Ill wait a couple of weeks to scrutinise squad strength, pretty obvious the areas we lack right now
-
For me its a sad day and a bit disrespectful, been a great servant over the years who went to the WC exhausted and tactically wasted IMO
-
Nastasic would be good, guidetti certainly had a great season outside of England, not convinved though
-
I hate to give backhanded praise to Dune but Pastor is not nearly intelligent enough Im afraid
-
This Id be happy with, a bit of backbone, good times
-
I remember the comparisons between us, Everton, Spurs etc
-
You can when its half the first team
-
MLG its pretty hypocritical saying to anyone else on this forum they are hard to have a discussion with, you are genuinely relentless. As per the threads, everyone knows they happened

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
Smirking_Saint replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Id imagine he would wait until january to see how we are getting on, for me that would be sensible -
Put me on ignore then DPS

Its not a stick to bash saints with you pleb, though Im not entirely sure you'll ever get it, regardless of anything that ever happens your outlook is cringingly optimistic towards the saints regardless if it changes your overall opinion. It was only a few months ago you were banging the drum over and over again about Saints being the kings of europe and the 100k seater superdome You seriously are the ying to alpines yang
-
And our board bent over, lubed up and let out barely a wimper
-
Exactly, instead they dilly dallyed about doing **** nothing between NC leaving and about a month ago. No new contracts signed yet for a y of our players. The catastrophy that was Poch, and 4 of our key players leaving. This was despite the talk from key players a few months ago asking the board to match their ambition and talk of how happy they were. Look how desperate they were to get out of the club, then there is Lovrens interview. That, to me, isnt just about leaving for money.

Lambert should've been replaced last year, but it was Osvaldo Rodriguez unfortunate. 35m + the replacement of shaw would have done it. Another striker, CB, GK maybe a winger. There would have been a couple of losses, but ultimately the side would have been competetive abd finished north of 8th, the expense would have been covered by TV rights and finishing bonuses I appreciate that breaking that top 6 is v v hard, at some point you have to try and this year should have been that time, modest expense. Spurs and Everton went through similar times

He clearly wasnt a total failure, after Scholes he was the best midfielder we have had for ages, how many games did we go unbeaten when he came into the side ? He played ok at Liverpool there, they got too reliant and he was tired at the end IMO but they played 3 cms, thats what we should have done. Not Gerrard and Henderson IMO Ive now never known an England side with such a poor midfield
-
We could potentially be ok with some decent replacements, I just find it hard to believe in the history of the prem we are the only club to have so many players able to play at higher levels and unable to do anything about it. Its a shame that but I feel so lucky to have witnessed it. Makes you wonder what would have happened with 1-3 decent signings
-
Theres not, its just a natural part of football dont you know. We are just the only team thats ever had 7,8,x players that are too good for us You are clearly an idiot for thinking otherwise
-
Noone anywhere near his level of ability. He is past it at that level and its the right thing to do but cant help but feel Hodgson got tactics woefully wrong.
-
We could potentially have resisted, unlike many believe we didnt have to sell all of them. This isnt going anywhere by the way, so I cant be arsed any longer. As I keep saying, its not the selling of one or two is it ?
-
I wouldnt say miles, we were a way off yes, but arguably closer then we have ever been, and likely not be that close again. Some modest spending on 3 players would have put us in a much better position. And perhaps it would have been enough to appease some of the players. We'll never know Like I said, I always knew we'd lose 1-2 but this level of loss is rediculous
-
Happens all the time apparantly......
-
Do you all just intentially miss the main points ? Its not selling one or two is it ? Its 4 and the manager
-
So if we had such an infinately talented squad, surely we werent far from challenging at a higher level ? I imagine if that were the case and the players believed it wouldnt take an extortionate level of spending to get us there that a refusal to back the team would be pretty demoralising. Hence losing a manager and 4 players
-
Equally comical how we were nowhere near CL quality despite having an abundance if players bought by cL clubs ?...
-
Apart from hiring a pr agency and explaining we arent a selling club ? Not doing any business with any media who help spread rumours of discontent ? Selling stories and giving access for positive stories ? Other than that no idea
