AGREE with that comment ART. If he tries that sort of behaviour away from the Emirates, he'll be candidate for a red card, for sure.
-
..not such a crazy idea, either. Bertrand's attacking style also reminds us that Bridge and Bale also started at LB....
-
It doesn't need too much to hope that we will win on Monday....and my dislike of MU goes back to 1963 (!)...older fans will know why I say that ....BUT it would be nice if we do win, and I'm sure the lads would dedicate the win to Ronald.....(considering who is MU manager).
-
.......think that list is a bit past " best sell by ".......Victor Wanyama is no.81 and it says .....he plays for Celtic ...
-
Mmm ...that thought was at the back of my mind, too
-
now out for .....we don't know how long , but now one of those annoying small sites has re-introduced ...Arsenal's apparant interest in Morgan.....for £15 million  The first of January isn't the same as the first of April. .....If Lallana went for £25 million ...can Morgan be worth less?
-
it's a no-brainer. Boca Juniors ?.......Give us the money and we'll even pay for his airline ticket.
-
if it's world-wide? survey.... then it's surely based on his input in International games, and not on domestic League performances, as he's never played regularly for Saints. I'm sure there can't be too many uncapped players in the previous 84?.....although there are certainly some good Prem. players who've never been capped.

Maya Yoshida wants a new deal at Saints
david in sweden replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
At present, Koeman seems to prefer him to Gardos ??? Of course only being " an occasional player /sub " doesn't help with consistancy, but previously he hasn't over-impressed and has been caught out of position. Something he has in common with Jos H. However, even if he does become the obvious sub. yet doesn't become " a regular" we may find that Koeman will keep him ...just for that reason. But still think we should try to find someone else, too. -
I agree ...I'd like to see him get some real game time, but it's always been best to mould a new youngster into a successful side, now he's going to be seen as some sort of last gasp life-saver. If he doesn't shine....some people on here will quickly dismiss him as a flop.
-
.........???... in Africa....maybe.
-
TBF...Rickie was often the last sub. on in their opening games.... But in the last month, when starting games ..he 's looking a little more of his " former self "..even if not scoring regualrly.
-
well-have we? not so sure. Looking at the bench in the last month of last season ...it (regularly) included Reed and Targett.. but also Chambers, Ward-Prowse, Gallagher and Hooiveld. Chambers has proven (something to Wenger and Hodgson at least), and of course people always raise ??? over Jos, but Sam G. made a good impression (albeit as sub.) At present, Gardos is still unproven at this level. Long (although I do like him) hasn't impressed for £12 million, and (sadly) Mayuka impresses no-one. If we bought "someone big", and dared to pay them 100K /week:scared:, they'd be in the start side every week regardless of form or fancy, not on the bench.
-
but on the other hand ..at least they'd get something back....if they do go down....he walks anyway... Certainly a few Prem. clubs would look to sign him for £nothing in the summer.

THE REAL PROBLEM ..is that coming back from injury is no guarantee of a return to the same form. It takes time to build up to real match form. That's a big ? on JayRod's eventual return. Famous Alan Shearer quote...." there's a lot of difference between being fit enough to play and being properly match-fit, " Does anyone expect Jay Rod to come back all guns blazing? Maybe not. I'd like to see Boruc back...IMO..it's questionable how he compares with Forster, but the last thing we need now is a goalie injury ...KD and the other two are just shirt numbers and not seriously Prem. Jos Hooiveld may well be back (from Norwich), I admire his dedicatation ...but (like Yoshida) can only be rated one game at a time. Look to get Jack Stephens back from Swindon loan. We need another " big striker " - even if he's not a record goal scorer it will take the pressure off Pelle. In theory at least, we have enough midfielders, but Jack Cork is still without a definite contract extension and we need "another DM" like Wanyama. A " fully fit squad " looks (and has played) quite well, but when the gaps start to appear it spells big trouble.
-
TBF.... he was rarely used by them - except as a late sub. I read (somewhere) that he was disappointed that despite being loaned-out, he wasn't getting any real game time. He did well for a season, in Holland but the freak illness he contracted wouldn't clear up and he was out most of that season. You'd need to ask Koeman directly what he seriously thinks of him.
-
if you don't count his disappointing time (his words) at Saints, Anders Svensson has almost been a one-club man - in Sweden at least. Elfsborg is his "spiritual home" (my words - not his), and still fit enough to lace up his boots and train hard, Anders has agreed yet another year with the club. Next July Anders will be 39, but he is still the driving force behind the side - who have been desperate to find his successor in the last few years. In a Swedish football scene sadly devoid of " star names " he will be sorely missed when he does eventually retire.

