  1. Bought us "with a view of off loading in 2 years"? No. I do not think that. However, as the prudent businessman that he seems to be I am pretty sure that he has considered that a scenario as I described is a great "safety net" if things should change. As long as he can keep the club financially sound AND steadily moving upwards in the leagues (however slowly that may be) he will be making money, and the club will become worth more and more. Do I believe that he will sell the club at some point for a healthy profit? Absolutely. Making money is the ultimate purpose of doing business.
  2. No. Owner's money = owner's decision
  3. Yup, an established CCC club that is financially sound? THAT is the kind of club that could easily attract the attention, and the money, of the mega rich Middle Eastern crowd. The kind of folks that would be trying to "do a ManCity". Mr. Liebherr would be able to sell the club for quite a lot more than he has invested in it. That seems like a very plausible scenario to me.
  4. No, not really. He bought this club for "only" 15 million. If he can keep/make the club financially sound and get us into the CCC than he could probably double his money with 3-4 years. That's great return on investment.
  5. Many people on here seem to be a little obsessed by the fact that we have a rich owner. I understand that at the B'mouth game there were chants by the Saints fans referring to "our" 2.5 billion. Forget the billions people! yes, Mr. Liebherr may be worth about 2.5 billion, but that does not mean that the Saints will have access to that kind of money. Mr. Liebherr did not make his fortune by spending silly money on anything. It is my guess that he will be spending sensibly, and probably much more slowly than some on here would like to see. We won't be doing a Chelsea and buy ourselves a Prem team. We won't be doing a ManCity and buy players that are way above our station in life. I do expect that Mr. Liebherr will be willing to invest in players and a manager that can get us out of this league within a season or two, while at the same time making sure that the club is financially sound and can even make some money for him. In other words, sensible spending. Nothing spectacular. But then again, the fact that the club is even alive, and can look forward to really competing, is pretty spectacular by itself.
  6. Positive things about him? He will live up to our expectations of him.
  7. I don't think this is about prejudice at all. It has to be about who could get us promoted all the way up to the Prem, and there is a perfectly good argument to be made for experience. Experience it the lower leagues counts. Whether the manager is British or not is irrelevant. Much more important is whether they have managed in these lower leagues in England before and what their success rate is.
  8. Clean slate at all levels please, and a new level of commitment and integrity. No place for thieves and liars. No matter what the legal outcome was, he can never again be trusted.
  9. What BS! What made us "easier to sell" (please define what YOU mean by the word "easier" though) was that that w@nker RL got us relegated all the way down to the third division with players that are worth absolutely sh@t. That's the only reason why ML could buy a complete club for a price that wasn't even 1/5th of the price of some prem players.
  10. I can highly recommend the "ignore" function that this board offers. I only have 1 poster on mine, and I can tell you that I really enjoy a "nineteen free" board.
  11. People of Plymouth: keep your phones and purses close to your body, or you may find them missing real soon!
  12. Eventually changes will have to be made. Unfortunately though too many people are getting too rich under the current set-up, so I am afraid that it will take the financial collapse of more than a few of the current BIG clubs in the world before common sense will take over and some sort of caps will be imposed on salaries, transfer sums, etc. We may actually find that we were "lucky" to drop to the lower leagues before that unavoidable collapse of some of the giants happens. We could emerge strong and much healthier than the clubs that are currently in the highest leagues around the world. It'll be a while though.
  13. Christian Gross would be awesome. But what is the odds on Pearson?
  14. He also said that he was pretty happy with the performance at B'mouth. Shows that his judgment is impaired.
  15. Bye bye!
  16. Tough task master, disciplinarian, great motivator, demands hard work. What's not to like? Seems perfect for getting us out of this league.
  17. Will we get live match commentary again (hopefully that we can listen to from abroad)?
  18. As I said in my post, I am not worried, just excited at the promise of new blood coming in.
  19. From reading the commentary on the OS about the Bournemouth match, and thinking back to the Totton and Eastleigh results, it must be getting pretty clear to the new management that with our current crop of "talent" we will not be getting out of this league (well, at least not out at the top end). I am really excited to see who will be brought in (manager and players).
  20. Dear Mr. Manager, Would you sign a five year agreement with very strict performance criteria? That means that you would have to guarantee certain results in order to retain your job, and if you decide to leave early you would have to pay the club a very substantial penalty.
  21. Ooh, so sad..... OK, I'm over it.
  22. Lawrie & Crouch
  23. It's indeed an almost scary succession of good news. Surreal indeed. I am still afraid that tomorrow I'm going to wake up to find out I've been dreaming these last few days.
  24. Most likely (IMHO)? I would say Coppell Want? WGS or KK (in that order)
