Cheers Pilchards ! Sounds as though we have ( courtesy of Markus) recruited a potential "good'un" ! Loved hearing about the discipline he is instilling - long overdue (IMO)

Where we are now, then value for money is very important and does Big Greg justify his high wages in L1 ? I prefer his all round play to John's, but both can score goals if given the service and perhaps John is far better suited to bullying those hairy arsed L1 centre backs than Greg is.. One of John or Greg I suspect !
-
I think he is the cone at the far end !
-
I would say so -
-
Thankfully not !
-
Its difficult to know what defines locally ! London, Reading, Surrey etc ( Where Pardew has associations) are all within an hour of SMS ! Thats not a problem surely.
-
Suspect it is about competent chairmen. Madjeski is a good example of one..
-
Fair enough - You are entitled to that ! But do you think its a reflection on the competence of Markus and Team or simply in your view, the best we can get ? Do Markus' other actions and decisions ( Ex Pardew) give you confidence ?
-
Its those damn Freemasons again !
-
Whats he done now ? :-k
-
But would'nt it have been weaker to persist with Wotte rather than make a bold and decisive statement that he is not the man - There are better out there and I'm going to get one ?

A dignified, measured and professional purchase of the club, an ability to make clear and timely decisions and the ability to attract a potentially excellent new manager. Not yet 3 weeks into the post and already I have seen greater competence at board level than at any time in the last 10 years ! I personally would like to congratulate and thank ML for restoring my confidence and pride in my football club - It has been many years since I have felt this positive about the club. Would be interested in other peoples early impressions of ML and his team..
-
In the top 10 just missing the play-offs ! But winners of the Johnstones Paint Trophy ! Would settle for that this season...
-
Well he is the same age as me ! Vanity is no bad thing....
-
Unless he has Stephen Milligan tendencies..
-
Yes for the first time in a long time, everything seems to be in the right place! Good news owners, good young manager and a genuine "feel good factor" despite the -10 ! Never did I think I would get excited by L1 football - But I am !
-
Wrong former Charlton and West Ham Manager I think !
-
Happy with this appointment.. Has a decent track record and came within minutes of winning the Cup Final in 2006. Like Wes above, I have also heard he is a "no nonsense" disciplinarian which is something we have cried out for ( Bar the all to short Pearson tenure) since WGS ! Wecome Alan and good luck with the challenges ahead ! SMS will be right behind you !
-
Amen to that !
-
Would be a great acquisition although I think he needs to shed a stone to get down to a good playing weight !
-
Yes they have been done !

Good fortune My Arse ! Masterminding the winning of a world cup in an international sport is a monumental achievement for any Head Coach/Manager, and that he did it in the Australians own backyard heightens the achievement even more. I agree with Um Pahars that he was perhaps the right man at the wrong time at Saints and he was always up against it with the usual British Media attitude of hoping that winners fail, but in no way should his achievement in bringing the greatest moment to an English Team Sport since 1966 be de-valued. That day in the autumn of 2003 ranks amongst my happiest ever !

Its only an offer right now ! We are now in a much more healthy situation where we can tell them to go and boil their head if we want to. £750k is too cheap and if we are to sell then we should hold out for more.
-
Agree with that ! Markus and Co seem very adept decision makers and I am more than happy to trust their judgement to do whatever is right for the club.
-
Agree - And how refreshing that will be too !
