I'd go with most of that Vectis. The thing that many people don't realise is that whilst we can expect to see the odd striker, or a few midfielders make the grade getting a good goalie prospect....and especially a CB.... is very difficult. The number of CB's who have come through the ranks in the last ....15 years?.... could just about be counted on your thumbs....... Chris Baird made it, but only because we had a defensive injury crisis and he was 4th choice CB.at the time. Aside from that ....Who else ? I agree that Jack has developed well, and Jason McCarthy looks a fair prospect too, but both are a long way from challenging the incumbents for a regular place.

well he'd better get a move on, he's used up 2 years of that 5 year contract already.

Cortese was her father's choice for Chairman, and no-one can be sure she took any real interest until Cortese made his " threat to leave " if he didn't get total control. -
Read me again Shurlock....I wrote that like other Prem. managers whose team is beaten by Saints....they always have all sorts of excuses..... and by the way. I am not silly just because I'm older than you ......
-
Not really ...still debating that. Noticed that just like many other Prem. managers, he always has a load of good excuses when his team is beaten by Saints.

Maybe someone else who needs some microphone training, but she does have a good personality and is very enthusiastic.

AIK sold their former stadium at Råsunda,(the old National arena) a couple of years ago .....and now play at a new stadium ....but it's in the same area.

CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons

Perhaps.....both might have been overrated at the time? Remember they looked very good ....in the Championship, but that is a long way from Champions League. -
tbf....not so many surprises there, though. at the end of the day (season in this case).....everyone must decide their own destiny. All should recall that they are a success, because of who we are/the way we play.....pastures new may only leave them sitting on a bench in the wilderness.
-
so much for the genuises who thought that one up......... they got 4 correct. Arsenal, MU, West Brom and .....Villa.

your point 5 .....is the answer to point 2. Koeman said we had more competition for places in our squad than the previous season. If the clubs (in point 2 ) played weaker sides, or were crying in their beer, it may have been because they didn't have " strength in depth ", or the manager wanted to protect his prize assets. It's the manager's choice who he chooses to play. Spurs started with one of their strongest line-ups, and with nothing to lose Pardew (or any manager) would have given his second-string players an outing to see how they performed against a team as strong as Saints. If they're on the payroll, they deserve a chance, regardless of the opposition.

don't think this is a political decision - is it ?. Looking at countries like (non-EU Norway), the standard of their game doesn't warrant more than one place. Don't Turkey have more than one spot ?....and they are non-EU....... Sounds a bit like the Eurovison Song Contest which includes Austria (sorry Australia ) Why not China?. Let's face it - who studies geography nowadays?.

Basel is a little further away from Liverpool .....than Wembley is from So'ton though .....not quite like driving up the motorway.

you mean like when Lambert, Lallana, Shaw and Clyne left ......and we bought in Tadic, Mane, Pelle and Alderweireld.? (yes he left too, but he wasn't ours in the first place.) No team is unchanged forever, it evolves.....some come and stay, others leave....some retire, or are " retired" by injuries. Very few players stay out their entire career. For those who have moved on, some of them may look at their bank balances with satisfaction, whilst they look on (from the bench) at the real action on the pitch. What I'd really like to see is a 5 year contract signed by Ronald Koeman. As for the "nonsense" about upsetting players.....most are these guys are paid far more than Koeman might have got when he played, and his record is second to none. If they're part of the squad they need to fight for a place and not with each other (ala Osvaldo). -

or alternatively.....if someone were considering a bid like that, then hope they didn't see enough to dissuade them from so doing. -
......if Mané were to leave, I hope we find someone.....better than Mané ....(never considered Townsend to be more than a Spurs reserve... neither apparantly did Poch).
-
only problem is that if we wait that long *****il January) his price will sink dramatically with only a few months left on the contract, and then he is a free agent and can go for nothing. If he really doesn't want what we offered, it's best he goes now...... whilst we have a chance of recovering his original fee. Some clubs were (supposedly) offering £12 million for Charlie Austin last summer while QPR were holding out for £15m. In the end they were glad to take our £4 million. If Charlie were still at QPR today ..he'd walk away for nothing in June and be a free agent. Our £4 million "coup" in January was a no-brainer.

Clyne, Lallana and Lovren.. Liverhampton........No Europa League Cup, No European football.....no matter... no cry. looking back at the way that lot deserted us ......" to further their careers with a top club " .... Frankly my dear, I don't give a da*n.......
-
Yes ! ...not the first time I've made that mistake either. ....too many f-ing F's in the goalie lists. My daughter says Alzheimers kicking in early ....

More threads talking about us signing Stek. from Fulham. Seems logical as he's been with Saints almost a year and knows /everyone/ everything he's getting into. Have noted previous comments suggesting he is boringly unspectacular, but HDAJFU whilst Forster was out and not a bad one either. STATS. Prior to FF's return...Stek played 17 Prem.games. In that time we conceded 19 goals (not all his fault by way)...and he kept 6 clean sheets. After returning Forsyth played out the season with 18 games (a super run of 6 clean sheets, but none since). and then we conceded 17 goals.... so there's not a lot to choose between them. Obviously, FF is still first choice, but choosing Stek over Gazzaniga as no.2 is surely a no-brainer.
-
Refusing to sign a new contract is surely a sign that " his head is somewhere else "...... With a year left, he is still a marketable quantity.....in a year's time....he can walk for nothing. Surely that's a no-brainer. I hope there are several clubs interested and the price goes up and up. If he signs for Spurs?....lets' see if he can beat his personal record of 3 red cards in a season. you can be fairly sure there is a replacement already lined up. I'm sure Romeu will take over the spot, but we need extra manpower in case of injury / suspensions.
-
Defectors ! OK ..so Lovren have been left out of the Croatian squad. IMO... I don't care a monkeys... he's not good enough. Let's move on.

in the whole nature of things....this is a non-story. Buying players is a lottery, some you win, some you lose.....Juanmi may become a good player ....in 2-3 years ..or perhaps never. On this deal we'll lose £3 million. Gaston....Forran ...Mayuka....there have been others. Personally, I'm still angry about the whole Osvaldo affair ........
