  1. I remember reading on SaintsForever that the Staua Bucherest away game was on in there via some mental overseas satalite they had, being on a banning order at the time and not being able to travel out there I decided to make my way down there (took a good hour from where I lived in Surrey Quays). Met a group of about 5 rather confused Saints fans in there that I ended up watching US Ice Hockey with as the game wasn't being shown anywhere in the world it seemed. Quality boozer though! As for my advice to the OP, go up north, lived in Islington for a couple of years and loved it, the Upper St area is my favourite in London (can't wait for Arsenal away), Holloway Rd quality too (if a bit more "urban"), Muswell Hill, Ally Pally etc all good. Dead easy to get to Holborn (by bus it's 20 mins from where I lived in Highbury Corner) - don't underestimate the qualities that getting a bus has over the brain numbing monotony of the tube... No nothing of West London, worked East for 9 years and Whitechapel, Bethnal Green, Bow etc are all decent with good links into Central London. Anyway, wherever you go enjoy it - London is one of the World's great Cities, try and see as much of it as possible.
  2. West Ham and Allardyce in particular look dodgy as f***! Will be interesting to see if he gets anywhere with suing Kean and/ or that agent that has outed him and is writing a book on agents and managers taking bungs!
  3. Anyone know if they have barcode scanners to get in there? If not get a kids membership for a score that'll get you past the doorman (just flash it at them as you walk in, if they question you say you picked up your nippers by mistake) and smash as much booze down you as possible comfortable in the knowledge you've saved £25 over the season... maybe put it to one side for parking/ ticket tax fees that will no doubt accumulate therefore making them "free". Here to help.
  4. Jeez, Pompey have their first game (League Cup at Plymouth) a week today.... Who are they going to play, andd how are they going to afford the petrol to get there? Seriously, surely if they havn't sorted things by then Plymouth will be looking at getting a bye?
  5. Funnily enough, anyone that ever meets her thinks (thought) exactly the opposite, hence how well her career progressed. Probably one of the (if not the) best networkers around. I've met her a few times, thought she was incredibly sharp and switched on, passionate about issues important to her (she really believed in "Sarah's Law") also had a habit of making everyone she spoke to feel incredibly important. Probably similar to a female Tony Blair? Not defending her, I knew her former PA Cheryl pretty well through her son (also an NI staffer) and I think it's bang out of order that she got dragged into it, if she is proven guilty then rightly she should have the book thrown at her.
  6. I'm buying 4 tickets for under 16's for this match (Southampton's most generous uncle strikes again) with 4 adult season tickets. I presume this will be OK re loyalty points etc?
  7. Have to say 3000 pledges is excellent (anything above 1000 is good imo), far better than I'd have expected. Thought GM said it was only £700k?
  8. Fair play to MLG for putting this up, credit where it’s due would have taken some serious time to put that together. Quick point, appreciate a few here have picked out block 3 as being snapped up by the club etc. There are a lot of ex block 4 ST holders that moved over there to be in a “wing” and therefore pay less (a couple of hundred at least 2/3 weeks ago when I last looked) as well as a few that moved over from the Northam. Also, that block 1&2 number is incorrect. The 243 available is only for block 1. Block 2 does not show up online and you had to buy tickets for there in person or over the phone (no idea why), that will be another couple of hundred ST holders there (including me) to make up for the “Scandal of block 3”. As for if it’s a good number, I’m pretty “meh” about it. Would have loved to sell out (or certainly hit 25k) but the fact we f**ked economically and the decision to stop selling nearly a month before the first home game makes 22k+ a good number. Shame this thread went down the usual route, I too have been posting since the “olden days” of 1999/2000 odd and this stuff comes round over and over - no point crying about it. Personally I’d like to see MLG cut a bit of slack but hey ho. Anyway, I’ve got a ST and really looking forward to next season! Up the Saints!

  10. For Saints I nominate: Delgado has to be up there along with his mate (Chevas?)... His goal against Arsenal aside that is! John McLoughlin. Think we paid Swindon big money at the time (£1m)? and he was seriously average. Whatever we paid for Staurt Ripley Don't think he was a waste of money (going of piste here), but what was the name of that psyhco French left back we signed that used to go knee high on everyone? Surname begame with a C? Proper loony little bloke that hardly said a word but would think nothing of trying to decapitate Duncan Furguson?
  11. If we've been audited I'd assume it's down to our current facilities? Maybe a tick in the box next to Future investment plans or sommit. Good news on the decision, the really exciting stuff is in the (amittedly anecdotal) feedback it seems!
  12. Could be way worse (look at other clubs). Fair pricing if you ask me, credit where it's due and that. I'm a season ticket holder but know people that won't blink at paying that, picking and choosing game by game next season.
  13. Are you the embarrassing idiot sucking up to the skates on POL? Up the Scum btw!
  14. However it does not include any seats sold to people like me in block 2. They are not available on the online plan, have to be bought over the phone. Also a lot of block 4 ST holders have moved over to block 3 as was their right to do so due to the higher price kicking in for blocks 4 onwards.
  15. To be fair, for some wierd, unexplained reason, that (well out of date, it was that 3 weeks ago) figure of 88 sold is for block 1 only. Block 2 does not appear on the stadium plan online. We had to get ours over the phone. No many left in the back 10 rows of block 2 as of yesterday when another mate tried to get a seat near us.
