  1. And in 60 years your nippers will still remember their first game - nice one - bet you are glad you went.
  2. It was a great win and deserved too which makes it even more enjoyable but ffs we have simply got to keep our feet on the ground. If we don't beat Plymouth this brilliant win will count for nothing just as the Preston win evaporated after our subsequent home defeat to Bristol. Nick you know darn well we must continue to look down rather than up and we still have the problem that it is likely we will lose Lallana and Surman come January. My advice would be a quick couple of beers to celebrate, no crowing, no more predictions of turning corners (can't wait to see if Adam Leitch uses this phrase in Monday's Echo) and just make sure we build on this. There is a nucleus of a promising team at St Marys but we have got to start winning games at home to draw back the stay away fans before we even contemplate the top half of the table. Oh and I nearly forgot - Lowe out! Enjoy the glow this result has given us but lets not wallow to long.
  3. No not really - Chris is a nice chap, well-respected etc etc and the Echo asked him if he would write something as he has periodically written things for them in the past. He is just very disillusioned.
  4. Thanks WS I need to hone my searching skills. I gather the Guardian tried to track down Ken Monkou to interview him but couldn't find him so went with MLT instead.
  5. I understand where you are coming from but having spoken to Mr Newman this morning he does feel the article eventually published was altered because of potential legal reasons which has meant it doesn't quite sound the way the original did. I think the "media" in which this article was published in unfortunately but probably neccesarily treads very warily in the wake of Lowe's succesful suing of the Telegraph.
  6. Interesting piece in today's Guardian - have looked for the link but can't find it. Someone else may have better luck. I wonder where he is now (Dia not Matt)?
  7. Yes but it is still preferable and harder to pin down.
  8. To be fair, I think in Chris's article he referred to the good football played in the Wolves game. As to some of the inconsistancies I can confirm Chris's reasons for staying away are mainly because of Lowe but he "had to tread carefully when writing the article due to percieved, potential legal implications". My opinion fwiw, it is very sad when it appears we no longer have freedom of speach unless it is done anonymously on here.
  9. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/3866773._The_fabled_spirit_of_Southampton_has_disappeared_/ There is a link elsewhere but it is buried so thought it worth starting a new thread. Chris Newman was a Saints fanatic and is now one of the missing fans.
  10. Apologies - have edited. Thanks to the Rover for the Echo link.
  11. No I am not Liz Coley. Stan from Fairoak needs a clip around the ear as I told him things in confidence. I did once work at SMS however and I know people who are still there and they say things have never been so depressing. No leadership, no hope, no money, no soul etc etc. Its not been posted on here but if anyone gets the Echo take a look at what Chris Newman has written tonight. If people like Mr Newman feels this way then truly we are in trouble.
  12. Lowe has to line up the final nails in Wilde's coffin before the AGM can be announced. Ah well, if you sup with the devil......
  13. Appreciate you are giving this a sensible debate but there are two flaws if you don't mind me saying. I honestly don't think Lowe remaining will add anything. Whatever skills he has will never have a positive effect on the club and any business acumen he does possess is totally negated by his many weaknesses. I know this is a subjective view but please your well thought rationale loses itself as soon as you hang your hat on Lowe remaining. Also I truly think the Trust to be a busted flush. Can't knock them for trying but over the last 2 years just when we have really needed a strong coherent supporters' voice it has been sadly lacking. No wonder people like Wilde are keen for the Trust to get involved because it means they can become just another smokescreen for people like him to hide behind. I don't know who to blame for the Trust's woeful performance - I know NI tries to do a decent job (pat on back) but either he has been badly supported or deliberately mislead. Apart from that I do appreciate you are trying to contribute sensibly without malice and that is to be welcomed. If only more were like that on here.
  14. Think you should lay off the Cobra beer GM
  15. wish we had stayed at the Dell.
  16. So were there any real benefits of Lowe and Askham masterminding the swindle that saw us become a PLC?
  17. Good to see you post without resort to insults and some of your words ring true enough except the bit I have highlighted in bold. How is he doing that exactly? He has been invited to put money in to help stave off administration but declined. I gather Wilde did too which leaves Crouch as the only one fundamentally doing something active to keep the club alive. Also there is a tenet of believe among the more cynical intelligentsia on this forum that Lowe would - should administration arrive - actually relish it because he would be able to blame the stay away fans and then from out of the ashes engineer a bigger controlling interest than he has now.
  18. Thanks for that!
  19. I will say Leon Crouch to the best of my knowledge has never seen this e mail - in fact he probably doesn't know it exists, unless he reads this forum so me making it public has nothing to do with him. As I have often said elsewhere I would summarise thus IMO Wilde/Lowe in charge = severe damage=administration Crouch and friends in control = damage limitation = non administration and not losing Surman/Lallana, but still needing proper investment before too long. A bit simplistic maybe but knowing all 3 incumbents, as I do, Crouch is who I am putting my faith in. Would have appreciated a "wider" choice and bigger investment but beggars can't be chosers and all that. Hope this helps and you also have a pm.
  20. Not going to Reading then presumably?
  21. saw him in Shirley High St the other day eating a pie
  22. For a short period of time 1968 Gerry Gurr before he got injured. I prefer Niemi to Shilton because I never saw Niemi make a mistake while Shilton was sometimes went missing at corners. Surprised no one has mentioned Jonah (the keeper not the Lowe luvvie).
  23. million dollar question Amesbury and one I would want to know but - do you seriously expect me to answer it? Under normal conditions I would not have disclosed it, but my reckoning is that Wilde never kept his side of the bargain with the fans therefore all bets are off. All is fair in love and war and all that.
  24. Certainly not JP because he isn't one. I felt sorry for the lad yesterday because he looked so eager - but he was pumped up so much after Preston it was inevitable to go pear shaped. The desperate Echo and OS did not help. He looks promising I think... in a Carlton Palmer sort of way.
  25. I assume you refer to SoG? It really is time that NickH add his gravitas to this thread - it is crying out for his wisdom.
