John Williams would be a fantastic appointment. Yes please.

Ramirez sub changed game last week. Week before vs Burnley his subs changed the game too??

Saints stay 9th. Dejan and Gaston off on stretchers - both with oxygen. Saints surrender a two-goal lead and lucky to leave with a point. Thoughts...

If you want all of Cortese's signings leave you can kiss goodbye to: Boruc, Gazzaniga, Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Hooiveld, Yoshida, Fox, Wanyama, S. Davis, Cork, Gaston, Rodriguez, Do Prado, Lambert, Osvaldo. Now stop being a prune.

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/01/16/ca-katharina-liebherrs-ascent-to-the-southampton-helm/ After a turbulent 48 hours at Southampton Football Club, I was told by my editor that I was needed to provide a piece on everything that's happened lately (not much, eh ), and take the story back to the start, when Markus took over in 2009. I've summarised, best as I can... 1 - The Liebherr Era - (2009-present) 2 - Cortese's impact on the club 3 - The club's progression 4 - Katharina Liebherr's arrival 5 - The potential future of the club I hope you find the read enjoyable and informative. It is a long one, but I put a fair bit of time into this one. Hope I've summarised it and not left anything glaringly obvious out. Think I've given a fair appraisal and am quite pleased with the piece, personally. SA

Best Southampton chairman I can remember. Okay he was a bit of an arsehole, but he was our arsehole. All the best to you Nicola, and god bless you for rescuing our beloved club and returning us to the promised land.

Katharina Liebherr: no interest in football and may sell club.

She's Markus' daughter. That's it. There is nothing on her online. No bios, no photos - nada. She was at the stadium at the start of this season, and received a tour. That's all I know. Never seen her myself. -
It it kind of a joke that we don't even know what our owner looks like.

Just scored 4 goals in about 30 minutes. Was 2-0 to AC Milan... ..now Sassuolo 4-2 AC Milan. His 16th goal in 17 games this season. Still only 19.

The article from this weekend's programme, for those who weren't fortunate enough to get a hard copy of it. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/pochett1no-1290509.aspx

How cool.

Adam Lallana scores the winner in the 66nd minute after a beautiful assist from Gastón Ramírez. Boruc with a massive save in injury time. Good substitutions from Mauricio were important today. Saints hit 30 points and remain in 9th place. Seven points ahead of Hull City and Aston Villa in 10th and 11th. Three points behind Newcastle in 8th, who play Man City tomorrow. Over to you...

Anyone see Holloway's comment when asked about Mel and other La Liga managers coming to the Prem? "I'm not one of these foreign fellers who gets a job because he's known Jose Mourinho for 10 minutes. Or met him on a train."
-
Stats from WhoScored. Shows we certainly are deserving of a top-half place, and continue to move in the right direction. Hard to argue with the top five players too, had it not been for injury, I'd have suggested Clyne and Boruc in the top five though. Thoughts?

Poch to leave at end of the season?
Saint-Armstrong replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
The account that started this off is 'Murray Groves'. I've done a bit of digging... He's not a registered agent and doesn't appear to be associated to any agency. His posts are all about football business, with nothing personal and with no personal photos. There are no other photos that look like that person, and it's a small photo that's been downloaded... and has a signature top right. Someone's on a wind up. -

Pochettino laughs off talk of quitting Southampton this summer: http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/01/09/ca-pochettino-laughs-off-talk-of-southampton-exit/ -
That's a nice little set up, I remember coming across it on iPad - it looks good on there too! I'd suggest using some higher res pictures, if you're in control of that.

Biggest Saints goal of the last 4 years....

To chuck another one in... Rickie penalty against Millwall away. -
Rickie. He has a pretty flat head, it can go on there. Artur would be the one drinking Budweiser out of it.

Saints are quite right though, in that latest Mail article. It was said by loads of pundits at the time that Riley was making a huge rod for his own back, and the backs of his officials. Clubs now get indignant and think they'll get an apology. We've had several compounded decisions, then the Lallana comment and then a patronising reply - hence why the club is getting on its high horse. I'll back the club until this whole thing has concluded, and then I'll cast my judgement.