....this has been my argument for several seasons past. Whereas we can (theoretically) field a good start eleven, when injuries, suspensions and loss of form inevitably come - we are ****ed. Boruc's freak injury (and subsequent absence) cost us a higher finish last season. Jay Rod's tragic inury, Lambert's late season form-loss, Lovren's injury (good as he was then) left us with Jos and Yoshida neither of whom came near filling the void. ....and the list is endless. Koeman seems satisfied that knows his best team, but more importantly now he has to plan a good bench for the future. Hope we can make it to January without losing too many more points.
-
Apparantly, was good in the African tournament that brought him to everyone's attention.... but one good season doesn't make a career, as we have seen many times before. ....and we need a longer term solution for him, as we gave him a 5 year contract at the start.....and there are 3 years left.
-
.....I think, quite a few of those are late sub-appearances, he rarely starts a game for Uruguay.
-
......and I think that game was his " official " debut for Hull, previously he's been sub. quite a few times (when not injured).

Last night's result came as no surprise to the generations of fans who've seen us " snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (or a draw at least)"... in this North London fixture over the last 40 years. The Emirates (and previously Highbury) have been notorious under Wenger, as a stadium which has it's own version of " Fergie tid ", and " friendly " referees, who freely book opponents, whilst allowing the home side to foul and go unpunished. One or two fouls last night, on Tadic and Long in particular, were noting short of criminal. After the heavy (but well-defined) criticism of recent performances; (Villa and Man.City) I felt quite proud of our approach to the game, that at times we were equal to - or even better - than the mass dominating midfield that people are so used in games at the Emirates, the only problem was our poor finishing in a game where we knew that we'd have very few chances. Surely few would deny that Fraser Forster showed some of the goal-keeping qualities that we hoped his £10 million fee would bring, and was worthy of MOM - despite the final result. Sadly our reliance on Pelle as our lone striker, brings back memories of Ron Davies in the late 1960's who, after being sussed out by opposition defences, was triple-marked by tough defenders who proceeded to maim him, although he was brave enough to play every week - even though not 100%. The honeymoon period is over for Pelle, and he will find that life in the Prem. will not become any easier, and someof the Prem's less skilful defenders may yet succeed in injuring him on some future occasion. Our weaknesses are now clear to see. Our "regular " side is, IMO still good enough to match most sides in the Prem. but a glance at the bench shows out real Achilles heel. Whereas Arsenal were able to leave TWO international strikers on their bench ..our bench lacked both skill and experience at this level. A mix of foreign imports who play more internationals than Prem. games.... and promising youngsters who would hope to blend into a successful side rather than being subbed. for our injured stars. The tide will turn I'm sure, but not until our injured players are back playing 100% , by which time " lucky Arsenal " may be back in the Top Four again.

make a note of who's in the treatment room and try and find 11 fit players who can lace up their boots..
-
Nah !...sh*t happens, what is happening is that we are paying the price for having a good squad, but no quality back-ups. This is typical of why we need extra bodies. Steven Davis is (thankfully) back, but we are without JWP, Schneiderlin, Cork and Alderweireld, and both Long and Tadic picked up nasty knocks (which a decent ref. would have booked the Arsenal player for). It's just to battle our way out, until we get better.

I don't know what his best position is? - don't say on the bench anyone , but he always seems to be put in when someone else is injured, and often ends up at full back....or " wrong-sided CB ". I can't see him being re-signed as there must be other names on " The List " that would be a better bet. Pity because he seems a personable sort of guy and always does his best.
