  1. Would we have done that if we had not sold Jay and Fonte recently?
  2. He shouldn't need to put his own money into the club. We should have a **** load of it from the domestic and foreign tv deals. If we are having to sell people simply to stay a float as some on here imply then maybe the club was not being run very well at all before. I am happy to give the new owner a chance before I pass judgement on them. But as I said before without better attacking players we are really going to struggle this season. 4 goals in our last 9 games isn't down to being 'unlucky' its down to having seriously average attacking players.
  3. Firstly sorry for the wall of text, typed it on my phone and don't have an edit button! But I disagree with your point. There will always be future talent. We took him from Celtic to the PL. If the club is doing well there will always be teams wanting our players. That is the nature of the beast. We give them the game time to progress. If he was bought from Celtic by any of the others would he have played as many games as he has? I don't think so. He would get limited playing time where as here and at similar level teams he would start most games. There is a natural progress to the big clubs and Southampton are apart of that. Unless you show something special really young you will not be going straight to the big clubs. Look at Chelsea and how many people they have loaned out. To get into those type of teams 25 player squads you have to be very good. You have to have experience. The only place you will get that on a weekly basis is somewhere like here. If we stand up to him it will not change anything in regards to people wanting to come here. There has to be a right way of going about things and the way he has done it is clearly wrong. He should not be rewarded for that behaviour at all.
  4. I honestly do not get people who think we should just sell him. That is what he wants us to do. You're playing into his hands. As others have pointed out this goes way beyond money. Whilst he was injured sitting around collecting his money from the club he was in talks with Liverpool behind our back. He is/was the captain of the club and is supposed to set an example to everyone. He signed a new contract not long ago and even said himself that being here is the best time of his career. The only reason he has handed in this request is because Liverpool were caught out cheating and backed off. They will only bid if we give them permission. And as we said countless times that wouldn't happen as he was not for sale. He then obviously kicks up a stink behind the scenes leading to whatever reason he was fined for. Because he has not got his way he wants to lay blame at the club. He wants to cause as much fuss as possible to get his way, like a spoilt kid. If the club bows to his wishes and sells this window it sends a message to every player at this club from the first team all the way to the youngsters in the academy. If you want out do a Virgil and your get your move and the extra pay day you and your agent wanted. Wenger said about Sanchez 'He signed a deal and we expect him to honor it, he will not be leaving no matter the fee'. For me it is the same thing here. If you sell him the fall out will be far worse and no money will fix it. If you are trying to build something at a club the contracts are there so you know who will be at your club, you can plan around it. If every window you have 1 or main players wanting out it creates a negative atmosphere around the club. If you set an example it sends the message to the players that we will not be walked over and do what you want, when you want it. We expect you to keep to your side of the deal and act professional and respectful. Give in to his demands and we will create a lot more problems for ourselves further down the line. £70m would be nice but people are talking as if that will go straight back into the squad. Our owner is trying to sell the club, why would she put that money into something she was going to sell? It would put the asking price up wouldn't it?
  5. No obviously not. My point is if you don't score goals you can't win. I don't think many people cheer because of a clean sheet do they?
  6. Couldn't care about how many goals we let in. Care about how many we score. Can't win a game without scoring goals.
  7. Another half without a shot on target. 45 mins for Puel to save his job.
  8. Now is the time for Puel to earn his pennies. Change tactics and attack now please claude.
  9. Whats that 225 mins without a goal now?
  10. Very good defensive display so far. But boy is it boring to watch.
  11. If we finish 8th I would say that is an ok season. But it isn't really about our league position for me. These are the teams we have beat West Brom Palace Watford Sunderland Leicester Bournemouth Borough Everton West Ham Not exactly a stellar list is it? Especially when most of those teams also beat us? If we finish 8th I will be amazed. But it's more about the football we play and at times its been awful. We have had many games without even having a shot on goal. Mopo proved me wrong and has gone on to be one of the best young managers out there. I hope Puel can too. As you mentioned I was skeptical going into the final run of games that season and I am again this season. So on the flip side if we don't finish 8th, say we finish 12th or lower will you still consider that good?
  12. Two games in hand versus top 6 teams. How many wins have we got against teams that high up this season? There is a high chance we could equal the amount of losses we had in our relegation year. Of you think that means a good season then fair play to you. Personally I would say losing nearly 50% of your games is pretty bad.
  13. Only person who is whinging is you.
  14. "The club means the world to me. I've been here since I was 12 and I want to keep progressing with the club". Said Lallana to some press person called Adam. I would ignore Always mate, he is just a wum, comes on here to try and bash the fans at any chance he get's. I would hazard a guess he is a skate tbh.
  15. Totally agree. I wonder if our resident stat people can tell me how much mopo and puel spent in their first full seasons?
  16. Another poor performance. On the plus side the defence didn't fall apart and let in a ton of goals.
  17. Crowd don't seem to happy with Puel today.
  18. Went to this game. They are a very good team. Our tactics were bad and we played like ****e at times. However they have world class players and we don't. I didn't expect **** all from this one.
  19. Ref is ****. We should have had a penalty and our goal shouldn't have stood. So they cancel each other out. No more **** calls please ref. Unless it's in our favour of course
  20. We are going to get tonked here if we are not careful. Can't give stupid free kicks like that away.
  21. Add to that we have let in 20 of our 36 goals in the last 10 games. Leaking defence and no strikers in form at this stage of the season is not the best situation we could of hoped for. That said I do think we will win tonight. It is a too important game to put in a crap performance. Puel will know that. Lose this one and chances are high we won't get much from the next three fixtures. On paper this is the easiest one of the next 4 games so I can see a 3-1 win for us. Lose it and we will be dragged into the ****.
  22. That's whatv3 wins from our last 12 games? Pathetic.
  23. About time we had some luck. We have been total gash.
  24. Well that was a crap first half...
  25. Have no idea what game some of you were watching. I don't think we played well at all. First half we were all at sea defence wise. Could of gone in at half time 4 down. Second half we had hardly any chances. I don't remember their keeper making a save. Spurs are a decent team but we were second best and how people think we deserved something is just baffling.
