I think Mawhinney's view includes all those that have run the club in recent times Including the likes of Hone and Crouch. -
Like many of you, I'm afraid that I know several Poopey Fans who for some reason are revelling in our situation. Jokes sent to me this morning from Blue Few acquaintances .... Strange thing this global warming - Nice and sunny in Portsmouth and -10 in Southampton. Three ships have left the port of Southampton never to return - The Titanic, The Premiership and the Championship ! I suggest we bank these for the inevitable time when we will be able to repay such sentiments in much greater measure...
-
But there is precious little business left ! Rupert has gone so in the words of Mrs T " Rejoice at that news" !
-
It's this type of naive behaviour that has led me to tell anybody who cares to listen that he is not suitable as a chairman of this club. He is prone to gaffe's and he never gives any assurance that he is in control of his brief. Therefore it was no surprise to hear he said what he said...
-
Virtually from the start I never liked nor trusted him.. It was those ridiculous " Lets Go Wilde" T-Shirts that were put on sale in the Megastore that gave me an inkling as to how much of a self-publicist with no substance person he was.. I personally do not want to hear anything else from him !!!

Not Quite GITR - I think Rhonda preferred chilled Remy Martin to Rupert the Bear Jumpers... Whole different class of idiot

The appointment of Wigley was wholly wrong and the start of our demise...

For those who thought Administration would be a good thing - Bloody great is'nt it ?? Thanks to all the various idiots we have had the misfortune to have been saddled with over the past few years - The whole bloody lot of them have contributed to this and NO exceptions !! -
Why? The Saints boardroom has been riven by division and dis-harmony for far too long now and Crouch has made his fair share of contribution towards it. I firmly see him as part of the problem and not the solution to this clubs ills. As for over-reacting and misleading statements, then I suggest you read some of his media proclamations over the past couple of years ( SCW, Investors due etc) and his repeated briefing for and against various sides and people through the media and/or others to further his agenda. I think I have read on another thread that only this week, he is passing his thoughts through Richard Chorley knowing they will find their way into the media. Many of these in my opinion are not helpful in the current climate especially as he now has nothing to do with running the club. Notwithstanding the above, if he has done as you state in your final paragraphs ( and you are clearly close to him to know this information) then that is of course commendable - But he is not the only one acting for the good of the club and it does not necessarily make him a fit and proper person to be involved in the higher echelons of this club in the future. All IMO of course !
-
But the valid question remains - Why Crouch ? He is only a fan now with no power within the club so how does he know exactly whats going on ? Lets face it he has a history of over-reacting and issuing misleading statements ( albeit perhaps unintentionally) - But nonetheless he likes to play to the media and I for one ( and I know I am not alone in this) do not trust him ! If things are that parlous, then why does'nt Fry or as 19C suggests, The Club Captain make the call to arms? This would have a far more galvanising affect don't you think. No use chucking money into a bottomless pit with no tangible evidence on how it will be used.
-
My god we don't have to have one of those do we ??? :smt119
-
He has taken more than his fair share of stick over the past 3 seasons, but boy has he stepped up to the plate in terms of performance and leadership. Well done KD !

This smells like political opportunism to me and is certainly by no means the only and best option for the club. Tread carefully all ! -

Hypo is absolutely correct. I too rumbled him quite early on.. -
Please lets have no more experiments or "up and coming promising" managers.... As much experience that we can afford would be the order of the day IMO..
-
Dowie will be at least 3 times better off financially being a backroom assistant at the Toon plus he always said that he wanted to "live up north" so why on earth would he come here.. Similarly Ince would want a wage much greater than we could afford to pay and the first sign of a Prem or even a higher CCC job he would be offski... Lets modify our sights to our situation shall we ? We will be looking a fair way down the list of "wines and spirits" when it comes to a managerial name - And Magilton might be our best option.
-
Forget the likes on Ince and Dowie because there is no way we could pay them a wage that would come near their expectations. Magilton could be one that is within our price range and all things being equal - we could do a lot worse.

A very commendable approach from Derry - A poster who I have great respect for. However, I am really struggling to see how such a disparate group of interests can create a cohesive and unifying plan to run this football club. The successive boardrooms of this club over the past 6 or 7 years have been riven with division, dis-unity, did-harmony and give the impression they could not agree on what biscuits to put on the corporate box plates never mind what is best for Soton FC. What I am desperate to see is a wholly fresh, professional and united boardroom that knows what it is doing and can stop the rot and build constaructively towards a brighter future. I really do not think this can happen with the current proposed set up and the number of differing interested parties involved. -
Or for just stating the bleeding obvious ! He's played his part in us reaching the depths we have plummeted to, so all these rallying cries are all a bit rich to me !!
-
Crouch does not have any appeal !!!

Yes I agree.. The Saints Boardroom has been riven with division and dis-unity for far too long, and Leon has had his hands full square in the mix. Briefing for, briefing against, undermining you name it - And when he did get his 6 months in the hotseat he did nothing at all to persuade me that he was an able chairman of this club - He even replicated Ruperts biggest ever balls up by appointing caretaker managers and then quickly annointing them full time in the job when it was plain to most that D&G were not up to the task. Lawrie had to get him out of the mess by facilitating Pearson's appointment. We need to move full square away from anybody who has presided at this club over the past 7 years since our fall from grace - Lowe, Leon, Wilde the whole lot... We must have a fresh start ! -

All 3 of them are blithering idiots and by their decision making and judgement ( or rather lack of it), have contributed in varying degrees to our lamentable situation now. I long for the day when there will be no need to discuss any of those 3 due to them having no power or no say in how the club is run.
