  1. Nah, we're already above Brizzel with the games in hand.........
  2. No point looking back. A Hartlepool goal now would make it a pretty damn good Saturday afternoon.
  3. Getting a rash only counts as a 4-0 win.
  4. To be fair, you'd probably expect Huddersfield and Swindon to win tonight, possibly a draw between MK dons/Millwall. Huddersfields next two games? Leeds then Saints.....
  5. Not sure about the league, but I'm sure we've had a friendly there a few years ago. Same 11 for me too, pleaese.
  6. For the sake of this discussion, current form is immeterial. To make the PO, we need to substantially outperform - win around (or more) than 15 of our games remaining, plus we need a drastic drop in form of at least 2 or 3 of the sides from 4th to 8th place - it's not just Huddersfield we need to beat, it's them, Millwall, MK Dons, Brizzle etc as well. I don't think we'll do it, but it is interesting looking at the teams in 3rd to 8th and seeing who they are playing and where out of the top 8 sides from now until the end of the season. Huddersfield for example, play top 8 sides 5 times, all at home, whereas Swindon play top 8 sides 6 times, 2 at home, 4 away, and both of them play us at SMS. One game at a time. And injuries and suspensions will start to take their toll now too.
  7. Gutted as I am to lose today, there are some good scores for us so far in the league this afternoon and as it stands, we'd be 16 points off the PO, with 2 games in hand. You never know...
  8. You can comfort yourself with this: They'll start singing "We're going to Wembley, we're going to Wembley, you're not, you're not"....'cos the're not very bright. 30K people will respond with "So are we, so are we, so are we" So even if they do beat us (never happen) they can't take the mickey.
  9. If the club invited Ron, I'd contribute to a fund to get him over in the same way that the "give it to Ron" fund was run. TBH, there's no real reason to me why him, above others, who have contirbuted towards the club in the last 125 years (to qualify that statement, I never saw him play, I was a bit later) but his story as told on here has struck a chord with me, as an honest player who gave his all for the club and has genuine affection still with the club and people of the city - something that the modern day players don't quite seem to have, probably due to the money available to them for transfers. So I'll pledge £20 into "the pot for Ron" - lets get the ball rolling.

    FAO David Luker

I think this is quite an important point, 'cos it's obvious we can sell a significant amount of tickets for the final and many more than Carlisle. If it were Leeds, then between us, we'd sell it out roughly equal, but I can't see them selling 1 for every 2 we could sell.
  11. The're not that bad actually - just don't want a Huddersfield win. We'll know by 5pm Saturday (if we're not blind drunk that is) how we really stand.

    SWF v.s PO

I'm still haunted by my missed pen v's Charlton at Leeds in front of the Blue Few who turned up to "give support" many years ago in the knockouts in one of those games. Not missed once since, but then again, I don't get that far forward these days, even for shoot outs!!!
  13. I actually feel quite sorry about this. I "hate" pompey in that I want them to exist for us to beat them 5-0 every time we play them (an Arsenal mate of mine sent me a text when they beat them 6-0 or something asking how many I wanted, and I replied "one more than you score") but I don't "hate" them enough to want them to go bang completely - where's the fun in chanting "We dislike Brighton and we dislike Brighton, we are the Brighton dislikers". Actually, thinking about it, I do quite dislike Brighton.
  14. Regardless of individual views on specific topics, this type of meeting/discussion is an excellent step forward and brings "my" club back to the fans.
  15. think he needs to be a bit further back. HTH.
  16. The Hokey Cokey....... You got a fake Sheik in, A fake Sheik out, In, out, in, out, we lost count. The taxman came for PAYE but you'd sp.u.nked it all away And now we're gonna beat you on St. Valenties day. Ohhhoooo, your dads a pikey Ohhhoooo, your mums unsightly Ohhhoooo, you take it nightly Your Chairmans bent, your monies stretched, rah, rah, rah
  17. Nice one - that could catch on. How about... "One HMRC, there's only HMRC". "What's it like to see a crowd?" "Where are you when you're at home?" (assuming they bring the odd one or two, and all assuming they exist at all by then!)
  18. This didn't seem to work for me, but this link did (after having to watch a couple of adverts): http://www.itv.com/sport/football/news/facup/matchreports/report-southampton-v-ipswich-514526873.html
  19. This is a really interesting blog on the Tax position for football clubs in general, but obviously has more focus on the blue few than others.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/mattslater/2010/01/taxing_times_for_footballs_fri.html
  20. Highlights (possibly full rerun?) on Sky Sports 1 now.
  21. Might be worth putting the KO time (19:00) in the thread title, as I'm sure a few people won't realise it's an early one. I'll take a score draw right now, ta.
  22. For completeness, the Forest team is here: http://www.bridportred.co.uk/1990s/1991-1992/1991-1992%20results%20&%20teams.htm
  23. Mate of mine at work is a Palace ST holder - he said this about him: "Yeah, I like him. Got him from Benfica a few years ago and he's pretty reliable. Scores the odd goal as well. Makes the odd blooper from time to time as does anyone at this level. Would be a good buy for any Championship or L1 side but I think we would take that sort of money for him."
  24. Noticed Neil Trottman isn't in the PNE squad today, so not cup tied for his return..... Hartlepool goal just now drops us down a place in the league, unfortunately.
