  1. I prefer your alter ego Glasgow Saint - and that's saying something sunshine.
  2. Am sure the Everton mongboard is losing sleep over exactly the same issue. Mongboarders unite.
  3. 18 games? A number as meaningful as the number of mongboard friends you have. We've scored 1.34 games since MP has been in charge - not great but significantly more than your cherrypicking antics suggest. Keep em' coming.
  4. Best post of this thread
  5. You'll find it was more than that
  6. Yep. Our fullbacks have more license to get forward at home and provide us with width and pace we otherwise lack. Away they need to defend more, blunting our threat.
  7. You mentioned that Ba and Torres aren't very good in the air, not me Players fit certain styles and ways of playing, no?
  8. Ba - who played for West Ham, Newcastle and was on a verge of joining Stoke - spot a theme Nobody plays crazy gang football anymore but in this day and age, they played as direct football as I've seen in a while. Roughly 70% passing accuracy says it all - roughly what Stoke achieved under Pullis. Of course they have craft and quality in the final third but let's not forget how they got there.
  9. So they were lumping it forward then?
  10. Chelsea basically played hoofball second half and we were unable to clear our lines or take the pace out of the game - pretty primitive stuff and galling when we've shown we can withstand similar barrages.
  11. In short, they played hoofball second half. Was surprised how many headers Torres won against Lovren not just in the second half but all game.
  12. Like the game old codger at half time, John Paton, telling the home fans that the atmosphere was an embarrassment and to sing up. "Where's the famous Chelsea roar" which was met by a rendition of OWTS.
  13. "Too slow" was your wisdom for the ages.
  14. Just the seal of approval I was hoping for - think he would be a great add.
  15. Never bought into the top 10 *******. But we looked a better side -apart from West Brom game, we were compact, defensively sound and difficult to beat. Many of our performances were very encouraging, even if we weren't picking up the points and were the blueprint for how we've played this season.
  16. People were saying it at the end of the season too, pointing out how we stumbled over the finishing line etc. Point is that many of things that have come to fruition this season were pretty evident back then if people had looked close enough. We were already showing clear signs of being organised and difficult to beat, things we've subsequently built on with a full preseason and new signings. Either way, the difference is not night and day as implied by that thread and others.
  17. He's a decent manager and we're playing well under him. FACT. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?43615-Team-playing-well-under-Pochettino-MYTH&highlight=pochetinno#.UppfhsS9nh4
  18. Bazza brings out the inner child in me. Point stands.
  19. No Spazza - it's the rooted to the bottom of the league - top six in a season bit.
  20. When isn't it for you.
  21. agree - thought a good example was our third goal against Hull. Clyne could have easily found Osvaldo with the cross for what would have been a virtual tap-in but instead went to Davis. Seen Osvaldo act before when the ball hasn't been passed to him but not here -perhaps because there was an end-product. Celebrated the goal as much as anyone.
  22. Start a witch hunt - any ideas who? Wouldn't be surprised if a keeper was involved as they have a fair amount of control over games. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479667/Football-match-fixing-six-arrested-by-police-investigating-betting-syndicate-as-rigging-hits-British-game.html
  23. Apart from the usual suspects Rod Wallace, Deano, would have loved to see Camara longer at the club.
  24. Don't get me wrong - they have a bit of an edge that pound for pound is still up there but it's vastly outnumbered - such that they're closer to Arsenal than Spurs or West Ham in my eyes. FWIW thought the Emirates made a decent amount of noise -by their standards- during parts of the game, especially at the start of the second half when we were coming back into things. Doubt it'll ill be louder than Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
  25. was talking about numbers after the 80s - they didn't exceed 30,000 till the late 1990s.
