Well, if Russell does get a job, Leicester, it will be interesting to see if he comes in for Stephens. We will see if the way he spoke about him was just bullshit or if he really meant it. If he was serious he's gonna want to buy him and have him as his captain. Thats the straw I'm clinging to anyway 😂

Hopefully he wont need to. With KWP, Ramsdale, Bednarek, Aribo, Fernandes, THB almost certain to be gone, Big Les back to Chelsea, and very possible Tall Paul, Arnstrong, Downes and Dibling leaving the squad numbers will be drastically reduced. He'll be bringing in at the very least half a new starting line-up so, players coming in with all the attributes needed may finally shake this soft boy "son-in-law" crap thats hung over the team for far too long. Of course we'll still be left with a lot of crap nobody will want but doesnt mean they will be starters come August. Obviously it will take time for them to gel, adapt to his style if some of the players arent used to it but signs of recovery should be pretty obvious early on, results will then hopefully follow. I am not expecting to go straight back up, and tbh I'm not sure in the scheme of things that would be a disaster. Failing to go up the following season or at worst season 3 would be however.

I’m thinking going straight back up next year will be beyond them given the rebuilding job required. Given how it worked out this season that may not be a bad thing but they can’t afford to hang around more than 2-3 years. It’s a crucial time for Southampton, they need to get this right.
