At the time of this proposal from the EPL and the ensuing discussions I seem to recall it being mooted somewhere that there was a possibility that the, then, CCC would consider breaking away and becoming an EPL Div. 2. Leaving the FL to stand alone with just the remnants, being L1 and L2 etc. Now I'm wondering if those 72 chairmen also took that hypothesis on board and felt they had to keep the 72 united and so accepted the deal under what I feel was coercion?

From what appears to be a lack of marketing by the club I think that's good. Imagine what it would have been like if they had pushed them! But then, as DBP says, maybe they don't want that many sold and are relying on ad-hoc per match sales at premium prices.
