  1. So the refs thought you were a tiresome, self-referential bore too?
  2. Shaqiri and Dyer play in a skill position where a low centre of gravity benefits dribbling. It's a different matter when you're a defensive matter. Again height isn't anything; but high energy levels and the sustained ability to press and close are a must - something that the Barca midgets can do in addition to their superior technique. One of the criticisms of Clasie from the Dutch contingent is not just his size but more importantly his tendency to tire and fade in games.
  3. Have you reported anyone yet?
  4. Are transfer fees the club's only revenue source?
  5. That's what people said last season...
  6. I don't have a massive problem with vic's performances - just think he's having to overcompensate for the lack of cover around him.
  7. #moneyball
  8. It's not everything but it's clearer-cut than most things. You're setting yourself up for failure if you think you can consistently find exceptions to the rule. And if you think you can, surely you can be trusted to spend larger amounts just as efficiently.
  9. Couldn't think of a worse analogy.
  10. Sharia Mash Stevie g, Jimmy d and Chalet summarily throwing around infractions on a chat board has more meaning and impact on 99% of us than Sharia law that when the bizarro bluff is boiled away, amounts to little more than a mediation option for parties who voluntarily agree to it and that, at any rate, cannot contravene English civil and criminal law.
  11. Does the club have the equivalent of the 50 cent party? Keep banging away about how s**t wham and others are, compared to how brilliantly we conduct affairs...
  12. Regardless of the results, our performances have generally been poorer this season. We've not strung together decent bsck-to-back performances; even in games we've won, we've struggled for consistency. None of this has anything to do with luck.
  13. Jamie will be pleased to know fan favourite sloop john b was put to new uses today. "We are southampton, we've got our own slags"
  14. So nearly a full house, pal.
  15. At his age and the English premium, I think clubs would want to see more than a season of form out of him before stumping up big money.
  16. Age/resale value to begin with. He's 29 next month and heavily reliant on pace. Back in the day, Vardy would have ended up with a side like Villa or Sunderland.
  17. That's not how success was defined, though. The more serious critics were fully expecting to Labour to cling onto the seat; rather the knives were out for anything less than a solid majority, with many predicting it to be slashed by thousands. That it went up was far from a tap in, however you credit the goal.
  18. We're talking specifically about the media's coverage; and no doubt the likes of Rafael Behr and Verbal who are currently crying in their cornflakes (or is it muesli and organic yoghurt) will be quick to pounce if and when defeat comes. Alas squeezed between a sanctimonious commentariat and the wide-eyed corbynistas, there's a more complex truth
  19. That may be true on the ground; but that's not how the contest was portrayed by the papers, including our resident media luvvie. The by-election was a referendum on Corbyn's leadership -and many were licking their predatory lips at the anticipated bloodbath. Do you seriously think that had Labour lost the by-election or had been handed a significantly smaller majority, anyone in the media would have been talking up the candidate's politics or claiming the result signalled a rejection of Blairite centrism and another tailwind for Corbynism? Nah didn't think so either.
  20. #shrewdpickup #bertrandmkII #if-anyone-can-get-the-best-out-of-him-koeman-can To be fair, you did suggest we weren't going to bring another CB in after Caulker, that's why you got ****
  21. You do realise, you say that about nearly everyone of our CMs, going way back...
  22. Labour loses - its Corbyn's fault; Labour wins - its got nothing to do with Corbyn.
  23. You'll have to give Jamie a hand on this one - inform him it's General Pinochet, not Captain Birdseye.