  16. All those going on about last season and potential points need to let it go. Its boring and you have absolutely zero chance of that happening due to investment into new ticketing system, and even if te club hadn't I think a clean slate should apply at the start of each season anyway. I'm a ST holder thats doing Citeh which means I'll be at the front of the queue for the £26 Arsenal tickets. Touch. Credit where it's due, good fair decision by the club, if I miss out on big away games later in the season it will be to a Saints fan that has travelled to more games than me, anyone that thinks that's unfair is shot away...
  17. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/19/amir-khan-ricky-hatton As a big Boxing fan I would love this fight to happen. But as a big Hatton fan as well I am slightly worried due to the amount of time since the Pacqiaou (sp) fight and the fact Roach seemed to work him out. Would have to set a date up of March ’13 to give him time to get properly fit and have adequate sparring time. If he could get fit enough what a fight it would be! Forget the Haye v Chisora freak show, this would be up there with Benn v Eubank in terms of interest and class – I seriously think it could sell out City of Manchester or Wembley. Kahn loves to go to war (too much) these days which could play into Hatton’s hands as he always loves to come forward, also Kahn is terrible at fighting on the inside, constantly getting warnings and points deductions for holding – and that is a Hatton strength. Also I could never see Hatton losing to the likes of Prescott, Peterson or Garcia in his prime, just depends on what he's got left in the tank. My only fear/ problem with the fight is what could happen outside the ring. Worried certain idiots would make it a Britain v Pakistan/ Muslim fight and a lot of animosity could come out in the build up from both fighter’s fans.
  18. I am "led to believe" that it fell through.... Can't blame a man for trying though #lad
  19. Was speaking to a well-known current England player down my local in Botley (the night before a recent Hants match), he was pretty boozed up (along with his county Manager, the night before a game too, touché, he had a decent knock the next day) and I started bending his ear re the Ashes tour I went on, the current set up etc. When I asked what he thought of KP and his request to get back into the one day side he simply gave a hand gesture that implied he is a w4nker whilst shaking his head. For me he’ll always be a legend for his knock at the Oval in 05 to seal the Ashes (what a summer), but his absence at Hampshire and his, frankly bizarre, recent decision making have taken the gloss off him.
  20. Just seen a skate post this on POL.... Good - 'orrible, cheating c****
  21. After commuting from Parkway for 7 years I jacked it in in January. My day started by getting up at 05.45 and getting the 06.38 and coming back on the 18.05 if lucky but usually the 18.35 getting me in doors at 7.30pm or 8.00pm. Absolutely killed me in hindsight (I now work in Winchester – bliss….) the worst part is you convince yourself and others that “it’s actually not that bad, only 1hr 5 mins on the train, time to myself, read a good book, catch up on work, others in the office from Essex/ Kent have similar journey times etc etc” when in fact you spend your time working out how many days a year you spend commuting! Signal failures etc are a fookin nightmare when they happen, chaos! Disagree with Turkish regarding rude people etc. I personally like that, hate communicating with some happy clappy moron at 6.45am or (even worse) some weirdo you’ve never met who wants to talk about their new job that doesn’t understand train etiquette of saying nothing and keeping yourself to yourself. Oh, I hope no one on here is part of the “train party” that sit in the same seats with their party food every night and even having Christmas parties! Lived there for 3 years before moving down and commuting for family reasons, in my early 20’s it was amazing – a truly great place to live but crippling financially with all the temptations that come with it! Would absolutely hate to bring kids up there though, dirty, grotty place frequented by people I have nothing in common with. Work wise it’s awesome. Not only in the quality of the job but in the quality of your colleagues. You can recruit awesome staff there (have serious problems at my new place with “small time” attitude of some colleagues) and the perks (wages/ jollies/ working environment etc) are absolutely different level. South Hampshire is an amazing place to live, Hamble, South Downs, New Forest, Solent, Winchester etc and my favourite place in the World, Southampton. If you can get a job that pays more than your outgoings near you here then it’s a pretty happy life you’ll live.
  22. Small world, so was I? Bought a ticket off a tout outside the ground in the home end nehind the goal right on KO for face value with 2 mates. All 16 and smashed! Thought it was Ginola that scored though? Drank in the Red Lion before the game. Did the same at West Ham the game before but I was lucky enough to buy a ticket off a Saints fan in the Queen Anne and saw us batter them about 4-1 (memory hazy, again I was steaming drunk and it was on my 16th Bday).
  23. Might give it a miss, the combination of their hallarious wit there last season "One hundred and three, one hundred and threeeeee, we hold the record, one hundred and three" and the wall of noise from the 27,000 Waitrose rotisserie chicken fed loons tooled up with "rumble sticks" will be too much for me.
  24. Whitey is a top bloke. Got me a ticket for face value in the South Stand at Dean Court for the game down there. Saw my desperate plea on here and despite being offered far more gave it to me for face value. The 2 of us Sat surrounded by the "baying locals" it was great to chat saints and football with such a knowledgable bloke. Get well soon mate!
  25. Just called and block 3 is definately being held back from sale to ST holders. Find this very strange as I know for a fact quite a few renewels moved there. If I had moved there I'd be p***ed off to think I'll be surrounded by day trippers every game! Buying in block 2 now. Just wondering if these are the seats the club are holding back for larger Cup allocations, ie move the bock 42'ers over there when offering 5k allocations etc.
