I can see the point Taj is making, and he has been already tested at PL level, albeit at a different level of form then he is now. His league scoring record doesnt exactly tally with his level against the better sides in Europe and internationally. Thats not to say he cant and wont turn a decent level of goalsvoring form in the prem, but he will probably cost a fair amount, and may be a gamble.

Andy Carroll pulls out of squad.. Lambert in?

Welbeck is decent enough, good first touch, decent technically, athletic and has a decent work rate. Its not all about goald either. A few times when he has played for England he has looked v good and against Real for Utd he was the best player on the pitch. Carroll is what you see is what you get, he is mobile, good in the air and a battering ram. Technically he isnt great but he is good enough, he causes enough problems. Kenny did his best to destroy the lads career but I think he is coming good now. Will give England a different, albeit boring, options. Lambert really isnt the answer, yes he scores goals, he was our set piece taker, he was also our focal point for a while. Esp for England though he isnt dynamic enough, ok, he drops back and plays people in, well, England have players capable of that from midfield, so he will be occupying the spaces that other players sit in naturally. The end of the season showed me he is good enough for lower PL but no more. He just hasnt got the legs, and for that reason he doesnt fit England. Holt scored goals last year, but he didnt fit England either. If you really think that Lambert is the answer for a top 10 side or even worse a top 10 international side your deluded -

I rate Welbeck, think he will be a v good player, I think that he is a decent player ATM. Apparantly somewhere I said he was miles better than Lambert, Ive not managed to find out where yet. -

Not that I have ever read a decent arguement on anything for you ? Which says all you need to know, you dont have to agree with me BTW, I couldnt give a toss. Just come back in two years and say sorry As for Carroll, I know its popular to hate him (aswell as Welbeck) I like to make my own opinion up though. No I wouldnt want Carroll instead of Lambert, could he work for Saints ? Yes, is he a better option for England then Lambert Definately. Diferent players suit different systems, Lambert suits ours, but not Englands. I also see Lambert playing as an attacking midfielder for us next year BTW. -

Walker is my number 1 RB, johnson is ok, had a great Euros but he makes a few too many mistakes for me. Cork is a great little player and would be perfect in one of Englands two DM berths along with a seasoned ball player. Lambert isnt an answer for England and for me if we are aiming for top half pl status he isnt the answer for saints -
Tbf yeah Ill concede this one, FWIW I think he will be a great player but he has done nothing this year as he has been injured. Cork should be there
-
Because he will be a part of the squad next year, good player who has been injured
-
It wouldnt work, look at QPR, all capable, but if you change an entire team and system it can be a disaster

He isnt proven though, he has had a decent season and was actually pretty poor towards the end. You could have said Beats was a proven goalscorer, but he went to a team playing a different system and was terrible (he just had a good season). The system is poor, Hosgson is a dinosaur tactically, that isnt because of the players or selection, but because he hasnt got a clue. The players from Saints Id have in the England set up ? Cork and clyne -
Yeah maybe thats true, many international teams dont have the choice of their players all playing together regularly. But if you look at most of the big teams they will have their pockets of players that play together. This is the reason that every int manager we have had picks from the top 6, its not rocket science
-
Very much so, but if you have played the game it is very difficult to play with anyone you have never played with before, playing in a system vastly different to what your used to without spending time on the training pitch. International coaches and their selectors know that they have limited time to coach what they need, and so you get a bulk of players that are used to the system you require and can play together. Personally, these end of season friendlies are pointless. Let those able to play u21s play and the rest rest.

Because he doesnt fit the system ? Even with Saints I dont think he is mobile enough and personally dont think he will be our first choice next year. -
Clyne was allowed to go to the U21s tourney and walker is injured Also Johnson was near our POTT during the euros TBH Plus you cant pick an int team purely on form

It was a decent sentiment, but unfortunately flawed, Rickie isnt good enough. Much like the norwich fans clamoured for Holt last year... -
Cheers blud, Id be getting it hire purchase anyways, makes it easier for me as I do a hell of a lot of miles, changed two windscreens in my Qashqai already in a single year etc. Either that or CL 220 CDI AMG. Whats pros cons for the BMW though turks ? For our gammy legged friend
-
Looking at the 320D when I change jobs soon. I am also looking at a couple of others. Plenty of Pros from my end, the cons being that they are expensive to insure and maintain but Ill be getting it hire/purchase so I dont need to worry about that

I tried to explain this fact a while ago, it was largely ignored.. You also cant flood a team with players not used to playing together, as basically, they will find it harder to play together, hence why you pick the bulk from teams that have the most english players of int ability -

No johnson ? No welbeck ? Britton ? Parker ? Lambert ? Still, its too early to name a squad, another whole season of football, Lambert wont be first choice next year. -
You could probably build a half decent chsmpionship team out of that lot
-
Who are you picking as first on the tream sheet.?
Smirking_Saint replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Boruc, Clyne, Yoshi, shaw, schneiderlin, ramirez, maybe cork New players in all other positions, a mobile forward to make us competetive, two tricky pacey wingers, a dominant CB and a CM to be of same quality or better than cork and morgan. -
You realise that the buildings were not just 'supporting the same weight' any more and were seriously weakened by thr plane impacts and then fires ? Kerosine burns incredibly hot btw. Once the top layers started to collapse then the forces on its supporting structures would be far greater then when the building was sitting there unweakened. A building that had much support through the centre and its centre column had been weakened aswell ? The rest is as you say, pretty much a load of waffle, a paranoid conspiracist clinging in to the hope they can topple the big bad governments ? I have always wondered what they expect to achieve however, if they did manage to get enough people to believe this crap ? Besides, a single fact remains, no conspiracy has ever been proven correct, no shred of conclusive proof has ever been found and the majority of people believe conspiracists to be pie in the sky fanatics. No doubt that that is a conspiracy in itself, but in reality it is because there has never been a reasoned arguement worth talking about.
