  1. Obama should start the ass-kicking ASAP. If BP goes down, I won't miss it. Same goes for the rest of the nasty oil companies who have been raping the world for so long.
  2. Far from the cops beign thick, I suspect it's just some PR bod in trying to fidn a local angle to get a story into the local press. Sorry to disappoint you, Stuey.
  3. I should have put 'stealth', because it's clearly not that stealthy, much like many of the taxes that were branded 'stealth'. The fact is that they will advertise the tickets at one price, then charge another. It's a **** way to treat fans and makes even more of a mockery of watching football in this country. £25 for third tier football is a bit over the odds IMO. rollyeyes
  4. Why not just put £3 on the ticket price? This is stealth taxation worthy of the previous Government.
  5. I don't have enough facial hair to grow a beard. I'll stick with good old fashioned pub grub rather than the ****ty British version of tapas. In my experience you need to spend about £20 to get enough food to fill up. We don't do it the way the Spanish intended.
  6. Anywhere that has uncomfortable seats, serves tapas and charges more than £3 for a pint is off the radar. As far as Southampton pubs go, I reckon the Platform Tavern is a pretty good bet, though I haven't been there for a season or so.
  7. You can get your own made up by some websites. I think I used one called barmyflags.com, or something along those lines. A 9X5 comes in at about £80 or so.
  8. How about a pint of ****?
  9. I'm not sure you have been?
  10. "Watch how it makes your fist rotate, just like in a punch." I reckon I could get to 100 in about 3 weeks.
  11. You all need to grow up.
  12. Clarkson is a mong. His last paragraph doesn't make any sense. We are no longer in a recession. He should be abolished.
  13. No, he was saying Boo-urns. I hope Cameron follows through his pledge to make the country fairer.
  14. However unpalatable the Tories are on the face of it, I guess differences have to be put aside for the good of the country. You never know, their nastier policies may even be blunted by this deal. Wait and see.
  15. 1. What FPTP with the party whip system achieves is pretty much a dictatorship. 2. PR is a step into the future of the politics of consensus, where adults are forced to talk to, rather than shout at, each other.
  16. *rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble*
  17. If Clegg strikes a deal with the Tories, it will be difficult to swallow for the grassroots Lib Dems. If he strikes a deal with the Tories based on electoral reform, it won't be so bad.

  19. I will deal with your points in turn. 1. Nick Clegg may have gone to an expensive private school, but he represents a party that has shown a commitment to redistribution of income. Unlike the Tories, who want to ensure the rich stay rich. 2. I am no fan of Tony Blair. 3. It's because Cameron is a Tory - the party of the toffs - and it's an easy criticism to level. 4. If a person goes to a massively expensive private school they already have a massive advantage over everybody else. That's just a fact, I'm afraid. Old boys networks definitely exist. Look at the way Cameron was given a top job in Tory central office, then another one with Granada television. 5. At the moment, we vote for a constituency candidate, not a party leader. However, one must look at things as a whole, not just on the level of the candidate. Clegg may have a privileged background, but at least he stands for more than simply maintaining the status quo in both the structure of society and the political system.
  20. Indeed. I'm set for a long night in Weston-super-Mare. The incumbent Tory, a Cambridge graduate from a £24k-a-year private school and lives in a huge mansion outside of town, is facing a battle with the Lib Dem, who went to a local state school and llives in a town centre terrace. I know who I think is better representative of the constituency.
  21. David Cameron is a fan of this song. Paul Weller said: "If you don't even get what this is about, you're not up to running a country." I agree with Paul.
  22. Orient for the pub crawl Carlisle for the long political debate on the train home Gas for the result Worst - Tranmere. Not a drop of real ale in sight.
  23. Indeed. An inheritance of £600k should be enough for anybody. The fact that the Tories are proposing this at a time when they are planning immediate and damaging cuts to public services adds further weight to the argument that they are exactly the same as they always have been. All Cameron's talk of compassion and society is just a facade. In the interests of fairness, the Queen should give back the wealth her ancestors took by force hundreds of years ago.
  24. http://www.fridgemagnet.org.uk/toys/dave-met.php Dave has been talking to a lot of people recently.
  25. Give me a good pint of real ale and I'll have a half time pint. Why not get Ringwood in as a supplier? Keep it nice, keep it local.
