  1. Great to get the 3 points in and I'm chuffed for Sharp, but dare I suggest we missed Guly today?
  2. You might be missing my point. I agree with pretty much all of your post. My original question was (maybe not well worded) how much do you think (obviously a rough estimate, based on various assumptions) we'd need to spend to regularly compete towards the top of the table and not 'mid-table'? And would NC etc sanction such spending? There is a big difference from sensible spending on quality, long-term infrastructure and speculating on player purchases to compete at the top of the Prem.
  3. No, I'm well aware of the rule change. Personally I think they'll favour the already established bigger clubs more, but we'll see.
  4. Whoever does those Saints Player/Solent interviews really doesn't help, rubbish questions, badly paced.
  5. That'd my take on it. All very professional & if we're winning other really doesn't matter, but I can't be bothered to watch them anymore.
  6. Exactly my thoughts on the matter.
  7. He thinks we're going to compete at the top of the table without serious spending on the first team squad. There is no precedent for that happening in the last 20 years of English football. Its fairly straight forward to understand.
  8. You always get occasional freak results in football and the odd anomaly in the league table, but what you are suggesting in your earlier post is Saints regularly competing towards the top end of the table "not in mid-table". There has been no instance in the last 20 years of a team competing regularly towards the top without spending big. That's not really going to change. I've got no doubt NC is ambitious. I've got no doubt that our Staplewood plans are impressive and will have a significantly positive impact on the club going forward. However, none of us really know how far NC and the Liebherr's are going to be prepared to fund serious spending on the playing squad. Of course we'll buy quality, but I think you'll find that with some of the hopes you've got in your head, you'll be sorely disappointed.
  9. Ok for the VERY hard of thinking, such as yourself, of course no-one would 'know'. What do you think a club would reasonably anticipate to spend on its playing squad to achieve such goals? Can make reasonable assumptions based on players coming through the ranks, etc, as with any estimate.
  10. I'll take that as a 'don't know' then. 2 years/top 5 were just picked by me off the top of my head as rough parameters of what this plan for success you might be referring to, but please feel free to change them accordingly to what you think might be a closer range. I never said you could only be successful by spending huge amounts.
  11. Think I've asked you this before and not got an answer - how much do you think we'd need to spend on the first team squad, over lets say the next 2 years, in order to regularly compete in the top 5 of the Prem & regularly qualify for Europe.
  12. For what it's worth, been told the players enter the ground at the Chapel end, where they park their cars these days, as oppossed to the main entrance as they used to. Not sure how true that info is though.
  13. I reckon we might be sold, but with NC still running the club. Partly based on a hunch, partly based on a few snippets of info. Don't think we'd be off-loaded to just anyone, but at the end of the day none of us really know.
  14. Bit up in the air then as to whether we'd get more tickets.
  15. Another pointless thread. Just full of random speculation that anyone could easily have worked out themselves anyway.
  16. Riding a "Boris Bike" and playing top level football probably require slightly different levels of fitness and prep I'd guess?
  17. For what it's worth, I think he meant "end" as in the general term for an "away end", as opposed to an actual end of the ground. If we're being pedantic, we haven't got the whole side stand, few blocks left for segregation.
  18. To be fair, you're right, that's just as quick as going ip via Clapham, decent deal there.
  19. I agree that Lambert has improved considerably since he joined us, but my point is that fundamentally, he is still the same type of forward - if you look at what is being suggested further up the page re. Sharp, it's very rare and unlikely to change an established player's style of play to that extent. I've seen a fair bit of Sharp and can't see his style of play changing too much (that's not to say I don't think he's a good player). I do definitely agree that Adkins specialises in getting the most out of players. I'd suggest our results/performances this season have been greater than the sum of our individual parts so to speak.
  20. I'm not judging anyone. Doncaster at home isn't exactly a glamour game. Just surprised its panned out this way that's all. Worked out perfectly for the club in terms of making money out of ticket sales.
  21. Not getting excited. Just find it interesting and trying to work out what is happening with sales for the Skates game. I'll ask again, you do know which thread you're posting on? I think the majority on here wouldn't have assumed we'd sell more for Donny than Skates, if that is in fact the case. For what its worth, I think they'll be a fair few empty seats dotted around tomorrow.
  22. Are you this boring in real life? Or only on here? You do realise this thread is to discuss what is happening with sales of tickets for the skates game? What did you think it was about?
  23. fantastic contribution as always you bore. How many games a season to you see? One or two? Go back to your boat.
