These are the U20s to be exact, the Espoirs (U23s) have gone off to Argentina for a couple of matches against the Argentine U23s . I am really looking forward to tonight's game, hope that Morgan starts and shows the difference between a player who's getting regular first team competitive football and 19/20 year olds who are hanging about on the edge of bigger clubs. Another one to watch Marvin Esor who'll probably play RB for the French, chose to go and play in Ligue 2 with Arles-Avignon instead of hanging around in Bordeaux's reserves. Saw him when AA played Clermont a while back, looked like one hell of a player on that occasion.

Andrew Surman Has Been Told He Can Leave.

Especially as there's a new rule in the EPL about naming a squad of 25 senior players only of which 8 must be home grown (ie with an English or Welsh club for 3 years before they turn 21) I don't know much about Wolves squad and how they stand on that though. I think Manchester Cityesque squads are over and done with though, guess they're be a lot of loan players available this summer. -
Which is a relatively big total for a 19/20 year old

Looks like he might have changed his mind since then. L'Equipe doesn't usually get things wrong http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2010/20100518_134451_ballack-va-porter-plainte.html

Ghana and Germany being in the same qualifying group I guess.

in fact it would seem that some mischievous scamp (or scampess) is feeding crap to the Mail about Saints related things just to make them look silly...as if there was any need to help them in that. -
Wow ,a nearly year old Surman thread resurrected to compliment the 2 we have already today. Marcel Proust told us that we should leave beautiful women to men with no imagination, wonder what he would say about going on and on and on about recently departed players who haven't quite made it in promised lands.

Stock has had major injury problems of late, would need to see him in action over a continued period before I personally took a chance on hiring him. -

Only because Pinnacle (and the gullible fools who championed their campaign and produced 500K deposits) kept the real McCoy waiting in the wings. -
I see that Ballack is going to sue Kevin Prince Boateng (they're on opposite sides in an upcoming WC group game) over Saturday's injury because he says Boateng did it on purpose to put him out of the World Cup. I could well believe it tbh.

Nearly 3 months after we went into admin and Lowe departed? Drew was sold by the administrators...to keep the club plugging along whilst Pinnacle tarted about and 99.5% of Saints fans drooled over them. Only the very enlightened saw through it (that would be FF and WC then). But I guess you knew all that and are being what is oft called "ironic" on this forum (although most of the time it's just sarcasm). -

And do you think he'd be content with just being "cover" for 2 players younger than he ? Plus he'll be far too expensive for us. I can see him coming back under one circumstance..either Lallana or morgan leaving. Anyway it's up to AP isn't it, whether he likes Surmans style of play who knows. -
We should get Morgan to have a word with Marvin Esor who is in his group at Toulon. Really hot prospect although Arles -Avignon have just got promotion to Ligue 1 at the first attempt after coming up from the semi-pros to ligue 2 last season. Must pay peanuts at Arles so he might fancy a bit of "real football'

I'm not, 'bout time someone wielded the heavy axe on dead wood and permanently injured players.

Although I haven't yet had the time to read all 8 pages of this thread I can't see what the fuss is about. Lawrie and MLT thought AP should stay and said so in the press, NC thought the same so he agrees with them. Can't really see that there's much room for a lot of excitement about that so why did he go on about it. In fact if I were to draw any conclusion from the statement it would be that Markus has told them to cut it out and banged their heads together, AP and NC that is

Pardew and board to meet Thursday now...?
Window Cleaner replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
But how much more do we need to spend (and commit)to be able to beat Brentford,Exeter and Tranmere? That is the question, do we need another 2 million thrown at the problem or 100K or 15 million? NC and ML aren't going to throw money at the problem endlessly. I am really astonished that so few of you realise this. We have better players already than every other side in our division. We shouldn't need to sign any more players, what we have should be easily enough, if they aren't then there's a problem with our existing recruitment an tthat comes down to AP. Most said we needed cover in CM other than Wotton,James and Gilett, but we bought another striker and 2 central defenders. -

Big Ron wasn't all that big, well not by Crouchian or Kollerian standards that it. Sure he was just 6ft but he could jump and hang there in a sort of suspended state. -
Didier Deschamps has taken Marseille to the French Championship this year but he doesn't buy the players. He recommends certainly but the club president and the general manager take it from there. Deschamps coaches what he has, as do the vast majority of continental "entraineurs" .They do not recruit, they make up the overall game plan and then leave it to the others. I bet Guardiola doesn't hire and fire, he works with what the President gives him.

Hence the proviso "unless the manager is detrimental to their collective ability" (or whatever I wrote)
-
I have gone for indifferent( because I am) If the players are good enough it doesn't matter who the manager is. A football manager used to remain in the shadows (none of us ever discussed the abilities of Ted Bates) Only the players count unless of course the manager is detrimental to their collective ability. AP has done an OK job, others could have done easily as well,I really don't give a rat's arse if he is here next season or no. AP is not the Messiah, he's had a shedload of cash and has produced a reasonable result with it.If we had given the same means to say Danny Wilson or Kenny Jackett we would probably have done better.

In fact the BBC article on the same subject is far more lucid. Brighton made him an offer (which in theory he agreed to) but the player then chose to wait for Saints who Brighton cannot compete with. Apparently he missed their last 3 matches with a hip injury and Poyet is peeved because they took a chance on an injured player who then chose to wait for us.

not according to mehball...why do people bother to bullsh*t all of the time. Is there rehab for the seemingly constant necessity to make stuff up to proove one's own importance? -
The expenses include teams travel arrangements (maximum 2 nights hotel etc) plus I suppose the cost of hiring the Stadium (this is a Football League competition so i guess they have to pay) I saw on Carlisle's site that they expected a 500K "windfall" guess we got about the same, except that we won and had to pay win bonuses
