  1. Leeds slip up gives us good chance to get a couple of points back. Must win today and get back on track. COYR!!
  2. Commentator still thinks Edozie is on.
  3. Not sure why you have picked on Charles. Thought he has been decent to be honest.
  4. Good half from us, only let down by the finishing. Mara in particular should have had a couple.
  5. Hmmm. Not convinced by that line up at all, especially the midfield where I expected to see at least one of Charles and Aribo with Downes still out. We should be able to do some damage going forward but worried we will be too open in midfield.
  6. Yep, happy with that lineup. Sensible that Charles comes in with Downes out. Good options off the bench if we need them.
  7. We needed to make changes at some point in this run of 4 games I guess. Good options off the bench with Aribo, Stu and of course Fraser if we need it. Shame about Downes though. Hope he has not picked up an injury.
  8. The thing is he is so effective coming off the bench though, I wouldn't personally change it. Keep bringing him on on 60 mins or so
  9. So much for all the optimism!
  10. Thought Lavia was really good on the ball til he went off. Centre backs and JWP also good.
  11. At end of Feb we had 35 points, so don't think it would have been accurate to say we WERE safe at that point, only that you thought we would get enough points to ensure safety. In fairness, it's appalling that we have ended up anywhere near 18th place given the position we had at end of Feb. Form since then has been shocking and the 1 win we did get was pretty fortunate.
  12. Seemed like he was fucking desperate to blow up didn't it? Ludicrous it was only 3 mins, they barely played for the first 10 mins of 2nd half ET there were so many stoppages.
  13. It's a question as you say. I agree it's statistically very unlikely that the 3 teams below us will reach 40 points but unlike you I don't think it is completely impossible. So my preference would be that we pull our finger out and get at least a point against Brentford. I'm not saying that I think it is certain that they will all reach 40 points or anything like certain. Hope that helps your understanding.
  14. You seem to be interpreting what we have said as "we are going down". That isn't what we have said.
  15. It's unlikely of course. But not completely impossible given that many of their remaining games are against teams with little to play for.
  16. So how confident are we that the 40 points we have currently will be enough to stay up? Got to admit, the rate the teams below us are picking up points has me a little concerned at this point and thinking we may need something from the Brentford game. I don't see us getting a point from our last 2 games.
  17. Given the subs rules in the Cup, not too unhappy with that actually. A fresh Broja and Adams in the second half could do some damage if we're in the game at that point and Long can be useful in these type of games against the best sides when feeding on scraps and getting up the noses of the City defenders. COYS!
  18. Really poor from us today. Apart from KWP, none of our better players really turned up. Not sure where Salisu's head was today and Armstrong also particularly poor with his passing and decision making. Should have probably been given the day off today. No excuse for our performance, but I have to also say the ref needs to do more to deal with the constant falling over, feigning head injuries and disrupting the flow of the game from Watford throughout. I have never seen so many drop ball restarts in a game as today. I know all teams try to waste time and delay the game to some extent when leading but I felt Watford took it to a new level today and the ref seemed either unable or unwilling to do anything about it.
  19. Yes, I reckon Ralph will be using the postponement heavily in getting his players bang up for this one.
  20. Just deeply depressing that the FA Cup is now reduced to an opportunity to give some of the boys in the squad who don't play much a run out. Even for a team like us who have only won 1 major trophy in its history. Pretty obvious the lack of respect that Ralph has for the competition that he would contemplate that line up in the 5th round.
  21. Yes, I understand we need to rotate players at some point, I just don't agree with the presumption that seems to exist now that this rotation needs to happen in cup games, irrespective of what the position is in the league. Hopefully we're all worrying unnecessarily and Ralph will pick a strong starting line up with just the odd change if absolutely necessary.
  22. So, putting aside your preaching about how much money other Saints fans should spend on attending games for a moment, what is your own opinion on whether we should be prioritising finishing 8th/9th place in the league or trying our best to win the FA Cup? I hope this is all a bit of bluff from Ralph and we see as close to first choice as possible tonight.
  23. We won't have no chance at all of winning, but I will be really disappointed (and not a little confused) if we make a number of changes in this game just to give squad players a game. I was always under the impression that one of the major goals of top flight teams was to win trophies, and it's so depressing that the premier League is so all pervasive in clubs and managers minds now that they may prioritise getting an extra place in mid table over the chance of winning the FA Cup. I accept the need to rotate and give players like Armstrong a break at points during the season but in our current league situation, I don't accept that the right time to do that is in the Cup rather than the Villa game (or indeed the Norwich game just gone).
  24. We should only rotate anyone if they are genuinely struggling with fitness. I don't see any argument for rotating in the cup so that we can go back to the first choice 11 for the Villa game at all. It's all about priorities. I think most Saints fans would reluctantly accept a defeat or draw in league Vs Villa if it means we stay in the cup. And would hope Ralph feels the same.
  25. Fatigue has to be taken into account though. We played a full throttle match on Wednesday night and we're playing at 12.30 Saturday. And Man U have an extra days rest on us. IMO if Ralph makes changes it won't be "tinkering", it will be based on condition of the players. We will likely need Redmond and Livramento if they are available either from start or as subs.
