  1. Yes, thank god there was such an improvement after he was sacked, wasn't the quality of players at all...
  2. Meslier is a poor keeper, very error prone, hence why Leeds have ditched him on promotion. In our last Championship season, I believe statistically only Bazunu was worse than him. He does make more saves than Baz though. It shows you can get promoted with a sub-standard goalkeeper, but you need to be scoring goals at the other end. We did that last time, think we might struggle with that this time around.
  3. In the Premier League. There's no way we're spending that much on one player in the Championship and nor should we. I'd be horrified if we spunked £25m on Sargent, who really isn't that great anyway.
  4. To be fair some of his movement off the ball was good today, but we have no-one capable of picking him out. He's just not getting much service at the moment. Far too early to be writing him off.
  5. Whether you like it or not, we signed Downs to be our main 'number 9'. When we also have Stewart, Archer and AA, we won't be signing another one.
  6. If we'd gone for Iraola, people on here would have been accusing the club of trying to be clever and going for the hipster's choice.
  7. I've never understood views like this, like they think they're doing us a favour by lowballing us on our star players. Let's offer £25m for Bowen, and if they reject it give them the silent treatment until they start negotiating.
  8. Yes, how dare little old Southampton hold out for market value for the few actually good players we have, rather than just accepting whatever these PL big boys want to pay. F*cking moron.
  9. Just noticed Mislav Orsic got a goal and an assist for Pafos in their Champions League qualifier tonight.
  10. THB likely to play https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25378281.still-talks-selection-harwood-bellis-set-carabao-cup-return/
  11. Didn't think we played well over all, but we did create a lot of chances. Probably deserved the win in the end but plenty to work on. Wrexham won't pull up any trees this season but they should comfortably have enough to survive.
  12. People on here keep banging on about Johansson, who no one had heard of before he played against us for Rotherham. Just because you've never heard of him doesn't mean he's crap.
  13. Not viewed as a direct replacement, but they did sign this guy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cjd2dlek1z7o
  14. I've been to America plenty of times and aside from the obesity, that isn't my experience at all. I would say a lot of Brits meet that description though.
  15. We were in terminal decline under Gao, it's only thanks to Ralph that we didn't get relegated sooner than we did. But it was coming even without the takeover as we had no money to spend. SR have made a mess of things but we'd have been relegated under Gao too before long.
  16. As a Reform voter I don't necessarily disagree with a lot of those, but I'd have Starmer over Corbyn any day. The thought of Corbyn anywhere near power is scary. Problem with Starmer is he sways with the wind a lot, so it's hard to say he's honest, principled etc.
  17. Well of course the squad will be weaker, we got relegated. That's football. Fernandes and Dibling will almost certainly go, but we will bring players in who are hopefully good enough to get us promoted. Early signs from Quarshie and Downs are promising.
  18. Decent loan fee, wages off the books, and he'd still be our player so could come back if we get promoted next year. As long as we're able to replace him (probably with another loan) then it makes sense for all parties really.
  19. It's an absolute beauty...apart from the lack of stripes on the back again. Why?!
  20. The trouble is, even players like those you mention cost relatively big money these days. Why is it on this forum that if people have never heard of someone, it must mean they're crap and Saints are being 'clever'? What do people think scouts are for? Clubs like Saints absolutely have to be clever in the transfer market. I know nothing about this guy and if he signs and turns out to be crap then fair enough. But we had the same crap when Fernandes was linked last year. Were we trying to be 'clever' then? Besides, most of the bigger deals happen at the end of the window. I'm sure we'll sign one or two more known quantities then, but we already have plenty in our ranks.
  21. Scary, yet not at all surprising.
  22. Yes please. Have a mate who's a Celtic fan and has been raving about him for the last two years.
  23. Not really arguing, just saying I don't think Sargent is realistic. Got the £20M figure from here. Sainz one I'd have liked but again realistically out of our reach. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx23d1dn38qo
  24. Norwich want around £20M for Sargent and he has Premier League interest. Signing proven Championship goalscorers when you're in the Championship is very difficult, besides which we already have a few in our ranks. Whoever we sign will be a gamble but Downs looks like a good profile.
