I heard from someone close to JWP that he has already been earmarked as a future England captain by Hodgson, Southgate et al. I think the fact we all seem to judge James so harshly rather than constantly say how young he is, is testament to his personality and talent. He is superb on and off the pitch and only 20 years old.

Totally agree. Although how many teams who play a midfield three could boast the depth we have in that position? Davis - Wanayama - Schniederlin JWP - Cork - Reed

I'm definitely of the view that Jay should show a sense of loyalty to the club after so much has been spent on his rehabilitation. I know it's an obligation but if my office spent loads of money trying to train me to achieve a promotion, I would then feel a bit bad if I upped and left. That said, I actually think Shane Long is as good a player as Rodriguez (I understand this may not be a widely held belief!) and if we get £20m for a player that hasn't played for 6 months then that's actually good business. I like Jay, and think we are stronger with him in the squad, but we could replace him fairly easily.

I'm guessing if Schneiderlin and Davis are still injured then we'll see Reed get his chance to start, with Long in for Tadic if he doesn't recover. Cork - Wanyama - Reed Long - Pelle - Mane You'd expect some of them to be fit though. Works in our favour that the game is on Monday actually.

I only watched the 2nd half but thought Wilshere played very well

Nail and head spring to mind.

Oh well. 2 weeks ago I had no idea who he was. I assume the club will just promote from within and things will carry on as normal. Finish above Spurs this season and we'll still be first choice for our targets.

I can see it from both sides, and i don't really know how I feel about it. One part of me says the guys has been punished, and if we have faith in the rehabilitation power of prison then he should be free to go about his life again as he pleases. That said, there's no chance I would want him playing for Saints. As a footballer really his job is as a family entertainer and a community representative. Is that really the place for a convicted sex offender?
-
Doesn't mean he has to sign a contract though. But he seems to be enjoying his time here so hopefully he'll stay. He's a top CB, the range of passing he has is like a central midfielder.
-
How do you know this? Although I agree it's unlikely we'll finish top four, it really does annoy me when people state their opinion as fact, it's belittling to other posters who believe otherwise.

You have to take into account as well that we already have an 8 point cushion on 5th placed Arsenal

Looking forward to giving Dean Hammond a good reception. One of my favourite players in the last 5 years.
-
My head says that he wouldn't want to come back, and that really we would be wrong too sign him. But I would love to see him back. Love it.
-
Looking forward to this, my first home game of the season. I think it'll be a fairly confident 3-0 win.

5 goals conceded is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
-
Like it. I had a thought for a new one for Graziano, to the tune of Yellow Submarine: We all sing for the Pelle goal machine, the Pelle goal machine, the Pelle goal machine. We all sing... Etc.

He plays RB as well doesn't he? Maybe he can be the back up to Clyne we need.

These two lads seem to be playing regularly down at Swindon, who are currently 3rd in L1. Anyone seen anything of them and have an insight into whether they'll make it with Saints? A big strength seems to be their relationship with each other. Would love to see them come through and be our CB pairing for many years. I guess they need a couple more seasons in the game, CBs tend to need a bit more time to mature.

I think a draw here would be a decent result provided we do the business against Leicester. Then we have Villa away which is again very winnable. I would have definitely have taken it on Saturday morning if offered two wins and a draw out of the three games in eight days.
-
Should win, but by no means a foregone conclusion. Good atmosphere at Bramall Lane which should lift them, they've done well in cups of late
-
Played brilliantly tonight
-
Mean Gardos obviously. Also how **** is Bojan?!
-
Cracking. Stoke really put their weight about second half. Hairdos was a bit shakey. MOTM for me was Long - he was brilliant tonight. Schniederlin and Davis awesome as ever too.
-
He's made 10 changes tonight. If they get beaten there'll be a backlash, cups are a huge opportunity for a team like Spurs.

If I was Jay, I think I would feel a sense obligation to my employers who have not only paid me for 6 months while I haven't been able to work, but also paid for all my treatment. He shouldn't leave before the end of the season - he owes us that.
