  1. in the end.... a Bristol club director admitted....... they hadn't received any offers for him from ANY OTHER CLUB .....prior to the move to Wham. It was a " newspaper transfer ".......his agent got him a good deal with a move, and he wasn't worth it. A good one for us NOT to have signed.
  2. .....psychologically-speaking, I wouldn't introduce anyone else .....at present, not until we've got Shaw's signature on a five year contract anyway. I've watched a few U21 games (on stream)....and Matt Targett looks promising, but wouldn't want to throw him into a Prem. game just at the moment.
  3. Ah! .... but not in Argentina - it's not ........
  4. thanks for your understanding attitude guys, a couple of vitamin pills and I'm back to normal . What I meant to say was; I don't think it's certain that Lee B will move to Oldham permanently. IF..... he returns he may end up with Bournemouth.....or at worst Pompey:lol:
  5. I can see which way this poll is going , but I voted for staying up. Stats. show that although at least one team normally stays up ....(on average) 2 out of every 3 promoted teams get relegated after 2-3 seasons. I won't dwell on whether we'd be better off had NA stayed, because I respect what he did ....but I love the Pochettino style of football. Going through three divisons in three seasons is a unique achievement for Saints, although it has been done before by others on rare occasions. I'm overjoyed to be back in the Prem. for me.... the Championship promotion was a foregone conclusion after we got promoted from L1, there just didn't seem to be enough other good teams who could keep us down last season.
  6. ouch , I need to go and have my nap
  7. ....or commiting one !
  8. good planning then.......if Artur stays fit and on form, we won't have to trouble KD too much and it's upto MP to get Gazzaniga upto scratch by the time AB retires.....
  9. well getting back to the original theme of the thread.... I think that Stoke and Sunderland have the toughest tasks, (unless De Canio starts Sund'land on a winning run)....then Stoke could be the third side to go down..
  10. yes, though I think he might have been red-carded for a two-footed tackle there in one of the late 30' photos..
  11. agree with that...and HdidAJFU when it mattered, but if Brighton make the play-offs and the third spot, he'll struggle in the Prem. next season.
  12. let's give him another season ..... and I míght agree. AN really was something special. Niemi and Shilton were our best two keepers in my time as a fan.
  13. ..and not before time either. Now he's really part of the team. Most Prem.sides have TWO international keepers.....who next; I wonder ?
  14. Ahum ! ..the thread is entitled .....Lee Barnard......or did you miss the OP?
  15. I noticed that he scored a hat-trick for Stanley a month ago.....playing from LB..now he's moved upfield..
  16. no you've got that wrong. Many of the " blondes " in Sweden get that colour out of a bottle.......for real blondes ...try Finland instead.
  17. it must have been an embarassment for Pompey fans whenever we finished above them, but to have Bournemouth TWO divisions above them will be something they'll find it hard to live down.
  18. hope he gets the chance to continue with B'mouth when /if they go up.... after his good showing in L1 with us, he never did get a career in the Championship.
  19. ...so you mean you weren't very impressed with them, then?
  20. oops ... it's my arthritic finger again..... No I was born in So'ton ....a very long time ago, and have lived in Sweden .....a bit too long.
  21. this thread seems to be mostly about current players who were later signed, but looking at my list ......it could be interesting to see which loan players already OUT.. are unlikely to return.? so far this season...we've shipped out several players who are OOC in June.....Forecast (thank the Lord)....Ryan Dickson (injured - but OOC in June), likewise Butterfield, and Richard Chaplow (now injured). Steve De Ridder WAS out - but is back. ...Aaron Martin, Dan Seaborne, Lee Barnard, Jonathan Forte, Dean Hammond, Tadanari Lee, and of course Billy Sharp are also out on loan till EOS... and we're unlikely to see many of those back in the long term, whilst Ben Reeves and Sam Hoskins will certainly be back, but at least they've had a little bit of League experience......Did I miss anyone ? ..In round figures that's around a dozen who are unlikely to see first team football again with SFC....so there's room for quite a few new names - even allowing for any graduating Academy lads.
  22. he probably knows (enough) English - many Scandinavians lkearn a lot at school, .....but even if he is " Saints fit " by now, we've been unbeaten in 5 games and as we're going for a higher League place (and bonus), I don't think MP will change the team just for the h*ll of it -.
  23. now you've got the makings of a good ( I mean bad) ...list there, Turkish... can we add...a few more of those who NEVER played?.......e.g. Sarmiento, Forecast, Pulis....must have cost us a packet in salaries, and not a single League game between them...
  24. just for a moment ....I thought it was Nigel Quashie
