Uh oh There's a light and pyro show before kick-off tonight...
-
Hopefully we get a Christmas miracle and QPR can win at Ipswich
-
https://theanalyst.com/eu/2023/12/championship-predictions-season-december-2023-24/ Some interesting predictions from Opta's Championship Super Computer. We're still an outside bet for top two but we've got play-offs nailed on basically.
-
The only thing that stops us winning this game is complacency. Hopefully the fact we've closed the gap so quickly to Ipswich will be motivation to keep going, especially as they have QPR on Friday and will very likely get back to winning ways themselves. Think it will be tougher than Blackburn or Swansea games but we'll still win comfortably. 3-0
-
Our home form has been so good that we're getting back to the days under Adkins where you'd know we'd win before kick off. Early goal and we cruise to a 3-0 win and we can rest some key players in the second half.
-
They did the same last season in the Championship as well, there were a round of matches on the Thursday after the Christmas and they had two games in the evening, one at 6 and one at 8.15
-
I don't think we'll see him again until the Walsall game personally.
-
Bednarek, Bazunu, both Armstrongs, Aribo, they hardly pulled up any trees last season. Ryan Fraser was shit in the Prem. Ings would be an unbelievable signing for any Championship team.

He's as popular there as he was here

No, the threshold increased last week from 5 to 10 yellows.
-
Hopefully we can put behind us our recent habit of drawing 1-1 away to shit teams and pick up 3 points. If we do want automatic promotion, this is a game we have to win. Hopefully buoyed by the news that one of Ipswich and Leeds will definitely drop points before we kick off so 3 points may equal 3rd place or 3 points closer to automatics.

A comparison to previous Championship seasons after 22 games

Ipswich have to play Leicester twice still, and have Leeds in their next game. If we can close the gap to them even to something like 6 points by the end of January, that would be OK. -

The bed wetters are out in force I see At home we've been playing some superb attacking football recently. Hopefully another first-half blitz as we've seen recently. -
FA Cup Third Round - Alfreton/Walsall (h)
Pamplemousse replied to Pamplemousse's topic in The Saints
Is confirmed for 3pm now. The replay is tomorrow so we'll finally find out our opponents. Hope it is Alfreton -
Back to winning ways I reckon. Ricoh Arena will suit us, big pitch, same size as St Mary's, and we've got a big away following. Hopefully today's disappointment will spur them on, and we'll do something we've not done this season and win by more than 2 goals away from home! 3-0 comfortable win
-
I don't think the tactics were off tbh. Watford didn't put us under that much pressure. It was a long ball that we should have dealt with, and a routine shot Bazunu should have saved.
-
Disappointing outcome, although a draw on paper before the game wouldn't have been a terrible result. We'll definitely get play-offs and maybe being this far behind won't be a bad thing psychologically come the end of the season, instead of Ipswich or Leeds who just miss out on automatics by a point or two and can't recover mentally. If we come in a solid 4th, I back us to win the play-offs. Yes I have had a drink.

FA Cup Third Round - Alfreton/Walsall (h)
Pamplemousse replied to Pamplemousse's topic in The Saints
Not necessarily. International broadcasters can move games, so the full schedule will be announced next week. Last season, our game at Crystal Palace was moved to 12.30pm for international TV. -
Alfreton 0-0 Walsall at half time

FA Cup Third Round - Alfreton/Walsall (h)
Pamplemousse replied to Pamplemousse's topic in The Saints
It isn't impossible of course but you'll need a few upsets and the big boys to face each other. And then, as above, it's likely one of the mid-table teams would win it. When the 2008 winners won the FA Cup, the other semi-finalists were three Championship teams! As well as cheating, they got lucky in that aspect. -
Swansea have sacked their manager and Nathan Jones is the frontrunner apparently! Could make our Boxing Day against them very interesting indeed.
-
Hoedt own goal and red card would be nice

BBC and ITV take turns each year to host the draw, so I think the scheduling is up to them -
Atmosphere in the Chapel (and in general)
Pamplemousse replied to niceandfriendly's topic in The Saints
Yeah definitely. I can understand if we sing it against Swansea given that his goal sent them down but it was hardly like he even was an important player for us like MLT or Lambert
