Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Pamplemousse replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
I'd go if it wasn't midweek. Just one of those things sadly. Full respect to anyone who is going. -
B team playing this afternoon. Ballard and Payne are playing but Morgan isn't. In the squad for tomorrow then?
-
What sort of team do we play for this? Hope we see a couple of the U21s.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Personally I think Perraud has been one of our more consistent performers this season. I'd rather have him at full back than Lyanco -
Aggressive doesn't necessarily equal great. My neutral mate who watched both today and on Saturday said we play like a Championship team. We give away far too many stupid fouls, a number of which have cost us.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

It's only 1-0. I still believe. It's a semi final, the pressure is all on them. Hopefully our new striker will bang in a hat trick -
Absolutely criminal from our board that we just can't sign a striker. Heads should roll. Inept doesn't even begin to cover it.

Is there a Peter Crouch type out there we could go for, given our new manager's obsession with long balls?

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Will allow it as it is a semi final and arguably the biggest game at St Mary's since the Liverpool semi -
Was rumoured for the Belgium job, dunno what came of that
-
I'm going to give him until the end of February. If we're adrift and keep on losing, especially at home, it would be time to cut our losses and get someone in to prepare for next season.
-
Question for everyone - if we go down, should we sack or keep Jones? For me, I wouldn't want him here.
-
Referee was disgusting We need to sign a striker and the fact we haven't is poor management I remain unconvinced that Nathan Jones is a good manager We March On
-
We finished 15th the last season he was here and then 15th the season he left. Selling him was correct; not replacing him was the problem.
-
JWP wouldn't be half the player he was now if it wasn't for Ralph. Weren't we going to sell him to Watford? The fact is Romeu and JWP was one of our best midfield Premier League partnerships of all time and that is down to Ralph.

The decision to sell Ings for £30m is looking more and more like an excellent decision Ings gets to play in Europe as well. Can't begrudge him that. I suspect our name was just thrown out there by agents to drum up interest and we were never interested. I could be wrong of course.
-
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, £15.
-
Could do with Palace losing today. Their fans aren't best pleased with Vieira at the moment.
-
I did think that if Villa were to let Ings go, and it was to us, they would wait until after we play them before doing so. They're not stupid, why strengthen us with all the insider info immediately before their game. Personally I don't think we'll sign him but obviously it would be fantastic.
-
Exactly this. Duckhunter seems to think he's on some sort of victory lap which is very bizarre considering we're still bottom of the league. Personally I'm just happy we're winning and have a bit of momentum. Sadly some people seem to think winning means being contrarian all the time and then lording it when they feel like they've been proven wrong. Strange but hey ho, each to their own.

We need to start winning our home games. Last time we got a point in the league at home was against Arsenal!
-
Beginning to accept I may have been wrong about Nathan Jones. Win against Villa and I'll be on board the train
-
Heading up there now Maybe I'm still drunk from last night but honestly I'm super confident.
-
Yesterday was an incredible performance, and Nathan Jones deserves plaudits for what is the biggest win in his career. However, the theee league games since the World Cup have been unacceptable, and I cannot forget that Forest game in a hurry. If he gets us playing well in the league and we move up then fair enough. But I'm still sceptical that he is the long-term solution. I do hope I am wrong.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Pamplemousse replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
The home leg (I think) definitely will be the Tuesday because Man Utd v Forest has to be the Wednesday The day of the second leg will depend on TV games for the FA Cup as that's the previous weekend. Hopefully it will be announced ASAP. I'd love to go to one or both but I think with work it's going to be challenge.
