  1. More like the first two to three months than the first half of the season.
  2. Is that good or bad or both? Either way, it wouldn't be enough to fill Morgan's considerable boots.
  3. Not many complaints from Les et al. when Paxman went all tabloid and fatuous on Miliband.
  4. They've only started one league game together (wham). Reed did play the second half as sub with Wanyama against Arsenal. And they played one half in the cup where they didn't gel at all. Still very very little of a track record.
  5. They've only played once together in a 0-0 against a midfieldless West Ham.
  6. Watching not just our recruits but others at prem clubs, my view of the Eredivisie is low and continues to fall.
  7. Was surprised how visceral the reaction was. This place is a beacon of moderation, by comparison. Pelle's positioning and willingness to attack the box seemed to draw particular ire. Agree about Tadic. At the moment, the game seems too physical for him.
  8. ...with a top four central midfield.
  9. Miliband doing his best internet warrior impression there - taking lessons from a few on here.
  10. Effectively an extension of the cash versus in-kind benefits debate. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2012-02-28/cash-better-than-food-stamps-in-helping-poor-commentary-by-edward-glaeser
  11. Nor do many serious economists support the principle. But crack on pal.
  12. You think we're creating chances? Been saying it since the January window when everyone was calling for a striker, we lack creativity. Wouldn't say no to a striker but until we can get more consistency from Tadic et al. or we get a striker who can genuinely make something out of nothing, it'll be a struggle.
  13. Aside from not being mere articles, not what your fascination with smoking is. Has smoking caused people to go into food poverty in the first place? That its crowding out spending on food? Or is it that they smoke because they are in food poverty? That smoking related to some other unobservable characteristics of these individuals - not the fact that they go to food banks? In which case, smoking may just be bit of a red herring, much like your line of enquiry.
  14. So rather than looking for serious data or simply keeping your mouth shut as ignorance would recommend, you post links to opinion pieces and politicised anecdotes to support your original blank assertion. How does that all add up?
  15. How can you quantify how big a problem it is without said figures, and then expect what you have said to be read as gospel when no figures are provided? Sound familiar
  16. Am sure you can find errors but then again it's hardly surprising when you've pulled out some of our heaviest defeats since we've been in the PL -a cherrypicked slither from a large sample size- which largely coincided with Yoshida's debut season, indeed his first few games and what was a baptism of fire for the club as a whole. In other words, unsure what it's relevance is, nearly three years on, when Yoshida, like the team, has made evident improvements. To use your example, this is not the Yoshida who struggled against Lukaku when he was at WBA but the one who neutered him when we beat Everton a few months ago. Yoshida can sometimes struggle against more powerful and pacy forwards but that has more to do with his tendency to go tight as he tries to insert himself between attacker and direct ball. At times, this has seen him get turned and caused problems. But Crouch isn't that kind of forward, assuming he's even playing. And 'dismal' is just as ridiculous as your assertion that Shane Long is some kind of creative spark or game changer.
  17. You finally caught up with 2011, jamie? SPOILER ALERT: We make it to the premier league.
  18. So you're basically plucking out games where we lost heavily -and Yoshida featured and hope nobody remembers the specifics of the game. For instance, Yoshida played fullback against West Ham and was largely untested from headers, compared to Jos and Fonte. Again we were murdered at Everton not because of Yoshida's ability in the air but because we Adkins opted to play a virtual 4-2-4 with JWP and Davis as covering midfielders. With such fine reasoning on your part, we might just as easily conclude that Fonte's poor in the air. But anyway do continue
  19. To be fair, most of them are pretty clueless. Championship standard? As you would expect from tinpot manc supporters who post on a sky sports page.
  20. Fair enough, that would make more sense.
  21. Recall that Koeman was going to have transfer talks with Clyne just last month. Suggests that nothing was settled then -let alone before. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11445770/Man-Utd-transfer-news-Nathaniel-Clyne-to-have-make-or-break-contract-talks-with-Southampton.html
  22. Didn't he sign a five year contract in July 2013, so he would have had four years left when he went to United.
  23. ??? That partnership is top 4 material. As I haven't claimed anything else, perhaps you can answer your own question and decide whether the rest of the side/squad is.
  24. Need to keep him another season, then reassess. Assuming Morgan leaves, can't afford to lose the heart of our midfield, which is genuinely top four, in the same summer. Either way, don't see him going just yet.
  25. Didn't like him myself, not just the way he refused a new contract at the start of the 2006/07. Always came across as aloof and a bit of a tośśer.
