  1. lol what a bunch of morons, can't buy ST's person until next week. What a waste of a parking charge eh?
  2. I know someone that has paid his nephew a score to get two mates to russle up birth certificates (13 year olds) and meet him at St Marys next week to get half price STs. He's gambling the scanners will be ignored by the £6 an hour stewerds in the same way they ignored tickets. Meanwhile I'm paying £600, but I doff my cap to any man up for a jib! Up the Jibbers!
  3. Sorry misunderstood. I would probably argue that AOC is definately a better player, I didn't think he particulary stood out for us when he was here (I know, I'm probably in the minority there I admit). Agree re Theo, when he was here he was outstanding (in the literal sense of the word) every big club in Europe was after him from 14 years old and he looked like a world beater - The buzz when he got the ball in his short spell here was only bettered by Le Tiss in my memory...
  4. Eh? When fit Theo is one of the firt names on the teamsheet? Brilliant move for him, played immense games in the Champions League, scored important goals in the Premiership, Van Persie absolutely loves him thanks to all the assists he gives him (11 this season) and he's had a huge influence in England when it mattered (Croatia & Sweden, no other English player has changed important games in the same way). The lads played 150 times for AFC (with 26 goals) and hs 28 England caps. At 23. Jeez.... Ox has only been there 5 minutes but is already a big favourite with anyone connected to AFC. We love to be partisan here, but credit where it's due it was a great decision to move when they did and I for one am proud to have played a part in their development.
  5. Destroying Bournemouth on their own patch whilst being sat in the home end behind the goal (thanks to a fellow poster) and laughing at how genuinely upset they were at us taking them apart. Saints everywhere that day, the load that got kicked out after the 2nd didn't go quietly either ;-) Yoevil away was superb. Sun soaked terrace, last minute winner that kept us in promotion race (short lived admittedly) and top day out with the lads. What away days are all about.
  6. 50/50 for me. Proud Sotonian and Englishman. I love football and would love the teams that represent my City & Country to be successful. Worked with loads of self important Man U/ Scouse fans over the years that love to point out their country means nothing to them. I hope we never go down this route.
  7. Wizzair from Luton (prob closer to the midlands than Soton). Flown with them before to Bulgaria and pretty decent. Early flight there Weds (8.15am) and back Fri (10.15am). Accomodation on Hostelbookers roughly £20 a night, maybe more for private room if taking the nipper though (£20 is based on dorm of 8-10 heads). Looked at via Berlin/ Warclaw, Krackow etc and training it but at these prices and with limited time off work/ away from the missus it has to be direct all the way for me!
  8. Gambling and booking flights/ hostel to Warsaw for the semi. Roughtly £200 return with 2 nights accom now, expect this to double..... Up the England!
  9. Definately a conference Centre. Good move that, the BIC could do with some competition!
  10. Do they do pink ones for ladies and bright red ones for kids? Have to say I think they look class!
  11. Don't see why people think the Skates will sell out against Bournemouth? They only had 16.5k there for a far bigger game at the start of last season against Brighton. I'm expecting 15k and an average of 12k-13k after that. Small time.
  12. Follow @banenglandband on twitter. Whilst I don't have any fondness for the Micks, they made a racket last night without a musical instrument in sight! Honestly, if a band struck up in the Northam or Itchen corner, I seriously think someone would attack them. Properly assault them. The atmosphere at a ground (Hillsborough?) must be pretty dire to allow this s*** to carry on. Up the England! #bantheband
  13. So good to actually hear spontanious songs from the England fans during the Franch game rather than that tedious "Great Escape" rubbish! It's so embarrassing.... The fall out on twitter etc after them being banned was massive, so big I can see a fair few England fans having a word with them during/ before the game tonight! #bantheband
  14. I'm going back to the old school nailed on fixtures of a combination of either Chelsea/ Spurs/ Arsenal on both opening day and boxing day. My earliest memories of opening games in the late 80's always seemed to involved Chelsea (the only all ticket game at the time I think) and Spurs (including the game where Rod Wallace banged an early goal in the Archers that I saw from my view point at the back of the top tier of the Milton - happy days).
