Well if I were managing on a budget at the time of appointment of Stuart Gray I might not have spent 4 million on a physical wreck from Ecuador and his cousin.I might have got a proven manager in that I wouldn't necessarily have to pay off(at 1 million £+) a few weeks later. I might even think before I did stupid things because they were the cheap option. No-one can defend Lowe over the appointment of Stuart Gray....no-one.
-
Ah but if I was in they habit of gobbing everything that successive "chairmen" of this club had said I'd still be wondering where Wilde's investment was and why we sold Walcott,Bale and Kenwyne Jones or even why we didn't sign a striker in the summer. It's not pessimism, it's seen it all before!!!
-
what like Stuart Gray and Steve Wigley you mean, one of Lowe's great qualities, the cheaper they came the more he respected them.
-
Although the club does seem to like making a maximum of money, £3 booking fee, parking charges....all these thing tend to indicate (well to me anyway) that we won't turn down a good offer for the lad...or anyone else for that matter.

Two points a game might not get us automatic promotion now, we'd need 2.2 ish to be sure.13 points from these 6 games is what we need. Can't see us having any difficulty with that really.

A team is never consistently better than it's weakest player, because better opposition will invariably find the fault line. I would say we lost against Brentford because of 2 individually poor actions, and I don't mean Kelvin. Same player was involved in both of them.

I see Liverpool have just signed up a 16 year old keeper from Millwall, young Turkish international apparently. The comment that goes with it on Liverpool's behalf is that "you have to sign up young talent at 16/17/18 to ensure the future is of the club. Big clubs now hoover up everything worth having at that age because if they don't someone will soon be asking them them to pay 5/10 million for the same player. In fact it's become a trap for young players, clubs are signing them to 4/5 year contracts at 17/18 and then demanding huge sums to let them move on to bigger clubs where they may flourish. It's a lesson to young players do not get ensnared by lower league clubs on long contracts because you may never get out of them.

Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)
Window Cleaner replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
I would think they'll do their utmost to get the game on because if it's postponed until a Tuesday in March they'll lose money on the gate and in-stadium sales.Boxing Day games are usually one of the seasons biggest money spinners.Look at us last season, Exeter at home, true we reduced prices but we got 30K+, wouldn't get that on a wet Tuesday in March. -
now if that happened and he did OK it would be tangible proof that you can be too good to play well in the third division.
-
Rooney now Tevez. Football clubs need to stop giving in to these ass bandits.Stick them in the reserves for 2 years or whatever it is. Sooner or later giving in to player's every whim will bring the house of cards down.

Did I say it was unbelievable?? I said it is a lucky chance for Punch at best.If the move wasn't engineered from Puncheon's side then it shows that vultures are always watching over us to see if anyone who can be snaffled up has been dropped.Punch had been on the bench forjust 2 or 3 games before Millwall snapped him up.
-
Why?? JP obviously came here with a move up to the Championship in view, we didn't make it, perhaps hanging around in this crap league was abhorrent to him. Oh right Kenny Jackett called on the off chance that JP would fancy a loan move to Millwall....rrrrright, as if such a phone call could not be engineered.
-
Perhaps Crosby thought Punch wasn't doing enough defensively, defending as a team is one of his hobby horses apparently. Mind you given S****horpe's defensive record last season (and again this) perhaps he is not wrong.
-
but they turned down 200K from Coventry for him, so we paid them 1.2 million. Burley probably threw a wobbly and rolled on the floor until he got his way.Perhaps this is the sort of strange dealing that Mr C was talking about.
-
Might want to prove a point as his loan period will soon be up.Depends whether he fancies coming back to Saints I guess.
-
Oh no not the GI Jane argument again.
-
Millwall on sunday.
-
But then you look at Citeh last night and think what have they wasted 200 million (or whatever it is) on? Bloke who keeps sanctioning all those purchases must be a pushover. Never seen an expensive player quite as useless as Balotelli (and I've seen a few duds) Touré nutjob, probably didn't fancy the boxing day game I guess, getting 2 yellows in 2 minutes,3 minutes from time takes effort.

In fact we started losing round about Christmas with the defeat at Leeds and Colchester. Want to know why we thought we lost those matches??? because Morgan was injured.....our best player said AP.....how times change eh.
-
We'll give him away I expect, perhaps he was one of those players that "should never have been given a professional contract" NB I'm not sure that you're allowed to say that sort of thing about your staff in public, although perhaps it wasn't said eh!!!!!!!!
-
what evidence would that be then??? I don't think we have any evidence, if as it's stated AP was given the boot because of his pre-season regime how does that involve Downes and the goalkeeping coach but not Wilkins? perhaps Wilkins was the whistle blower.

I am totally confused by the whole affair and as you say I am not stupid. There is no logic to anything that happened and I am a very logical person, almost Spock like in my thinking. I see the truth being veiled and then corrected if it's noticed just as Machiavelli said it should be in his chef d'oeuvre "The Prince". Nothing rings right to me, nothing whatsoever. Now Up and way assures me that AP did in fact become a "bellend" between May and August and worked the players into the ground. He may well be right but I just don't believe it.....it's personal, it's not logical thus it probably isn't true. There is an old adage, if it's too good to be true it probably is.I liked leftback's stuff, it was altogether probable that most of it was ball-park fact, obviously there might have been a bit of extemporisation here and there but on the whole fairly accurate. Now we have (or had) a post, since deleted or modified, carrying all sorts of strange revelations. Something isn't right, something is rotten in the state of Denmark as the bard would say.

Ahhh it's this new fangled family values thingy. My Mum was a school friend of Peter Sainsbury, he used to call on us sometimes. When he went out to play in S.Africa for the winter Mrs Pete stayed at home in Bitterne Park. Now the lads are all rushing home for births and birthdays and what have you, family values yes, professional values ...not so much.Noticed it's everywhere now, Clermont Rugby went into last Saturday's match with a weakened side because of a childbirth at home,Torres got time off for the same. It's just not right for the amount of money these sportspeople get.
-
But once Barnard has been "fixed" surely he'll be able to play more often?? Although his career statistics wouldn't back that up really. Couldn't his "injury problem" have been sorted out when he very foolishly got a red card in a game which didn't matter?? Not much of season for Barney really is it.

I looked at that game the other day (I've got 3 weeks imposed leave cos i got behind in the summer). I thought we looked really really handy that day.I also looked at the highlights of Yeovil saints just now, we looked far better than we did last Saturday to be sure. Pity we don't do the full 90s any more though.Player costs the same ,now if they did F90s still I'd pay more.
