It's an easy reaction to throw money at a problem quite another to orchestrate a solution. Lowe working on the board would have better credentials than CRouch in advising how to run the club at a profit or with the minimum of investment IMO. Do we see where this is going? Crouch on the board and Manji rightly raises the question of Lowe and before we know it...all the old wounds open up. Unconditional and universal support for MLT and Pinnacle will IMO only be achieved without any of the past exec and non-exec directors. If McMenemy comes back and starts spouting his poison about the Lowe years as he has done in the past then IMO MLT and Co would have missed the unity boat bigtime. No long term good will some from this decision unless Crouch's position is balanced up. Why bother though and simply can them all and start afresh. At the moment its bit like being told I have won a two week holiday in the Maldives but it will rain for the entire two weeks non stop. Takes the shine off the prize and now ambivalent about it.

It's appreciated considering how quick the term 'legal action' get's thrown around on here at times.
-
Suggestion or otherwise, I think that is a reasonable question to ask with a straightforward answer expected.
-
Presumably the Echo didn't write his chairman notes in the programmes or his OS articles as well. Crouch always struck me IMO as a man with a plan but not much idea how to execute it.
-
Agreed. Crouch could become a catalyst for the return of some old faces and I for once appear to be in complete agreement with some of my biggest detractors and that is a good feeling tbh and to be sincere about it. 100% clean sweep is THE ONLY GUARANTEE to a united fan base and should Crouch replicate some previous PR faux pas all the old divisions will resurface. We await confirmation but I fail to see what good can come of this apart from financial benefit to the new structure in perhaps reducing their start up costs. Could prove a false economy if fans feel short changed that out of the horror of the past 3 months they don't deliver a brave new world for all of us to welcome unconditionally. As evidenced by this thread Crouch will not achieve unconditional or universal support for the club even with MLT at the helm.
-
LOL! Nonetheless it may prove to be a false economy. Prefer to wait until the exact details are clear before making any further comment but would echo Frank's previous post that although Crouch did help in our hour of need he also put his foot squarely in his mouth at the same time when it clearly wasn't needed. IMO it would be reasonable to question why his donations had to be quite so visible and his motives as it seemed that money was being poured into a black hole which, he recognised but assured us at the time it wasn't the case. If true, this news does appear to be a retrograde step by the new consortium and I sincerely hope its their last. If Leon Crouch represents the calibre of support that will be afforded MLT then I am seriously concerned as IMO Crouch is as culpable as Lowe for what I consider to be his poor decision making and dreadful public relations. We shall wait and see but perhaps he is going to be the long awaited fan on the board? That would be workable. Not exactly great news but interested to see how it pans out.

Plenty of other successful businessmen in the area who having done well for themselves still don't come across as very bright judging by some of their comments to media. Why single out MJ?

The difficulty WS is sorting your'genuine' post from all the 'tripe on here'. You confirmed nothing and actually by using the term probably suggested that something we thought will happen has shifted to may happen. If you are going to pass on the information make it different from the 'tripe on here' otherwise you just look a bit smug IMO assuming we all know you as a trusted source from all the other 'tripe on here'. Personally, I class tripe as opinion in your scenario and like tripe may not always be to everyones's taste. -
Agreed but its an email to a friend not a legal document.

What is that reason Toomer?

For once we are in complete agreement.

The media vs Nick Illingsworth & Richard Chorley

I think there is an age after which it becomes odd for a bloke to wear a football shirt let alone walk around in it on non - matchdays. Mid to late twenties is probably the limit but certainly no disrespect to Nick he looks past the age and would IMO look ridiculous wearing one. Can you imagine Leon and Lawrie rolling up to an away game in the Bentley getting out proudly displaying their Flybe shirts!!! I think Nick is by far and away the most eloquent and balanced fan's representative - appointed or otherwise and does at least try to represent everyone's views and not just his own as say the vitrol Foley was spouting back in April on Solent. The last time I wore a shirt was to the cup final, when trying to get hold of a yellow Saints shirt was easier than finding a young woman in Leigh park with her hymen still intact. I've still got the cling film to prove it. -
Toomer could always move to Midsommer.

