  1. David Walker ...pity you missed him. He was like " the silent killer.".....always got his man, and often when the ref. was looking the other way. With him and John McGrath as CB's ....it was a brave (or foolish) striker who tried to get the better of them.
  2. Yes .....interesting... but it's been written whilst watching " the Southampton Way " documentary released by NBC in January 2015. Many of the quotes are word for word, and fairly obviously didn't need a lot of personal input from the journo' involved. much bettet to go to You Tube and look at the original " The Southampton Way " ,(with good input from Les Reed , too).
  3. given his " other job " as England coach, I suspect that he'd like to be at a club which has an England goalie.........
  4. De Boer's name mentioned a lot......and sounds a good bet, but failing that surely should be Pellegrini. Won Prem. title for Man City, and two League Cups....not to mention three seasons in Champions League.
  5. Not manager for goodness sake ..I said.... " a behind the scenes job ". Kelvin's been so much of an asset for these the past few years, and has a great deal of respect from the players. It'd be difficult to think of Saints without him.
  6. ....if so, it must have been pretty embarrassing for him when we actually qualified for Europa League. Had we finished 8th....it would have looked more credible.
  7. Nice while it lasted, Ron....so thank you and goodbye..... btw.. we've seen that money doesn't always BUY success.....so good luck for as long as it lasts.
  8. Me too, adrian....... Eddie Howe is a nice guy, BUT ....after only one season in the bottom end of the Prem. (Nigel Adkins was sacked and was better than that .....).
  9. ..........£oney changes people's minds
  10. Don't expect any signing before July...... Players won't be back until then, and Euro 2016 players even later than that. Remembering how Les / Ralph sourced RK in the first place, they have time on their side. Meantime...we have 3 weeks of conjecture, quotes (mostly inaccurate) and depressing gossip whilst the bookies take a lot of "sucker money" on who goes where.
  11. ? If Everton have promised RK a big budget to buy new, it will probably come from selling Stones and Barkley - but why wouldn't RK want Clasie?. Clasie's name has been on RK lips since he first came to SMS and I'm sure that he only came because he wanted to play for Koeman. Clasie hasn't really settled in, and unless we specifically sign anotherDutch manager (De Boer), JK will have to really fight for his place and become another Gaston No surprise that Wanyama will (most likely) go to Spurs, and if anyone meets our huge valuation £40 million for Mane, then he will go, too. (not unexpected). They may not have been here for the previous big exodus, but any player(s) looking for a move now might like to look to the careers of the others who jumped ship. For those who really want to play football every week, a higher salary might not be a good replacement for a place on the bench and 10 minutes of sub. time
  12. ......you mean like Arsene Wenger ?
  13. UPDATE : If we are to undergo yet another mass change in the club, perhaps the idea of a behind-the-scenes job for Kelvin isn't such a bad idea. ......he certainly seems to have the respect of the rest of the playing staff.....especially if we face the prospect of losing some players.....
  14. WARNING : Now you've let yourself in for it ...coming up with a sane and sensible argument like that .... .........some of this lot will only be content when we're relegated and they can say .....I told you so.
  15. IF......De Boer...at least he'd be able to speak to half of the squad in another language they understand.... would also be interesting to note which players he might want to keep, or let go?.....AND if a potential new manager at Everton might want Wanyama's services?
  16. Depending on the " so-called sources " you read .......Koeman is either poised with pen in hand in the Everton Boardroom....or (as I think is more likely) ......it's his agent doing the leg work and Saints have not yet (publically) agreed a compensation figure, or given permission for RK to talk to Everton. Undoubtedly, if he goes ....his staff will move with him and I hope we have a similar compensation package if they go too. As for Ron, he has gone from " a seemingly satisfied Prem. manager " two weeks ago, and now had his head turned by the vast wealth being dangled before him. As for the next step....will he go or will he stay?.....I'll offer my thoughts when we have an answer to that question. ALSO ...There has been a whole load of nonsense on here about .....why we had not signed up RK sooner. Ironically, some of it is coming from the people who were demanding his sacking during that bad spell we had in the Winter.
  17. I'd agree with that. Sammy going to Everton would be like getting someone from Pompey to join the Saints staff......
  18. go on then....Newcastle? ....Wolves? .....just like living in a time warp - isn't it ?
  19. Nah !......Wanyama is on his knees and Schneiderlin was standing on a box....
  20. I expect £5 million salary is the media's figure.....but we've got the TV money in the piupeline....whatever Koeman is offered - match it for goodness sake Les....... we don't want to go through that new manager routine......yet again.
  21. fairly predictable starting side. Any game at Wembley guarantees lots of players from London clubs........
  22. Exactly. Koeman said as much in his recent interview. With a bench almost full of international players there are more options, and much harder for U21's to get in.
  23. Hi Norm. It really is difficult to know exactly what is gospel on here and what is just plain lies made up by someone for fun. I have seen a number of varying posts suggesting that Pelle will go to Juventus or ....whoever? Of course it could easily be his agent drumming up interest although a number of Italian clubs might well be open to signing their country's number 9 ...despite his age. If as you suggest he wants to stay, I'd be happy with that. What we need is some competition between our strike quartet, and some cover in case of injury/ loss of form.
  24. Fictional?....you mean made up .....as in ...lie?
