What is going on,at our beloved club?
Smirking_Saint replied to corsacar saint's topic in The Saints
And tbh you refuse to see anything but a massive problem. The way I see it is the players and the manager have effectively given up, is it to do with off field bust ups or unrest ? I doubt it. Adkins is out of ideas, and the players have had the belief beaten out of them, we tried so hard in those first big games but for nothing and have lost to teams we perhaps could have taken points from, we have an untrusted defence and have tried 3 GKs to stop the rot...... To no avail Anyone that believes its to do with anything other than the fact WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH has their head firmly buried unfortunately. -
Exactly This is how clubs work these days, with a team looking at players and making decisions, possibly made up by Reed, NC, NA, head scout and possibly head of academy. To think otherwise is nonsense as this protects clubs against wildcard managers changing entire teams every year. Reed hasnt done a bad job, he has overseen the academy and brought some decent talent in, to think that he singlehandedly does everything is as crazy as one of MLGs analogies.

Did you purposely ignore my post ?? Obviously you can prove the Gaston signing was directly at the expense of a LB and CB ?
-
This Unfortunately Adkins seems too well liked to deserve any blame
-
I think the truth would be somewhere in the middle. Reed is an experienced football man, surely to christ one of NA or LR could see we needed defensive recruits, I reckon we hedged our bets on a couple that didnt happen. Either way we are better than we are playing, a decent defensive coach would be able to make a better hash of it ?

I have said it before and will say it again, modern football these days has this sort of arrangement. It is designed to protect the club against numpties such as Kean at BRFC. I think it was a case that Cortese, Reed, Adkins and probably someone else sat around, looked at targets and ways to progress the club etc and agreed to it. To say any one had overall responsibility is madness. I can blame Reed for poor target aquisitions, and not finding more players, and possibly blame him for a 'rigid' 433 formation in the first team. But what if it isnt that rigid ? Perhaps Adkins feels he could make it work ? Perhaps Adkins thought we looked solid enough last year and thought we would be ok with our defence with Maya ? Problem is we dont know everything. I can agree the management team is to blame, and so Reed and Adkins need to go ? But to try to blame others for Adkins being out of his depth is rediculous.

If it is as intrusive as you obviously think.... And if Ol Nick is as demanding as you obviously think.... Then I would imagine its not only Niges job on the line

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
Smirking_Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Very true, but one would argue that Adkins is the hited head coach/motivator and match day tactician at the very least IF they have the hold over the team that they have. But in all honesty I cant see it to be as intrusive as many believe. I guess we will find out with the next installment. -

That team shouldnt have struggled as much as it did. Capable players

Its not all Cortese is it though ? The club is obviously trying to be forward thinking (I tjought in the summer it was too early for some of the ideas) and as such they probably all sat down at the start of the season and agreed a way of moving forward. Adkins is out of his depth, blaming everyone else is an easy excuse to not blame a liked man unfortunately. -

Im not normally a bedwetter, and I feel bad saying it because I do appreciate everything Nige has done and him being a top bloke and all. But how the hell can everyone ignore what is obviously very wrong atm ? The team that played tonight wasnt actually THAT poor on paper either, you need to stop the rot. -

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
Smirking_Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
It really didnt help with the start of the season, and how the results were stolen from us at times. This added to trying to patch up a defence and failing and GK. Also added to his insistance of playing 433 and playing players out of position. Maybe thats not all his decision but to say he wasnt involved in that decision is rediculous. Unfortunately the blame rests with him, I think he will be a top manager in the future but not yet. He just looks lost, similar unfortunately to when Sturrock was here in the prem as if he has used up his ideas. -

I find it hard as he has done so much right and really is a decent chap. But He made silly mistakes in the champ if I remember rightly and just doesnt seem to have a grip on whats goong wrong. I think we need a change in manager now, and I am usually so positive. Its not just the losing points but seems to be the way we are losing. And it seems to be getting worse. -
I think we will be looking for a new manager in the morning

I worry he will be gone very soon -
Hmmm Unfortunately losing becomes a habit, and as much as I dont care about Leeds in the carling cup its getting very worrying

Who on here booed Guly when he came on Sunday?
Smirking_Saint replied to sotonian's topic in The Saints
Love the whole 'gulys fault at pompey last year' one when in reality it was Lallana who completely lost his man ! He got blamed again this season for not closing down I believe when it should have been J rod or Fox. We truelly have some massive f#cktards in our support -
Bale plays down the left so itll be Clynes job