Wotte's job offer, Surman bid, Rasiak to go cheaply
Nineteen Canteen replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
A newreporter in Castleford (a Labout stronghold) today asked a member of the public if they thought having a cabinet member as their MP would atrenghten their majority. The punter replied - stick a red rosette on a donkey and he would get voted in. Wasn't that a bit like Leicester last season? They had such a big advantage stick a donkey in a pair of trackies (make that 2 pairs) and stick him in the technical area and who would have noticed the difference? I don't have a problem with Pearson, except that i don't rate him based on his achievements to date. My main problem is with the fans who rate him so highly based on the simple fact that with just 20mins in hand he put us in a position whereby if other results went in our favour we would be saved. Really great job, massive well done over 14 games. Those same fans will ignore the comments made by Up and Away and myself that outline the facts that maybe Pearson isn't such a great manager but an incredibly lucky one. -

After timing! The question has and always will be would you, this time last year, have recruited Pearson based on his time at Saints? Logically the answer to that has to be no. For the record I predict Leicester will not achieve anything better than Swansea did on their promotion and IMO will struggle as they were a very big fish in a very small pond last season and compare Pearson's achievements with Fergusons at Peterborough and I know which manager I would prefer. -

My point all along was that you posted something that everyone on this forum already knew. MLT will probably be chairman or have some form of high profile role in the club. Therefore, I can only conclude you wanted more importantly to let us know that a member of your family know's MLT. Well done, probably. -

Excellent post and you won't read a fairer assessment of Pearson and his time at Saints. I'm assuming that is the reason why those who elevated Pearson way beyond his achievements have not made further comment and Up and Away didn't even mention the worse performance by a Saints team ever with the 9 goal difference reverse at Hull. Hopefully, thanks to Up and Away the Pearson Myth has been put to bed. -

Blimey, all I asked is a question. A lot of alleged ITks using words and phrases like probably and no shoe in etc. All I'm asking is for them to clarify their statements as to why MLT's role has an element of doubt but get nothing. Thankfully we have posters like Doggface who don't fanny about and i will take my lead from them as oppose to those who get a kick out of telling us they are a friend of a friend who heard such and such, blah blah blah. We just wait to find out the exact details of MLT's position instead of listening to the chinese whispers of the somewhat self-indulgent/important NITKs. -
The FA didn't throw the book at us it was the football league. That siad it would be interesting to know if the Premier League's rules on administration are any different but whatever the rules they wouldn't be able to ignore them just because it's Liverpool as oppose to say a Hull or a Wigan.
-
Do you recommend it? I was wondering where 5,000 of you went last season when I was at SMS with the other 15,000 loyal diehards. Are you coming back or still consider it Premier League Football or nothing?

Probably accurate, interesting you list a strike pairing he called right from when? 4 years ago? First game next season I think we will probably start with Gillett in the midfield role and Lloyd James at RB and Perry and probably Saejis as our CB's. How do I Know? 6 degress of separation. -
Either that or they need to be forced to realign their financial structures and that IMO can only be done via a catastrophic event in Football as you suggest like the Banking crisis or change is forced through regulation of the Associations, Club's and Media Rights. IMO clubs are run a bit like the householder who realises his house he puchased for £30,000 20 years ago is now worth £300,000 and start's to dip into his equity without a thought for the future. Easy money acheived through being in the right place at the right time - in football's case the advent of Satellite TV. I don't believe football can continue to grow and get away with it much like the Housing bubble and the Associations can wait for that to happen as Richmond suggests and they deal with the fall out or start to address the problems (which are many) through regulation perhaps not dissimilar to what the FIA are trying to impose to promote competitiveness and perhaps make the sport more palatable in a changing world.
