  1. Plus he fell over when he could have won it for us against Arsenal... Honestly most "world class cb's" in the league have struggled with Lambert, the ones that have done ok against him have been raping him for piggy back rides with the ref providing the lube... He is our best striker because he has everything bar that yard of pace. He offers a lot more than Rodriquez in the same position because his movement and arial ability is one of the best in the league (party his ability to not jump for things in the air seems to baffle almost everyone and lead to chances on the floor). All he needs is the 3 support attackers (Lallana, Gaston and Punch or who ever is in the positions) to end up in more forward areas and goals will come more easily for the team. Individually I would like Lambert to hit it one or two more times a game, so much power in his shots which he just needs to try for goal a couple more times a game for him to look like the real deal again
  2. The poster formally known as Dune? Also the whole article smacks of someone as asked "do you like Gaston Rameriz?" someone at the club has gone "he's quality" and then they have made up a story that doesn't exist....
  3. "or would that be too much like trying to goad a corpse?" had me laughing Interesting to see what we can do as by all accounts we should turn up, play our game and hammer them. Hopefully we get that sort of performance instead of the complacent Sunderland one...
  4. That video just reminds me how some fans get about Chaplow, the bloke arguing the case for Scott Canham (who ended up making less than 100 professional appearances and messed about in non-league football) was just too funny and too like some football fans...
  5. Cool! A bid for a 20 year old Danish CB! Co-ownership isn't too much of a problem, just have to make a bid to the dominant club (Juventus I think) and then the other club has to accept an equal bid for the other 50% of his contract. Nothing like the mess from Gaston which we did eventually sort out anyway. Interesting bid either way. Guly was a good deal... He's been an important part of the team since he turned up... Class above L1 and arguably better than the champ! He has learnt a lot with us, especially how to play many different positions. Can't really see what he has done that is bad. Gaston may not quite look a £12m player, but then again very few who get that sort of fee do straight away. Considering he is in his early 20's there is a lot to come from him...
  6. Hopefully the point to prove is Paul Lambert not fit to manage...
  7. Ah but that doesn't account for the massive influx of sky money, so we might break even this year but next we will end up with a shed load more money that will look like a big taxable profit, if we are using it to pay back a loan though it becomes part of breaking even in the future, so we pay less tax both now and in the long game. Can only assume we are playing a long game with the finances to maximise profit at the company with minimising unnecessary outgoings (assuming tax is higher than loan interest, which should be a fair assumption). Anyway it shouldn't be a worry, we haven't signed Jermain Defoe for £18.5m with 9 other players all expecting 50k a week so it's not like we are loaning to stay afloat.
  8. Companies get taxed on their profit, operate with no actual profit (ie have to loan against future earnings) means no tax, which means a net gain overall. Something like that anyway means the club (like most) wont loose money on trivial things like paying excessive tax on earnings...
  9. Spent all their money for years on magic beans (and overrated english players). They couldn't even stump up more than 2m for Clint Dempsy... Indicates they have no money up front and are getting laughed out the show because of it.
  10. Buttner has looked more like a LW being forced to play LB (bit like Rafael to he honest). Best to be glad his agent wanted more money (or his dad if the stories were true) as he probably would have ended up like Fox on the scrap heap miles down the pecking order.
  11. Has he signed yet?...
  12. I would only be worried if Cortese wasn't interested any more and left. Our transfer policy has been well thought out and well budgeted since promotion in the sense that if we go down every player can be sold for more than what we paid (if needs be). Even then plenty of them should be on contracts that would be manageable in the champ (for a year) which should prevent a fire sale of talent. I would be worried if we were QPR or West Ham who are struggling for revenue from the crowd or struggling for chairman investment. QPR will implode if Tony Fernandez gets bored (no way can that 19k stadium pay the wage bill) and West Ham need their chairman to actually invest instead of borrow against the prospect of having a 60k stadium... We have a decent revenue stream from the stadium, international brand awareness (that we are building) and some chairman investment (all those shares from the previous debt should help a lot). So yeah, not massively worried. No 30 year olds on 40k a week playing 1 game a month between injuries and enough money coming in to make sure we can pay everyone.
  13. All of Birmingham? Been on plenty of good days/evenings out in the city and there are hundreds of decent (and cheap) pubs in the place. I assume the one mentioned on the ground guide near to the ground is good but there are plenty around the main train station which is 10 mins from the ground.
  14. Good deal, shame for the confusing year for the guy. At least (hopefully) it is all sorted for him now though.
  15. Yeah that is true but thankfully it is just a bid so far, nothing further than that yet.
  16. It's the FA cup, doesn't mean all that much this season. Staying up has to be the one and only priority really.
  17. Has he signed yet?
  18. About a day behind the hcdagjfu thread (and the Butland thread). Probably a media double bluff so we don't have to pay so much for someone... Or that Boruc will just be left too it for a while.
  19. Dorrans has been told he can leave WBA.... Could be a good midfield option Bah a page too late for that one.
  20. When Butland in goal at Brum is preparing them for the dizzying heights of Preston North end and Colchester... It's pretty clear Butland is another one for the future but there is no point creaming our load over him before he has had a chance to actually play and develop his skills (especially when Birmingham's financial position is getting worse and worse so we wont have to pay over the odds soon enough for a keeper that currently is no better than anyone we have).
  21. BBC have annoyed me on this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20905628 Since when has prolific been redefined as "scoring 79 goals in 293 appearances for Bordeaux"... Less than 1 goal in 3 appearances is a. not prolific, b. pretty poor considering it was France and c. great news for West Ham as they can have someone else a bit useless up front. I stand by he's rubbish and will be on a comical wage when they end up in trouble fairly soon with Joe Cole mucking the show up too.
  22. Good for him! Hopefully he gets some game time with them as he gave the impression against them in the league cup that's all he really needed to get on a roll.
