  1. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2011/18aug_cmemovie/ August 18, 2011: For the first time, a spacecraft far from Earth has turned and watched a solar storm engulf our planet. The movie, released today during a NASA press conference, has galvanized solar physicists, who say it could lead to important advances in space weather forecasting. “The movie sent chills down my spine,” says Craig DeForest of the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado. "It shows a CME swelling into an enormous wall of plasma and then washing over the tiny blue speck of Earth where we live. I felt very small.”
  2. Excuse me but I didn't write it, comment on it as to if I thought is is/isn't possible. I only posted the link which someone else passed to me. All I will say however is that it is always interesting to read all kinds of different stories as it can make people at least think. Also I still like my mind being introduced to new stuff as it helps stave off altzimers ( or however its spelt ) A mind that refuses to at least look at new ideas become like a stagnant pond. .

  4. Yes but it is not permanent, it only kicks in when the computer says so. I also don't like "SUV" but wrote that as I thought people would recognise it. Well after a short "chat" we agreed to take the new vehicle thank goodness.
  5. Magistrates Association sentencing committee chairman Peter Chapman says it's unlikely any of the younger offenders will go to jail for their part in the riots. "The statistical probability of going to prison for a young person appearing in the youth court for the first time is very low. It would have to be a very serious grievous crime," he says. Mr Chapman says shoplifting, breaking and entering or burning a car would fall short of being considered serious enough to send someone under 18 to jail.

Well so much for strong action then lads just help yourselves.
  7. In about 45 minutes we have to go out on a 100 mile trip along country roads, it is raining quite hard and large trucks use this road as a short cut. We have the choice of 2 vehicles, a brand new SUV with all the bells and whistles re safety and an 11 year old Astra which only has 2 air bags. Which one would you take ? My wife wants to take the Astra in case someone crashes into us and damages the new one
  8. Heard some brainless girl on radio this morning saying it was good fun and she hoped that it would continue tonight. She also said something along the lines of it is attacking rich people because if you own a business you are rich. Well when we owned our own business we were not rich and had lots of worries, we will never ever be self employed again. What are the schools over there in the UK teaching them ? Obviously not how to read otherwise they would read that the UK is in a major financial hole and the vast majority of small and businesses are struggling. Anyway be safe people and keep well away from trouble. .
  9. I thought starting threads FAO and naming one person was against forum rules ? Just asking, not saying.
  10. Anyone seen this and like to post their honest opinion please ?
  11. Just a thought but how about removing the quote facility as I get fed up when people use it to reply sometimes. The reason being they quote very very long posts and then put "This" or "I agree" type reply. This must take up a lot of bandwidth and space ? Would said removal help the whole forum run smoother ?
  12. What a plonker http://ventnorblog.com/2011/08/07/dramatic-collision-betwen-yacht-and-tanker-photo-gallery/ .
  13. Perhaps the spuds are training Jordon just in case 'arry is unable to do so for a few weeks or months ?
  14. Re that Burnley forum anyone else notice the list with how many posts individual posters have made ? Some make Dell Days and BTF look like a part timers
  15. Click photo to view more images. (AP/NASA/JPL) LOS ANGELES (AP) — The first close-up pictures of the massive asteroid Vesta reveal a northern hemisphere littered with craters — including a trio nicknamed "Snowman" — and a smoother southern half, researchers reported Monday. Running along the asteroid's equator are deep grooves — a surprise to scientists who did not expect to see such features. http://news.yahoo.com/scientists-stunned-surface-asteroid-vesta-204550456.html
  16. Perhaps they are using the same lot HMRC used and whom grasped defeat out of the jaws of victory :x

  18. What would you do if the plods said you were involved in a robbery but your car tracker said that at that time you were doing 150 M.P.H.?
  19. http://theblokeyshed.com/forums/index.php Some quite funny threads on here
  20. Does this mean you are saying all the spelling / grammar police / pedants on here are really all MLG ?
  21. Just read an interesting thread on another Forum about having your cars number plates stolen. I thought it would be to put on another car to disguise it in a robbery, avoiding speeding camera tickets or drive away without paying for petrol but something I hadn't thought of was, probably because I am not a total criminal :- "That's because the "crime" being committed is that of driving without tax, insurance, mot and/or licence in the same colour/model of car as yours. Any time the "clone" goes through an ANPR check it gets flagged as your car with insurance, tax, etc, so the scrotes are sitting pretty until they have an accident or get flagged for any other reason. So if they are careful there is no reason for Plod to pull them over so no chance of their little scam being rumbled." An excellent idea to help avoid these tickets however rather than just saying you were not there, sometimes difficult to remember exactly where you were and indeed prove it. is to do what this poster said :- "Just a thought - did your numberplates have the blue GB/Euro stars panel on the lefthand side - or perhaps the Saltire? If so, suggest you order plain replacement plates without these (or with them if you didn't have them on the original plates) so that at least when the scrotes trigger a speed camera the photographic evidence will show that the plates are on the cloned car and not the genuine one. Same for photographic evidence from filling stations re fuel thefts or any other crime involving CCTV evidence." .

  23. Crab Lungs, you talking about Thierry Henry wearing a nasty shirt makes me wonder if the nasty stuff of their place transplanted itself into him and that is why he cheated when France beat Eire in that WC game.
