  1. I'd argue he's the opposite of a typical SR signing. He's 27 so not some untested kid from Man City that we'll look to develop. We were reportedly very close to signing him in the summer, but I thought he was more of a winger than a striker and we went for Fellows and Scienza instead. So it could just be lazy journalism, who knows. Either way, I think people need to get check their expectation levels. We're a mid table Championship team and it's the January transfer window. Anyone we sign is going to be a punt to some degree. It hasn't worked out for Guilavogui at Lens but he had a decent time in the Bundesliga.
  2. I think Jordan James has been their best player this season. The fact we might (Hopefully) wear the commemorative shirt is the most interesting thing about this game.
  3. That Villa game does seem to have been a noticeable turning point, and I would love to see our Premier League record since that match. It would be horrific. I remember coming away from the home win over Norwich in the previous game thinking we might actually have our Saints back. However I don't think it was that inexplicable. The squad had been on a constant decline since Koeman left and Ralph had us punching way above our weight, it was never sustainable. SR have been disastrous but the rot had already set in way earlier under Gao, and we were heading in this direction regardless. We've had the odd glimmer of hope such as the 2017 cup final, the good form under project restart and the playoff win, but overall it has been a steady decline for 10 years and shows no signs of stopping. It's been very hard work and you can tell it's taken its toll on the fanbase.
  4. Considering his lack of game time you'd expect some rustiness, and will probably take him a few weeks to get up to speed. Some erratic moments but also some good ones. The first goal looked bad but he was blocked off by the Donny player. Thing I liked most was how vocal he was, shouting at the defenders. Seems a long time since we've seen that.
  5. We'll see but I just don't see a PL player in him at all, he doesn't have the attributes, and even his much hyped ability on the ball hasn't been evident. He's looked like a deer in the headlights. You say Wood has been horrific, and I agree he's not been great, but has still been better than Edwards.
  6. It's a beautiful shirt, and well presented. Would love to have it, but absolutely no chance at that price. The cost of football shirts these days is scandalous.
  7. If true about Edwards, that's excellent business. Thought he'd be good for us in the Championship but he's been pretty dreadful, a huge disappointment. Fantastic if we've made a profit.
  8. God Everton fans are such dislikable gobby twats. Ref got those decisions spot on.

    PROTEST

The atmosphere was non existant before the change. It hasn't got any worse. The main issue is we have been so shit for a prolongued period of time, that there is a real malaise among the fanbase.
  10. Never been so bored at a football match. There was a bit of "backwards again ole ole" near the end.
  11. No, this country (and planet as a whole) is already horribly overpopulated so encouraging it to grow even more is not a good thing. Controlled and managed migration, filling the holes that need filling, is fine. But it's been anything but for the last 20 years.
  12. Since Tonda took charge, we have won 6 out of 8 games and scored 22 goals, more than anyone else in the league. Is that not a pretty huge improvement? Of course there are still issues especially in defence, but I'm not sure why people expect him to be some kind of miracle worker. He still has the same mostly shit defenders and goalkeepers to choose from, and that probably won't change until at least the summer.
  13. Stoke have already fallen away. Only just above us on GD and lost 5 of their last 6. Think we have a shot at 2nd but we're not catching Coventry.
  14. This. I have nothing in particular against Wolves but it's comforting to see another set of fans having to go through the same ordeal as we did last season. I've seen them a few times recently and they really are awful. Bellegarde looks their only potentially PL quality player, the rest of them are terrible. I think they might actually be worse than we were last season.
  15. We definitely should not be underestimating them. They have some good players and although their away form is poor, most of their defeats have only been by the odd goal. They're only 2 points worse off than us. I'd take a scrappy 1-0 win all night.
  16. Really enjoyed that, some baffling negative posts in here. We're never going to boss a game for 90 minutes against a dangerous team like Birmingham and the subs are to keep players fresh for another 3 game week. Overall I thought we were very good and should have scored more. My only complaint is Manning, please drop him. Bloke's a liability. All aboard the Tonda train!
  17. Got injured right at the end of the Leicester game
  18. Please get Welington in next game. Manning is absolute dogshit, a few goals and assists doesn't change that.
  19. It's simple, if you can't afford to have kids then don't. Disgusting that hard working people are expected to pay for people to pop out more little brats.
  20. I'm in the Northam and thought it was shit. People more interested in singing about Nathan Jones than Saints songs, couldn't even get a decent OWTS going. Felt very flat to me.
  21. Smallest away following for a long time, was very surprised. Also disappointed with our attendance and support in general last night. It's like our fans have forgotten how to react to winning games, or maybe it's because it was just so comfortable. Very difficult to get any decent chants going but the morons around me were happy to sing about Nathan f*cking Jones (WTF)?
  22. Of course, 8th and a cup final sounds great on the face of it, but context is certainly important. Our finishes in the three seasons prior were 8th, 7th and 6th so it wasn't an improvement on what came before. Granted we lost some good players but he still had a decent squad including VVD, and made poor use of Caceres (playing Stephens over him) The 46 points we got was a very low anomaly for 8th place, points wise we were closer to the relegation zone than the team above us. The fact we finished 8th was more down to how poor the other teams were than us being good. More importantly, we were heading in the wrong direction. Our form after the cup final was poor, especially at home. Five consecutive home games without scoring, the football was dull as fuck. The cup run was great though and he deserves credit for that, some great memories. We really should have won it.
  23. Bit of a crazy overreaction to a tweet from Alex Crook of all people. I certainly don't want Tonda to get the job full time but I have no problem with keeping him in interim charge for a bit longer. Fact is there are no outstanding candidates out there at the moment so whoever they appointed would probably be a bit meh and not unite the fanbase. There will no doubt be plenty of managerial movement in the next few weeks, so why not hold fire and see if some more desirable candidates become available? It's clear TE was being groomed to be Still's long term replacement but it's not the right time to give him the job currently and I suspect they realise that, regardless of how highly they rate him.
  24. No, stop being a miserable git. Unless it's GON, then we'll just give him the wanker sign.
  25. As did Redknapp. I assume you'd have him back too.
