  1. You're wrong. However you may wish to characterise Benn, he was never 'dangerous' - neither when he was in power, nor afterwards, when he demonstrated his other weakness, an inability to forge alliances of power. This 'dangerous' guff is a knuckle-headed right-wing myth which conceals a more depressing reality - that Benn as a government minister was spectacularly ordinary, verging on useless. The highlights of his Cabinet career were campaigning against offshore pirate radio, the opening of the Post Office Tower, and Girobank. He always attributed his move to the Left as a response to the way he felt imprisoned as a Cabinet minister by the civil service. But the fact is, he had not a single important piece of liberalising legislation to his name, in an age when the world was your liberalisng oyster.
  2. Dear god in heaven. I'm starting to wonder whether the club should offer trauma counselling to Saintsweb mopes every time they make an announcement.
  3. Of interest to fans, yes. Of interest to the hairsplitting, naysaying, lemon-sucking curmudgeons on here, no.

    Bob Crow

Bob Crow was a working class hero. Not many left in London, now one fewer. He'll be missed by his union members and by more Londoners than the right-wing, pay-'em-peanuts odd jobs on this forum might imagine. As Ken Livingstone said: “His members are one of the few groups of working class people who have still got well paid jobs, and a lot of that is down to him.” http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/bob-crow-dies-from-massive-heart-attack-at-the-age-of-52-9183603.html
  5. Exactly so - it's a different philosophy. Different, that is, to the philosophy (if that's the word) that's produced a staggeringly poor quality of footballer in England compared with the production lines in Spain, Germany, Holland, Brazil, Argentina, and many more. It's a measure of how stubborn this lame 'loan-'em-out-to-toughen-'em-up' mantra is that it gets trotted out on this thread, on this forum, at this club.
  6. If the search has really moved that far away from the flight's set course that suggests, possibly, that the transponder could have been switched off. This doesn't make total sense though (to me at least) - wouldn't the plane still have a radar signature? And wouldn't controllers therefore have seen the course deviation?
  7. There's something oddly cultish about you and the majority, it seems, of climate change "sceptics". Of course, they are not true sceptics at all, because actual sceptics test a hypothesis against actual evidence, and test it in a rigorous, scientifically accepted way. But climate change deniers refuse to accept anything that contradicts their core belief, and argue their "case" in a ways that (as above) are meant to sound like there's some science in there somewhere but are simply unintelligible.

All giving new meaning to the term pap smear.
  9. As he says, he has no time for other investigations. After the trial and sentencing of the Michaels Adebolajo and Adebowale, he's still trying to work out who killed Lee Rigby. You can't imagine how difficult that is for him.

There'll be blood, Bazza (contra RT fanboy papski). By the way, does this mean we can declare Stamford Bridge enemy territory and impose sanctions on John Terry?
  11. Jesus Christ. 1. Could someone please tell pap that Barry is Dune is Stanley is Mole is Tristan, etc., etc? Everyone else knows it and no one else gives a flying ****. 2. Could someone for ****'s sake tell Barry that pap gets his moniker from pap-smear girl in 'Slackers', who tries to sell an original pap smear from Madonna? 3. And could we possibly get back to the thread?
  12. I hate to point this out but the away shirt in this design was blue.
  13. That's not chaos theory. I think you just mean chaos.
  14. To be frank (without the chronic misspelling), I think threads like this are uselessly sidetracked by constant moaning about the tone of others' posts rather than the supposedly aggressive posts themselves, which would otherwise be glossed over. Just don't react to them. So could we get back to the topic...?
  15. I don't understand this - you're usually such a bright and shiny optimist. There's always the reverse psychology to consider - that Clattenburg might not want to make calls that reinforce the idea that he's taking it out on the team.
  16. Quite so. I'd also argue that the Liebherrs have been Goldilocks owners. That is, they haven't starved the club of investment and asset-stripped as those miserable tossers did to Coventry, nor have they injected the club with the kind of financial doping that makes us look like a casual plaything of Middle Eastern/Russian potentates. We're also privately owned, not a PLC, which at least prevents the nightmare of having the club reversed into by some chancers running care homes, 'fit and proper' Italians with a criminal record, gunrunners or East European corporate thieves. This is about as good as it gets for a relatively small club in the Prem - just add some silverware here and there and it's pretty much perfect.
  17. Wrong again. I'm very much a falsificationist on the issue of climate change, as I suspect many are. I'd like nothing more than to be presented with genuine, consistent evidence that practically the whole community of atmospheric scientists is wrong. Unfortunately climate change denial has been unable to mount any but the most pathetic of challenges because it is dominated by spivs in the pay of the energy industry, misguided conspiracy theorists, and at the very bottom of the pile, mere frauds like you who do nothing more than act as feeble, unthinking echo chambers for whatever dross can be dragged from the net. Still, I suppose you deserve some credit (!) for passing off other people's cretinous ideas as your own. It takes real courage to selflessly carry the can for that.
  18. But what else can it be but a football club run as a business? Income from TV rights themselves are so huge that I just can't see how they could be entrusted to a fan-on-the-board type of democracy. As to whether PLC status gives more accountability, I'd rather measure it by the accountability of results - and Lowe et al took us from the Prem to League 1 and the Liebherrs took us from League 1 to the Prem.
  19. Just hilarious - made even more absurd by the cretinous attempt to pass it off as his own work. What a hopeless fraud.
  20. What do you mean? They're going to get the best of the draft picks.
  21. So you think that the cancellation of over 300 flood defence projects since 2010, as a result of the austerity, had NO effect at all?
  22. Don't worry, the government has said that money is no object but there's no blank cheque. Now that they've stopped blaming others they've resorted to talking gibberish as a means of dealing with the crisis. That should help.
