Could you please post this again and add Tisdale's name to it. Apparently we want an experienced manager and he fits the bill according to the majority on this forum. Has the earth moved off its axis? -

Self - deprecation is good for the soul. I somehow doubt you have ever tried it. -
Don't think so as I need to turn my attention to completing my thesis . The Ideology of a Saints fan - Theologian or Consumer.

Disagree and to be honest my opinions as to why I think that have been laboured to the point I now bore myself with the logic so apologies for not entering that debate again. -

Pearson's tenure at the club yielded a win ratio of 21% and didn't have to worry about motivating players post administration when most were probably ringing round their agents. He has done well at Leicester but we only know that with the benefit of hindsight and achieving in the lower leagues is as we know a different ball game than achieving in the Championship which is notoriously difficult even for the moneyed clubs. Lets not forget Pearson would have had very good facilities at his disposal and probably by far the best squad and compare that with Ferguson at Peterborough and who would you assess as the better manager. Time will tell but based on his record there is no way you could have employed Pearson with any confidence last season at the time the decision was made. -

3 wins and with two games to go he had taken us from safety of 18th to 22nd. Very very lucky all 3 of our squad keepers got injured at the same time so we could blow the budget on Wright whose contribution kept us up regardless of any influence from Mr 21%. If that freak event hadn't occured and we had to rely on Bialkowski we would have been promoted this season to the Championship and probably passed Leicster on their way down assuming Mandaric had still seen enough. -

Foolish for hoping your fellow supporters would rally round the club to avert a crisis not help create it and then start bucket collections and meaningless pledges after putting the club at the mercy of creditors solely interested in debt recovery. Then having seen the back of their nemesis said deserters fail to support the club in the same number as they did to watch a meaningless cup tie with Ronaldo and Rooney. Drum worth banging if you want my opinion which you probably don't because reality bites. -

As I understand it the fans want transparency well you wont get that doing nodding dog impressions. It's right and fair IMO to ask questions when many answers remain unknown. MY motivation Alpine is to understand their motivation and reassure myself as a supporter this is going to be as good as the blind faithful are merely hoping it will be at this stage. I can't speak for GM.

Hopefully he'll buy a dog and practice his swing in the dressing room when required.

So why is Tisdale top of the pops? Bigger gamble than Wotte. -

Wotte was well within his rights to say what he did and no doubt you would have done the same if some spotty teenager and a few easily led fans held a pathetic and misguided protest asking for your dismissal after 10 minutes in the job along with the chairman who supported you. If we had gone into administration the season before last when Pearson engineered our drop into the bottom three I am fairly confident the alleged messiah would have also got us relegated. Wotte like Lowe and the rest of the loyal fans were ultimately victims of the actions of our deserting, moaning and peculiar supporters. -

I believe Wot.te is held in high regard by Jol at Hamburg so not beyond the realms of reality he could have offers in at least Germany and Holland. I have been very impressed by the way Wotte has conducted himself and had Administration not holed his recovery mission I think we could have stayed up in at least the same manner as the messiah Pearson. I hope that Wotte and Svennson are able to stay on at the club and subject to significant investment and change I don't see any reason why Wotte should not be given an opportunity to help bed in the new regime. It really comes down to speculation with regard to actual investment as if we have very little and keeping most of the current squad that played under Wotte we may as well retain his services and see how he gets on without the sceptre of administration hanging over his head and the fan's hatred of his boss. Alternatively, if there is going to be major Investment and an open cheque book for a manager to buy many new players then there is an argument for a major clear out of playing staff and all coaching staff and start afresh. Timings would be an issue though given pre-season is less than a few weeks away so in this instance could only assume there is more than due-diligence going on at the moment. -
I agree that pace isn't always the biggest asset for a winger (sure helps thoough) but Surman does not have the delivery of a Beckham either. It wasn't until the end of the season when Gillet took over corner kicks from Surman and Skacel that we looked close to scoring from a corner . In fact Surman's corners were so poor I was actually starting to feel embarrassed for him whereas Skacel was just lazy and useless.

Very pertinent post IMO and on balance I think it's best we all remain hopeful but cautious about our immediate prospects for the season ahead at least. I'm not sure I understand the need for the investor to continue to protect their privacy and would hope they are bubbling over with excitement at the thought of owning our club and keen to make the usual announcements. These 21 days are dragging by.....

Wotte's job offer, Surman bid, Rasiak to go cheaply

Apart from trying to understand why their idenity should remain a secret now they've won exclusivity, point 4 remains less than specific. Until everything is known about the bid and new structure I personally am trying to play down the potential of the brave new dawn until we know the facts. Too many past disappointments and carried away with the unreasonable expectations of the many have taught me to be cautious and at best hopeful. -

I think in this situation the idenity of the new owner is far more important than the new manager who as always will need to manage up as well as down. The quality and the reputation of our new man (woman) will set the tone for the long term future of the club followed by the manager and then the players. -
If the investor doesn't spend at least 5 of his millions in investment and we rely on player sales to generate cash to buy more aged journeymen and loans and mix them with the residual assets we have in the academy do you think we will be one on the big boys at this level? I'm no expert on crowd stats for L1 games but my guess is we will be below Leeds, Norwich and Charlton in the pecking order without our fickle fans being given some on the pitch incentive. MLT will unsure a big crowd for the first fixture and maybe a few after that but if we settle down with a mediocre team with a lack of investment we can be sure history will repeat itself and we will be left with a medicre crowd by our standards albeit a decent crowd for L1. Hardly reaching for the stars and I'll be amazed if funds are not set aside for investment - how much is a different matter and it could be Surman and McG are being sold as they are not considered good enough? Ok That's a romantic notion and getting carried away with just how wealthy our new man may be.

I agree Nick but only if the McGoldrick of the second half of last season turns up and not the one in the first half who at times was very prone to walking back to an on-side poistion with his hands on his hips like a petulant Ronaldo. Also, I don't want him to take another penalty until he has learned that trying to be cute costs us points and makes him look ridiculous.
-
I agree and in the case of Lallana would argue that he would benefit from sometime playing at a lower level as would McGoldrick who at times was to nonchalant and ****y for his own good. Surman may be our biggest asset but for whatever reason that status has not been reflected in his performances last season or for some of the season before. He does show flashes of his brilliance and I don't think he reacted as well to Pearson's style of management as maybe other players and he looked like an unhappy fish out of water at LB under Pearson despite his comments at the time he would play anywhere to support the cause. I don't think Pearson rated him in the role Surman plays and thought he had better options and I think it was rumoured at the time Surman was unhappy at the new training regime and the earlier starts. There are people on here with close ties to Surman and I would be interested in their thoughts but to me since the last dozen games of the season before last he has looked like a player drained of motivation and Gillett IMO was a more important influence on the team. I sincerely hope it works out for Surman but his sale to me wouldn't smack of asset stripping more common sense for all concerned as he looks like a player in badly need of a change of scenery.
