart Pearce football. Mancienne in CM? yer having a laugh. -
Probably not, just my memory of it then, mind you I haven't spent above 3 successive days in the old place since 1983ish.
-
He's injury prone, going on 33 and no doubt expensive and we should have nothing to do with this sort of player, haven't we learned the lesson that Burley taught us the hard way? Do we have to sell more young talent (as we did then with Jones and Bale) to pay for this lust for old has beens who'll just turn up and collect their pay an every now and again and hardly ever be fit to play.
-
Well probably because he wouldn't accept any such thing because he's a greedy bastard and isn't going to get shafted like that. He left Fulham for the wastes of Humberside for money and a fat 5 year contract so it's no surprise that it was a golden boxed deal. That's the problem with places like Hull and Middlesborough, they are such dumps that you have to pay extortionate rates to even get players to consider going there, guess pompey is the same but a bit less isolated, you can always live in Sussex or around Southampton.
-
Murray was out of contract so Brighton would have had to offer him a new one so him being sold in January wouldn't be particularly evident. He's obviously cashed in on his success by getting a good contract from palarse now instead of taking an inferior one with Brighton and waiting to see how he gets on in the NPC.
-
Why should they be? Their defence will still be solid and I think Ankergren is a good enough keeper. There are still some very poor sides to be weeded out of the NPC and Brighton will no doubt survive fairly easily. Doncaster,Barnsley and Watford would be my relegation favourites next season closely followed by Bristol City and believe it or not Blackpool, parachute payments and all, because they're going to lose a lot of players in a short time.

Isn't he supposed to be on 60K a week, think it's fairly well established to be the case. Ridiculous money for a player of his standard. In fact anything over 20K/week for a player outside the EPL is just plain stupid. The clubs just do not have the revenues to support anything more, which is why the Football league meeting the other day had,for its main agenda,a discussion on reducing debt in the Championship.NPC clubs are something like 800 million £ in debt in total. That's about 35 million £ per club and some clubs have very little debt. When you consider that most first class grade A champions league standard sides in Continental Europe have less debt than say Hull or Cardiff you have to admit that it's a problem. Ridiculously overpaid garbage brought SFC o the verge of extinction and and it should never happen to us again no matter how rich our backers are thought to be.This is why I don't want to see any of this overpaid ex prem shîte at SFC next season, if they take reasonable terms so much the better but if not, well we'll have to look farther afield.
-
Perhaps time is starting to catch up with him or perhaps he just wasn't as good as many thought he was. Had a few good years at Chelsea but was probably never ever really a top notch player.Seems to lack any sort of basic defensive skills nowadays, prehaps he's just had enough of football it happens, Cantona jacked it in at 30,so have many other great players, probably because they just don't want to go downhill and that they'll be remembered at the height of their game.
-
we have probably done quite a lot but as it seems that making the poor punter wait avidly for every drip of information is now official club policy I guess we'll just have to wait on a bit longer to find out about it all. Season tickets, shirts, players, teams for the MLMT it's all wait and see so that one is so impatient when it is revealed it seems like a jolly good thing even if it's not so much.I don't particularly care for this secret squirrel policy that we've adopted but there you go.
-
Isn't Zenden meant to be signing for QPR?? or is that supposed to be a secret.
-
Probably won't get a million for him, too hit and miss. Probably he'll return to Millwall and we'll take about 700K to get him off our hands. If he comes back to the group when the players return in a couple of weeks it will cause no end of trouble. More interested to see what we're going to do with Fish Mills myself.

Playing in lower divisions is very damaging to a player's international career, look at the attitude Mombaerts took with Morgan,he'd rather play a player of inferior quality which eventually cost them Euro U21 qualification than have anything to do with an awful standard of football. International coaches have no time for that standard of football. Any promising player in a League 1 club should fall over himself to leave it unless that club has genuine progression possibilities. Next season we shall see just how good all of our players really are, many will fall by the wayside I fear.My hot picks for abject failure in the NPC, Dickson,Lambert and Barnard. -
But then again Allardyce isn't a sh*t manager who should have been sacked after a couple of weeks in the job.
-
Of course were giving them money for vaccinations and stuff, probably for 2 reasons, the vaccines are made by British companies and if they all die of natural causes we won't be able to sell them billions of £s worth of arms to kill each other with.

Hmmmm reminds me of a conversation between Jal and Michelle "You play the clarinet,I look ****gable, it's pure talent girl, pure talent""
-
Woooooff I'd let the other bloke have her.
-
must have got confused then, it's the local alcoholic beverage I suspect, made from berries of some kind, tastes like the stuff I used to make from grape juice when I was a student but it sure gets you wasted pretty quick. Anyway one link you may all want to have a look at. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/media-watch/dalglish-eyes-saints-star

19 year old fellamelad that Liverpool gave Charlton 8 million for ?? can't remember his name, centre back.
-
Doubt that Lambert would even make a list of the top 30 or even top 50. He ain't that good. Don't forget 24x25 championship players have to be considered as well. Wonder where they would have placed the Charlton lad that Liverpool bought for 8 million last week if this list had been published a week or so earlier.

Is Cortese the best chairman in British football?
Window Cleaner replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
If Cortese was the best chairman he wouldn't employ illiterate idiots to write for the OS Sowing the seeds of success Mr Cortese, sewing is what you do to make curtains and repair torn clothes.
