IF Victor is a " good club man " he'll know that everyone has his spell on the bench, but right now..I wouldn't change a thing and Romeu is looking better all the time.

what a great game - even considering the filthy weather. Forster back with a clean sheet. Another goal for Shane Long who looked half dead at the end. Targett and Cedric really good (has to be Cedric's best game of the season) .....Tadic doing what a sub. should do when coming on ... Hard luck Steven Davis -he looked onside, would have been a good goal....and Clasie completed 95 minutes.......

Confirmed: Caulker loan cancelled; Moves on loan to Liverpool

Jurgen Klott has obviously not fully read up on Caulker's fantastic career achievement of playing for TWO Prem. sides...who were subsequently relegated. Never mind Jurgen....Dejan will be back soon... -
just for the record. Jake Hesketh has featured in all 12 games the U21 s have played this season. He's scored 3 goals early on, but none since September. Calum Slattery has started 10 +1 sub. (of the 18) the U18 s have played) . He was out injured for 5 weeks in early season. To date - no goals.

thanks for that, but it's not the one I remember.....but then again ......how many sick mother's does he have?
-
I'm surely not alone in having read an article somewhere last year..... ....which said that Vilhena was keen to come (and play for Koeman), but that his mother was dangerously ill and he didn't want to leave the country (Holland, that is)
-
We've put our faith in Koeman, it's certain he wants players he feels CDAJFU....rather than Ross / Reed saying " the Black Box " says we should buy this, or that player.... Looking at last season, who would say that; Pelle, Mane or Tadic were bad buys? VvD is a good buy, Cedric is improving...and Martina isn't the disaster people thought. Clasie surely has qualities, but with no proper pre-season and injuries along the way, he isn't in top form yet. Why do people condemn someone because they don't play 95 mins. every match? It would be difficult to find 10 matches a season where Lallana played an entire game. Watch a few other Prem. matches and see who gets subbed first. (Injuries aside) it's nearly always a midfielder - they're in the action far more than others.

I've seen others do far worse .......

1 start in the Prem.+ 5 apps. in miscellaneous Cup games ....and 6 "shorter" sub.apps. .....glad it was only a loan....but I still wonder how much loan fee and salary was wasted on that deal? -
......have you noticed how difficult it is for many foreign players to adjust to the Prem.? Look at the money Man U. spent in the summer and tell me they are better as individuals . Wish I could say that any of them impressed me ...they don't. Watching Man.U this season...(a boring experience, it's true)....I'd say they've had a whole season's good luck already. Playing well in Italy, Spain ...Holland and then coming to the Prem. is like a wet night at Old Trafford compared to a game in Abu Dhabi....
-
you can see how poor he is .... .....he only scored twice against Arsenal..and had one disallowed..and hit the post....almost as bad as Pelle last season. Sell them both ASAP

Of course we're not talikng about managing in the Prem. but at U21. I think younger players might benefit from a former player they recognise and can relate to..... The names you quoted are indeed impressive, but they are spread over a period of the last 30 years....but I think you'd find it hard to find another four near that level. -

Agreed ..that just about qualifys......43 games over 2 years ...(it looks like two half seasons)..but it's not as if he spent half his career playing at the highest level. We really an established footballing figure who done his badges and knows what it's like to play at the highest level. -
......couldn't agree more, but I'm not picking the team...

this is a very sensitive issue-isn't it? I think Martin Hunter is a great coach and has done very well with the U21 sides, but ....I can't help thinking that these lads might respond a bit better to someone who has played the game at a higher level...." A mechanic rather than a technician." Someone who can put " a bit of grit" into their play rather than just wise advice. I think the inclusion of Rahdi Jaidi is a step towards this, but even he hasn't played Prem. level football. I think MH has a role to play in the club but at this stage of their development the U21's should perhaps be coached by a former player (not necssarily a Saint) ...but who knows the game first hand, and has an impressive CV. -
Absolutely!... at times, Chelsea were all over us, and it was a very scrappy game and I thought we had a big share of luck and Forster made the difference.
-
YES . I think so. but judging from U21 games I seen him in, he isn't as good now as he was when he played those few first team games. When the team is playing well, you can afford to "carry" a player, and bring them into the game gradually, but when you're up against it and every man is important, the weak links start to show up. Luke Shaw looked great going forward, although he never actually scored, but his defensive qualities were a bit suspect at times, but he had good support from the CB's behind him and so even occasional errors weren't always that costly, he still looked good .....and the team (as a unit) were playing fairly well .
-
I agree that it doesn't sound good, but it's the truth. Sorry if it upsets people, but Koeman is right, and he's always open and honest in his comments. They need to understand that more is required, and for the lads who've been at the club since they were at junior school - they need a reality check, if they think they're good enough to play Premier League....and yet Koeman doesn't agree. Those fans who think they are good enough also need a reality check. These lads are cotton-wooled and pampered at Staplewood - but if it's not working, then EITHER we chose wrongly in the first place, or they just haven't made it. We move onto the next intake.

You're right adrians. We're not in the " Big League of Prem. earners." FFP rules don't allow us to buy big and pay 100K /week (which seems a bit low for salaries I've heard quoted). £40 million - if we get that much ....can go along way in our transfer market. We just have to continue buying smart and cheap, but the market is going up all the time. Remember the outcry on this site in 2102 ...when we paid £7 million for Jay Rod?.....The injury wasn't his fault, but I'd say he's been value for money already. What is hampering us now (moneywise) is the monumental pay-off / losses we incurred through the Gaston / Osvaldo / Mayuka disaster deals.
