To be honest Russball played at a much higher pace and with less fucking about in or on the edge of your own penalty area can be quite effective and dare say enjoyable. Unfortunately RM was not for budging even a little bit and more than contributed to his own downfall.

Beacuse they got carried away with the promotion. They thought they had cracked it and this guy was gonna be wanted by bigger clubs cos of the way he masterminded a 4th place finish last season. Same way McCarthy and Fraser both got brand new 2 year deals as well. They didnt wait for reality to click back in. That was their big mistake.

I think you have to take what RM says with a large pinch of sale on most things. I'm hoping that not on this occasion though.

I have serious doubts about the fitness of the squad, its strange that the first 20-25 minutes of games is usually our best spell or when we look half decent. I suppose with Russball the idea is you make the ball do the work but yes, where its such a slow meandering method of playing the players dont tend to be high energy. Its not even like most of the subs he makes on the 60 minute mark are needed cos they cant be tired, or if the traioning was geared towards fitness they bloody well shouldn't be.

Pretty much the reason I havent been to the last couple, add the journey to and from as well which Sotonians dont have added to the misery.....although getting into the city itself is pretty bloody painful these days.
