  1. interesting to see that many people have other similar views, but I still go back to my OP when I think of the total difference between Prem. football and international fixtures ...and I ask myself......how often do you see an England side play games that even faintly resemble..... Premier League football ?
  2. ..dare I say I was thinking the same thing .....even if we played their " B side " it would be a good experience.....maybe they'd put Messi on the bench?
  3. why not write to MP, Glasgow. They keep talking about European football at SMS...maybe a trip to another country might be a good change of air....
  4. I think this was my original thought on the OP... there seems to be very little variation to the " MacLaren model " ...choose all the English-born players from the top six teams..(not so hard).. and put in one or two of the legends.....(Gerrard, Cole)....the goalie spot chooses itself and that's about it. No imagination needed, and you or I, or the FA's tea lady .or the Wembley groundsman could do as much.....but it doesn't make a proper England team..when they / he (Roy) ..refuse to even recognise the on-form players, just to satisfy the Cockney media. If he gets it wrong......they'll be at his throat....and then the hunt will be on for the next England manager, if there is one to be had.. The majority of the English-born managers are sitting (or should I say near-drowning)..precariously near the bottom of the Prem.....not a good recommendation to have on your CV.
  5. as long as we break-even on the deal ...whatever is best for the player must be seen to be best for us, too
  6. Agree totally...there have been a number of question marks about NA's selections from the start of the season..(not least the goal-keeping fiasco).. I can't believe that NA didn't want to sign Jay Rod, but he did seem to lose faith in him rather quickly and tried to stick to the " traditional pattern " and played Guly from the start and after dumping Sharp quickly and went back to relying on Lambert and Puncheon instead, and didn't seem the slightest bit interested in playing Mayuka, especially at a time when we were leaking goals by the bucketload. Difficult to believe that Mayuka was " his signing "...more likely to be a tip from Jaidi in his new job - (choosing the best young African player at the time) Mayuka must be pretty peed-off at not even making the bench, and it might well be he wasn't " Saints fit " ? However, he may get the chance to prove himself in the remaining games....it would be a shame to lose him before we've seen what he's capable of ..
  7. no real surprises here really - are there?. A number of them are OOC anyway; Seaborne, Butterfield .....and Forecast amongst others.. Others fell between the cracks because they didn't get a real chance (for various reasons);Sharp, Martin, Lee .....but unless someone comes with an open cheque book I don't expect Mayuka to go so soon. the rest ; didAJFU in the past when (occasionally) needed, but at this level, they won't be missed. Thanks and goodbye....... However, there is the prospect of 15 new names on the squad list to replace them....although it won't be that many new signings, as we can expect some Academy lads to move up....
  8. I'm sure he doesn't speak " perfect English " ...but I've watched a number of interviews on line with squad players and they say he has no real problem communicating in training. Puncheon had a guest spot on SSN and he confirmed that and I think Adam did also at some early stage. on the contrary, I think he does understand a lot that they say, but this is a good way of keeping them at arm's length..It'd be more embarrassing to answer some of the questions yet not understand everyone.
  9. ....and I'm sure he'll get one. He must be next in line.......
  10. all of the ABOVE ....plus the Pochettino Effect.....and the new style of play . .even if it is with the " old squad ".
  11. ** Editors instructions to hungry journalists. now that we are seen (by some in the media) ........to be playing a better class of football....are you listening Lawro? . ....the hacks are coming out of the woodwork with stories that are seen to be unsettling to fans and players alike. First that idiot back a few months.....who asked Ramirez if he wanted to play back in Italy .....for Milan - was it? then we have the......." Shaw's favourite club is Chelsea saga " (he's sure to go there -eh ?) ......and now it's Liverpool want Rodriguez and then .......Yoshida wants to play for Man.Utd ..'cos his mate's there... ...and today....The Star... (is that actually classed as a newspaper?).....says Jack Cork is being " watched "-----(whatever that means)... by Fulham.....that's a joke - right ? I really don't take too much notice of such gossip, but how feeble-minded do those journo's think we are ?
  12. for me .....BOTH the games v. West Ham. Jos scored in both games and without those 4 points, they might have qualified for automatic promotion in front of us, and we would have been faced with the play-offs...... Glad I didn't have to live through that scenario.
  13. match commentator I listened to suggested that RL had been sick......or was carrying a small injury, and went off as a precaution.....best not to push our luck.
  14. English language .... lessons ?....in the Summer. I don't care if he never speaks English on camera ..as long as what he says makes sense......who cares?.
  15. Exactly my interpretation....interviewers are always looking to "make" a story, or be controversial....I recall Strachan knew how to deal with " idiot journalists " .and he couldn't speak English either....
  16. maybe....... they didn't all get sick at the same time? .....maybe it took longer for each one of them to get well again? .....maybe they couldn't train and get properly Saints-fit? .....maybe MP wanted to take a look at Fox to see if he wants to keep him longer term? .....maybe ....I'll win the lottery next week.
  17. there are several threads running about various players who aren't getting in the action....so if we play Mayuka from the start...who are you going to drop .....???
  18. I thought he took good care of Dyer today.......he didn't win everything but got himself in the way on several occasions. Of course Shaw is still the first choice, but I wasn't half as nervous about Danny's performance today as when he played early season.... I think MP was taking a good look at him to decide if he stays.. .or not
  19. it's actually only 3 goals conceded in the last 6.......so do we really need to change it ?.
  20. a natural reaction, but if Fox's game improves in the way that Puncheon's has, then maybe.... MP is giving him a chance to show his best - or to decide to plan next season without him.........??
  21. ...and Blackpool have done a bit better since then, but I bet Aldedrshot wish they had the same points as then.....
  22. ....and look where he ended up .....so what 's the next move, now that Lee isn't here anymore ....and his mate is at O.T.....is someone going to suggest ...a swap ?
  23. Congrats. Jose, wow you are strong...available to play only a few days after giving birth. However, he might have to hop off the bench..... to go and change the nappies
  24. people who do not understand the difference between slang and swear words ! .......(causes more offence than anything).
  25. people who don't know the difference...?
