  1. In all fairness, Pards has not made a bad signing yet. All of his acquisitions have made an impact in one way or another. But my choice goes to Hammond - Somebody who actually drives the midfield play better than I have seen at the club for 4 or 5 seasons.
  2. Now theres a roll call of lunatics that even made Old Rupes look sane.. Add to that Bellotti at Brighton who sold off the Goldstone for gain without finding anywhere else for the Seagulls to play - Other than Gillingham !! Unbelievable ! Did Knighton ever become Manure's chairman for a short stint - Can anybody imagine Rupert doing Mr Woo style "keepy Uppys" in front of the Northam ! LOL..........
  3. An absolutely class finish that followed a great first touch. Pray god he remains fit and healthy because if he does, I am convinced he will add so much value and class to our already decent squad.
  4. Other than his first few months trial over 2 seasons ago, he has Just not played for the shirt at all ! No thought for him has been spared by me and I would move him out as quick as possible!
  5. I always remember the quote from the magnificent Mr Brian Clough when asked for hios opinion on football hooliganism in the early 80's.. " Football hooligans ? Well there are 92 league chairmen for a start" ! Everybody has had them, and we have had more than our fair share - Thank god we now have a really good one!
  6. But plenty of action too.... The strong coaching and scouting team put in place by ML/NC is a cracking good start. For the first time in a long time, I am seeing words backed up by delivery and it goes a long way to engender trust and regard towards an apparantly very competent board !
  7. Ah - But he went to the business school that taught the old fashioned approach - " The customer is never right" !
  8. Well said ! TL = Mike Wilde ( Populist spinners with no substance).
  9. Similar line to me. Even 13 year old lads like mine cannot help but be carried away by the passion of a football match. Besides I have always thought that its character building anyway ! But once outside of course.... :smt011
  10. All told, Jaidi is a great signing. Notwithstanding his experience and ability, he is an absolute mountain of a man who would intimidate any centre-forward placed up against him. He had a good game on Saturday and once he has regained his match fitness, I am sure these will turn from good games into great games for us.
  11. Absolutely right ! The stars of that 2006/2007 season were already at the club before he arrived - Jones, Bale, Baird ! I might add that Georgie boy's spending spree in the summer of 2006 delivered the square root of bugger all in terms of return. He bought badly !! He was unsupervised by the idiot Wilde, so he had carte-blanche to spend more cash than any of our rivals that season ( other than perhaps Brum) and still managed to neglect our defence which was our achilles heel throughout the season. He also failed to bring in a leadership type player that might have made us more mentally tough on the field so we did'nt ship so many late points. He was as inspiring as Clement Freud and really gave no indication he was happy to manage our club. Quite why so many give him the benefit of the doubt is beyond me..
  12. I will certainly give you Redknapp who on paper was well equipped to keep us up but failed ! However I will take strong issue with you on Pearson. He took charge midway through a season (Virtually immediately post Burley), where morale in the club was on the floor, the players did not have any direction or leadership, where destructive boardroom disagreements were rife and he had to turn us around with the players he had and very few games to do it ! He succeeded ! He also showed more commitment, leadership and presence than I had seen at the club since Strachan. I am chuffed to bits that AP is at the club now, but lamented the crass decision to release Pearson at that time. He was an up and coming manager with talent when put in the right surroundings ( as he is now with Leicester), would flourish and succeed.
  13. But they were in the role a considerably longer period of time than Georgie Boy! Ted and Mac also proved that they knew how to lead, motivate and instill a fine work ethic within the team. Burley had money to spend and had a good squad to work with, against a generally very mediocre set of opposing teams at the time - And yet these other mediocre teams showed on many occasions far more cohesion and effort than we did ( Baird,Bale and Jones aside I would suggest). We were generally slovenly and careless and the attitude set from the top engendered this malaise.
  14. Maybe he did and you might argue that with the relative riches at his disposal he should have won more, and succeeded better ! But the guy never in my opinion, gave any impression that he had himself (let alone had the capability to instill in his charges) a winning mentality into the club. I recall with anguish the countless points we threw away in games under his leadership - 2006/2007 season chiefly when late opposition equalisers or winners were scored putting paid to our promotion hopes. He was mundane, uninspiring and dis-interested and I am convinced his demeanor rubbed off on to the squad themselves
  15. George "Bleedin" Burley !
  16. With apologies to the memory of Michael Jackson... Let me show you, let me show you the Wai...Go !! Taxi please....
  17. Only the Pulis family I think ! He could ast last pay some "board" to his "Owd Fella" !!
  18. On the playing side I agree, but I do believe the biggest statement of intent was Markus and Nic axing Wotte and appointing Pardew! It then followed that Pardew with the backing of ML/NC has recruited well! I feel optimistic that this promising side Pards has put together will give us a good show this season.
  19. Agree: We are effectively just getting through the pre-season that we missed... pre-season! Plenty of time - AP will come good for us.
  20. Hardly Muntari, Crouch or Defoe are they ?? Think your financial pull is somewhat less than it was
  21. Theres been a few re-registrations in different guises from a few people in all fairness.. UTS ( and his many numbered offshoots) and Stanley for two. Now I bet they are so happy to be in the same category as 19C
  22. That's too much to ask for - Is it?
  23. It will more than likely be swept under the carpet - Nothing must publically sully the PL brand after all ! I think their demise is well underway through nothing else but bad morale in the camp! The good "Dr" has hardly covered himself with glory over the past few months, and as he does'nt seem to have that many beans to spend then they will continue to lose their better players and only being able to afford to replace them by mediocrity. Sound the death knell bell Diddyman Westwood!
  24. Its been pretty invisible for some time in all fairness and has hardly unearthed a rich seam of talent like other clubs have. Cooper was of course there for several years until he was relieved of his duties and of course Gorman came in to do the scout job until he was promoted to the ill-fated D&G management partnership. Since then - Nothing until now!
