  1. Fabulous win - goals from Lambo were spectacular right in front of us (1st header was pin-point accurate in terms of timing and placement). Morgan had a very special night indeed - let's hope that's wetted his appetite and he'll now go on a goal-fest run! Thoroughly enjoyable evening of footie - couldn't give a monkey's toss about the Huddersfield result TBH as the evening was all about Saints spanking Rovers 1-5!! Bring on the play-offs - we deserve it now.
  2. 100% agree with this...just don't understand how the FA can allow the farce to continue. Pimpley have disgraced English football this season.
  3. Agree with OP actually. I think AP has demonstrated he has the nouse to operate with this team in this league, perhaps with a little strengthening in defence and central midfield in the summer. What if we're 8th (for example) at Xmas with the top slot well within our grasp? That would be way ahead of where we are now and every chance of still going up as Champions. But some like Alpine would have us sack AP at Xmas?!?!? That would be UTTER UTTER barking madness!!!
  4. Great game today - really enjoyed it. Davis and Fonte were incredible today. Seaborne scares the cr*p out of me though - his positional play is in need of improvement to be anywhere near as effective as Jaidi. I thought there were times today also when either Lallana or Puncheon were FAR too selfish with the ball - one time in particular where a simple lay-off would have put us through 3 versus goalkeeper and a dead cert 2nd goal, but the decision to pass was taken way too late for some reason and when it came it was woeful. Going up to Rovers on Tuesday - really looking forward to that. Win it and play-offs are no longer a pipe dream...they become a true reality. COYS!
  5. Surely the coaches would travel up the M27/M3 given Wembleys location and the A3 still having the bottle-neck that is Hindhead? Anyway, stupid idea even thinking about the fish-fiddlers I suppose.
  6. Anyone planning to drape some flags on M27 motorway bridges for the Skates on Sunday to remind them of the manner in which they've cheated their way to Wembley? Just a thought.
  7. I know of a Saints fan who was offered a ticket to the Poopey game and he's going. He dislikes Poopey and Spurs in equal measure. So is this wrong? I wouldn't go if I were him...in fact I literally couldn't go.
  8. 76 and go to play-offs on GD ahead of Huddersfield. You heard it here first.
  9. We will win 2-1 or possibly even 3-1. It is written. HTH.
  10. Unfortunately if do not go up I can see £5m being too much of a tempter. Having said that, we have yet to see how well NC and Markus stand up to the pressure of higher placed clubs coming in for our best players as we struggle up the leagues. I do not think selling Lallana will fit nicely with their game plan to be honest, so perhaps we will see a sterner approach to keeping the squad together. Let's face it, we should be strengthening the squad this summer, not selling the best - that was Lowe's way and it failed.
  11. Sure, I understand this Phil. However, surely this is NC's job we're talking about here - a guy who is responsible and accountable and in my opinion would never take chances with Markus' money (as you said). We are a long, long way off needing to worry about this stuff - I would estimate 6 years earliest - and even then I feel sure we will be one of the most financially healthiest clubs to host the Premiership, if not the best.
  12. Completely agree....we're starting to sound like Manure wannabees.
  13. Why does this matter? Serious question.
  14. I think it's almost certain we will be above Colchester. I really seriously do not see them getting 79 points. And we will get more than 71. It's not out of the realms of possibility that we could scrape past Huddersfield on GD.
  15. I can see us catching and going above Colchester. Unfortunately I can see Huddersfield finishing on at least 79 points which means we'll be done for.
  16. I wouldn't pick any one of those over Pardew. Seriously - we have a damned good manager who will in fact go on to deliver even better results if he's given the chance. I really do believe he could be our 'Fergie' in time.
  17. I honestly do not think for one minute that AP's position is in serious threat at this point in the rebuilding exercise. If it was I would severely doubt the professional credentials of NC, however I really do believe he is much more savvy than to mess with the consistency of the club set-up. AP could be here for years to come if the key targets are being met. If you need any evidence of that, just look at the smiles and body of Markus and Nicola at Wembley - they were very happy, not least to see 44k extremely happy Saints supporters (ready to spend money for the cause).
  18. Don't think this will be the push-over many seem to think. We seem to have a little habit going of allowing teams like this score first early doors thanks to switching off. If AP tells them to go out and boss the game from the first whistle then maybe we will over run them. I reckon 2-0 or possibly 2-1 to us. One thing is for sure - anything less than a win will put paid to the play-off dream.
  19. Can't condone it. If he was still a Saints player I would have him thrown out the club. It's tough enough for kids to find good role models these days without a supposed professional acting like this.
  20. The actual teams we need to by-pass does not matter in a way - it's the number of points needed to grab 6th place (because that's all we can possibly hope for). Put it this way, the teams currently below say Leeds might have a chance to catch them or to put it another way Leeds have yet to gain sufficient points to guarantee a play-off place, so if they lose every game for example to end of season then it could be them we're chasing. It's pretty simple actually - just one more slip up and we'll not be in the play-offs this season. If we win every game - we've got a reasonable chance given some of the results lately.
  21. Only one place to be if you're a supporter of the Saints - SMS.
  22. Why do I love going to footie? To watch MY team play football and win. We're currently winning more than we lose and we've just won some silverware at our National Stadium. Promotion will be great if we achieve it, however I will not be totally devastated if we don't. Matchdays at SMS is what it's all about for me. I pity all those who cannot (or will not) attend the games and can only comment about how the feel about the result. Bit like the song - it's not always about reaching the summit of the mountain - it's the climb that counts.
  23. The problem is Colin IMO, that there are some Saints fans (I decline to call them supporters, unless they attend games) who judge the club, the team and the management only by the commentary on a single performance. This is their only perspective. Compare that to someone who attends SMS regularly who sees - even feels - the difference in the atmosphere around the stadium. A person who actually enjoys watching the football, primarily because there's some hope, but also because there's 1 or more heroes in the team. There's some interesting aspects to the make-up of the team - i.e. Papa Waigo. I could go on. You need to BE A PART of the whole experience to KNOW IN YOUR HEART that this season is SO different to the last 5-6 years - so much so that there is hope and enjoyment now. But none of that will stop us losing (or indeed drawing) games - it happens to the best of 'em. The one thing that will allow us to progress is stability and consistency - attributes that will not surface if we sack our manager after one season.
  24. Look I am not for one minute suggesting that AP got it absolutely wrong tonight, but he certainly did not set out for one point. If that was the case then why bring on Barnard in the 80th minute?? Doesn't make sense. He wanted a win f'sure - trouble is the game plan was not entirely successful and we came away with a lucky draw. In the context of a whole season, this would be a 'so-what' moment - but right now to some peeps it seems like we've thrown away the chance to go top of the Prem and so the wrist slashers are out in force.
