Anyone Else Uneasy About The Money Side Of Things?
alpine_saint replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Its not a wind-up at all. The haggling suggests we arent that financially strong if we have to do it, because we are risking delay in the reinforcement that could guarantee us big TV money next season if we stay in the PL. And of course, if we go down due to those haggling delays, those outlays we have made will definitely bite us on the arse. -

I had to read that twice to check someone had the balls to write that in the times we live in... -
Jesus, is that your justification ? None of them except Clyne has proved themselves beyond doubt. And Mayuka ? To me, the only unequivocal signing we've made is Yoshi, and even he took time to settle so theres an argument for doing the business earlier.

Anyone Else Uneasy About The Money Side Of Things?
alpine_saint replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Uneasy about splashing the cash ? No Uneasy about how the failure to close early deals suggest we are squabbling over the exact amounts like haggling at a Moroccan rug market ? Yes Uneasy about what happens relating to these financial committments if we go down ? Yes -
No, it will be because we continually neglected our defence for 6months, starting from winning promotion. And wasted the earliest possible opportunity to do something about it.

Its not my policy at all. I said already we should move on to Target B if we feel the deal is wide of the mark in terms of value. But we have had the time to do the ground work, clearly, so we are pratting about. And to say we improved during the last window and did some meaningful business early is f**king hillarious. Btw, its not my insecurity I want satisfied, its the teams.

You opinion is typical complacent low-ambition Saints fan hubris. If we are sitting in 18th place at the beginning of May, adrift of Villa by 1 or 2 points having lost or drawn against them away, will that 1m look expensive ?
-
Why is it 3m ? That is complete guesswork from you to try to dismiss my argument. But yes, the Villa game is big, its a 6-pointer, so having a CB for that game is crucial imo. Very bored with the complicated argument, its not complicated at all. Offer the valuation and the personal terms and its over very quickly. If you really think you are being ripped off, move on to target B. Oh, and the Ramirez deal screwed up the rest of our summer window for arguable return, imo.

Then we dont have the financial clout to clear those obstacles, imo.

Frankly couldnt care who takes me seriously or not. Our transfer track record is self-explanatory. We either dont take it seriously or dont have the clout to complete. -
Yeah, I dont get it.

Nope. Cant be patient. More and more games are slipping by. NAs comments sound a bit like lip service to me. "A meeting" ? Yes, you are right, I know nothing for certain. But we have a dire track record, including last summer for identifying urgent areas and completing things quickly, which suggests a lack of proactivity. -

Not worth replying to, or unable to do so ? You disagree about our relative standing in the transfer market ? Elaborate on how I've got it so wrong...if you can. -

At least DD enages on the subject amongst his trolling. -

I'd take care referring to Astori if I were you, especially as word coming out of Italy is that we have failed to reach personal terms. -

Clearly self-awareness is not one of your strengths either. -

Troll, troll, troll. Everyone who doesnt see your blinkered view of supporting Saints is a troll. How completely lacking self-awareness you are, seeing as what you are doing is the real trolling around here. The Ba deal, compared to our pratting about in the transfer market, is the perfect example to demonstrate the gulf between us and the powers of the PL. Money talks, and we are second-rate. Therefore we employ a niggardly aggravating approach to transfer activity which almost certainly leads to most targets lost. You really need to deal with this. -

You have nothing of value to add to the discussion, so keep the abuse to yourself. -

Liverpool ? Everton ? Stoke ? Newcastle ? We "compete" with them, do we ? If you are happy with the zero-ambition d*ck waving of 16th or 17th place, good luck to you. I dont believe staying in the PL is a satisfactory end in itself. What's the point in it ? Many Saints fans, even on here, have indicated that the previous 2 seasons were some of their happiest supporting Saints. The odd upset over Manyoo or Liverpool of our previous PL period seems a dim and distant memory... -

Right, so now we cut to the chase. Despite the slavation and resurrection from Markus and Nicola, we cannot expect to compete at this level. We simply do not have the weight we need in the transfer market to secure the players we need to make progress. Once everyone comes to terms with that particular frustration, we will be a happier club. Maybe there is something in Daleks "yo-yo" argument. Too big for the NPC, too small for the PL. Personally in that case, I'd rather we whupped arse in the NPC every week. -
So you left early and had gobbling trouble with the bird instead of with Gandalf and Bilbo ? Classic Bearsy post - good stuff.

Going out on a limb here, but mine is Lets Dance. Dont like all the make-upey platform boots metasexuality crap that preceeded it. But then I was really wrapped up in the early 80s Japan/Sakamoto/Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence/Lets Dance stuff which explains my preference.

Which means Chelsea agreed to a valuation Toon allowed in his contract - 1 stumbling block removed by Chelsea being prepared to pay out for what he could bring to the team. Which means Chelsea quickly agreed to the personal terms Ba was expecting - 2nd stumbling block removed by Chelsea being prepared to pay out for what he could bring to the team. So, the question beckons : how serious are we about holding on to our PL place, or dont we have the money necessary to do so ? -