  15. Seems fair enough to me fella! Football, all about opinions innit....
  16. Sorry but that's just complete rubbish. Messi scored 50 in La Liga, next best Ronaldo with 46, if defending realluy was "guff" why couldn't players of the undoubted quality of Benzema, Falcoa & Higuain score more than low 20's last season? Surely they should be walting round these moronic defenders and banging in 2/3 a game right? Also Messi has 15 assists (2nd only to Ozil) compared to Ronaldo's 12 For the Argies he's scored 11 goals and has 11 assists in 15 games. Ronaldo has 7 goals no assists in 13 games for Portugal. Basically the Messi v Ronaldo "contest" isnt even close. Only idiots come out with the old "could he do it against Stoke on a wet February blah blah blah". Persoanally I just feel blessed to be living in a time where I can sit back and watch him play, smile on his face, staying on his feet and doing magic on a football pitch whilst being a humble guy off it. He is only 24 and already up there with Pele, Maradona, Best, Puskas, De Steffano, Cryuff, Zidane etc. Can't wait to see how far ahead of them he can go.
  17. Botley was as busy as I've ever seen it. 100's of people of all ages having a good time, the Village decked out in red White and blue. Met neighbours for the first time, old school friends I've not seen in years and helped my local achieve their highest ever single days takings. Up early as Village has arranged a 6 a side cricket tournament and I'm playing for my local. Beer tent, afternoon tea, BBQ by the Botley firemen and a spread courtesy of the boys from the Purbani to look forward to. God Save the Queen! Up the Brew!
  18. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9739146.Controversial_street_party_vows_to_go_ahead/ Went to the Royal Wedding party and it was genuinely one of the most mental outdoor events I've ever been too - absolute quality (Youtube Newcombe Road Royal Wedding Party)! This years will be nowhere near as good, I wasn't going to go but now the echo and OB are against it I might be persuaded to attend... Also how British is your area in terms of flags, bunting, events etc? Botley looks brilliant, council got right behind it and decked the place out in Union flags & bunting. Worth a drive through just to check it out. Loads of events on throughout the weekend (hence my reluctance to schlep into town) including whole main street shut all day Sunday until 5.00pm when it reopens after a scheduled rendition of GSTQ, there's a real community feel to the place with lots of residents and all local businesses getting involved, as it should be. God save the Queen!
  19. True but they like getting 100% of their wages each and every month, not waiting around for it. Players around L1, Champ etc know about their "issues" and won't go there unless they are thick or have nowhere else. I mentioned the Championship player out of contract that just turned them down despite being offered decent money, happy to name him (a few here guessed, none correctly I'm afraid) after he signs for the club he wants which has almost completed. He isn't from Southampton, just met him and a few of his team mates on a mutual stag do last week - mate of a mate.
  20. Botley are having a whole weekend of Jubilee related stuff, including shutting the high street for a street party. Really looking forward to it and all the pubs/ shops/ businesses getting involved in one way or another. Botley, proud to be British.
  21. Was on a stag recently with a Championship player I'd never met before but turned out to be a sound bloke. Currently on £10k a week & out of contract this summer wanted by the Skates and offered "good money" through his agent. Obviously I laughed when he told me this and reminded him how much he loves getting paid. Every month. On time. In full. He ain't going there (Skates have got a shocking reputation at the moment but I also really rubbed it in). And how the f*** can they offer "decent money" to someone on £10k a week (who's idea of "good money" will therfore be pretty high)?
  22. In true Saintsforever/ Saintsweb style I can't be arsed to look at the link, but I hope it's not their usual vegan reviewer that doe's it! What sort of serious paper has a Vegan as a food/ restaurant critic. Always supplements her reviews by saying "my partner had a steak and said it was the best steak he's ever had - cooked to perfection". A, only numptys order a steak when eating out, B, he's had about 15 of the best steaks he's ever eaten, and C, she's a vegan.... For what it's worth Coriander Lounge the best Indian I've ever eaten in too. Brick Lane over rated (but still amazing value), been to one in Southall that was very good and my local (Purbani, Botley) is excellent, but none touch CL. Special mention to Jewells in Chartwell Green - seriously good! I believe the owner used to work at Kutis but binned it off after rowing with the boss there?
  23. I was there for that, stood in front of a couple that had put £100 on us winning at 10/1 (or longer), it was going to pay for their ST's the following season!
  24. On twitter some skate called Lord Palmerstone is saying they've been kicked out of Eastleigh with their training gear seized due to lack of bill payment. Having to move to Collingwood (wherever that is). This should be interesting....
