  1. So then who's ****ged the Hyacinth Girl?? two Lily paps and all that.
  2. Not surprising really, with the crap bowling that we have which is proving incapable of preventing the opposition from scoring shedloads time and time again the situation inspires no confidence in anyone.See our opening bowlers have gone for 37 off of the first 5 overs or so again today. Whatever the batsmen do it won't be enough because they will always be faced with impossible totals.
  3. Even for the worst teams in the EPL the Sky dole is about 1 million £ a game isn't it? Let's you pay 20 or so mediocre players about 40K a week without taxing your gate receipts.
  4. Football at it's highest level has become gentrified, you only have to look at all the grannying about getting the same seat for every game and the zeal over season ticket renewals to see that. Top flight football has become a middle class affair and a sort of social status statement.I used to like standing on the terraces, never worrying about planning everything in advance, just turn up after the pub,pay your money and pass an agreeable couple of hours with your friends or whoever else happened to be around you in the Milton for that matter.Away games were often decided in much the same fashion, if a few fancied it in the pub on a Friday evening, well then you all piled into the car (or onto the train) of a Saturday and off you went. Now clubs want to sell tickets all of the time and impose surcharges on those who don't want to go down that road all the spontaineity has gone from the game as well.
  5. Taking Pulis from Stoke helped us to obtain 1.3 million or so for Andrew Davies. We probably paid Pulis a couple of K a week, Davies on the other hand has probably taken Stoke (and or the clubs they loaned him to) for about 10K a week for 3 years,he's played about 25 games in that time. There's a(sterling?) silver lining to every cloud you know.
  6. Certanly not the best player in the League no, probably the most noticeable though. The best player in the League certainly plays for us, there are 3 or 4 potential candidates, depends on how you value footballers really.
  7. Strange, Holmes is up on the OS today and you'd have to think that he'll still be here next season from what he's saying, perhaps his contract gets automatically extened because of the amount of time he's been out injured or something of that ilk.
  8. Pulis?? well that's Nemesis at work for you isn't it. We sold them a dud for quite a lot of money, they gave us one in return. Nothing more to say on the subject, Nemesis is always watching.
  9. Spoke to him a couple of times when he was at St E, thought English football was the pits if I remember rightly.
  10. Obviously couldn't captain a p*ss up in a brewery.
  11. You can't sell out of contract players like Holmes. You'd have to renew their contract first, which in the case of Holmes I guess we might not be doing.
  12. Don't see Forest beating Swansea now, maybe if it goes to penalties.
  13. If Peterborough were to go up and then they sold CMS and Boyd for around a total of 4 million£ or so I don't expect they'd just trouser the money and play with what was left. Plenty of players would be available to them, maybe even better than those which they'd sold. We don't have either Boyd or CMS, does that mean we're going to be crap in the NPC though? of course it doesn't. There are a lot of really crap sides in the NPC and most of them wouldn't humiliate Posh even without CMS+Boyd.Pompey are sh*t and have about 14 players, still finished about mid-table though.
  14. You must have come out on the plus side of the ledger, just the booking fees or the matchday supplement on 17 games would make up any shortfall. If you paid say 374 £(easy maths) for your ST that works out at £22 a match . 17x matchday comes to about the same and you'd have either had to pay the booking fees or the matchday supplement. Unless you had time to go to the TO in person on 17 occasions that is.
  15. My what a surprise that is. Wouldn't waste money on him going to Arsenal myself though. Arsenal need real players to challenge for something next season; Ox is a great prospect but he won't win them a trophy next season.
  16. Could be worse if Myburgh hadn't made 60 odd, must be a seamers wicket, not that we could bowl out their tail without them adding 250 mind you.
  17. Everybody seems to think Boro are far better than they really are. Mind you Strachan was a disaster there.
  18. Exactly, Forest appointed Davies and he got them clear, Derby appointed Clough and he did the same,Watford were really struggling but I guess they got someone else in and picked up. The bottom was really crap, Saints were going to get -10,Charlton were useless, any reasonable managerial appointment for Norwich would probably have done the trick, but they appointed the tea boy as usual and he finished them off.
  19. Backstreet place in Bombay, nearly took my head off though. Didn't even get thrown out for taking my shirt off....which is more than you can say for the time I did it in the Mohti Mahal down Bevois Valley. Don't know how many of you remember that place, used to attract a lot of people at pub closing time. Great people, was usually pretty chaotic in there but the waiters(Nige and Intikhab as they were nicknamed) were always incredibly calm about everything, didn't mind bills paid in an assortment of LVs,coppers etc either.
  20. Stripes, plenty already have the sash and wouldn't buy another one. I'd think it pretty important to the shirt sponsors to have something a bit different this season.
  21. It certainly wouldn't make much sense when we have an unused capacity of about 9 or 10K per game. I think the STs will have a ceiling level of about 18K or so,which will probably be enough.I could see concessions being restricted though.
  22. Hants now 69/2 both openers gone, it's up to Myburgh and McKenzie now, if Yorkshire can get one of them quickly they'd surely fancy their chances of winning by an innings. Sad,sad state of affairs to think we had them at 104/5.
  23. Can't be bothered to trawl back through the thread to find a relevant post but Wade Elliot has re-signed at Burnley for 2 years.
  24. Norwich's relegation to League 1 was just the result of a totally p*ss poor management appointment. Gunn took them down all by himself.
  25. Derby made no effort to stay there, knew they had no chance and just took the money for future campaigns, mind you sacking Davies and appointing Jewell didn't help. we should have beaten Derby in the play-offs really, they were dire.
