  1. But apparently we dont need anyone in Januarary.....
  2. Feel free to take the p*ss as much as you want. If the team hadnt felt like that for the last 2 months of last season, we wouldnt have got promoted.
  3. "sounds almost lazy" is an attack ? F**k me, you're touchy. As far as I am concerned, we are in the driving seat for promotion, and therefore we should be redoubling our efforts, more than if we were sitting in a relegation spot, to ensure that we fulfill our potential. I take every game we lose as the end of the world, and I would be worried if NA doesnt think the same way. There is something seriously deficient in the desire and committment of any player or fan who thinks "ah well, we lost that one, plenty of games left". That sort of attitude is what got us into the mess in the first place. Oh, and as for TDDs "never mind, you tried your best" mentality, that's what I say to my kids. This is a professional sports club with huge amounts of money involved. The two things are completely different. To borrow a comment from manji, it seems some want our patriarchal, comfy, unambitious social club back...
  4. you making any sense in one of your posts.
  5. I detect a bit that some of our fans are getting a little too comfy with our position; this statement is the most extreme example of that, it sounds almost lazy...
  6. Next few weeks will go a long way to proving whether we will be there or thereabouts come May. I am cautiously optimistic, but am a little worried by our showings against Cardiff and Leicester. I hope NA has done a lot of work with the defence over the break.
  7. Got a tough month coming up...
  8. I love Oxford Street. Everytime we went out in Soton during the summer, we went there. Maybe it misses a fully-fledged dancing joint, but my wife and I got with the spirit in the London Arms on a Sunday night. For a place full of wooftahs, I was a bit taken aback how often my missus got chatted up while I was at the bar, loo or DJ..
  9. This. I thought rugby was supposed to have gone professional.
  10. Maybe years of the fan-base being conditioned to SFC grasping defeat from the jaws of victory and turning silk purses into sow's ears has something to do with it...
  11. Well, for a start he will be missing for TWO games, you can put money on that. So England loses the one player it has that can turn games around. And if the final game is against the first seed in our group, and its Holland or Spain, then we might end up getting two draws and getting the early bath. I suppose at least we will put out of our misery earlier and wont get the dellusions that we are in with a chance of winning it...
  12. Reckon you have it right. Personally, if I were Capello and the English FA, I would get on the blower to FIFA/UEFA and seek confirmation that he has a 3 game ban for violent conduct. If he does, I wouldnt bother including him in the squad. He's f**ked up enough championships for England already, and would be a dead-weight for the group stage, and deny England the chance of including someone else.
  13. That's England's European Championship finals campaign f**ked up before they've even got on the plane. Simply embarassing.
  14. How about Pakistan and India ? That one threatens to go nuclear...
  15. for who ?
  16. If that is all its based on, why bother with nominations ?
  17. I can see how you drew that inference, but it wasnt intended, sorry. I meant society's perception.
  18. That's right, we had the biggest Navy and biggest Army, all to help little old ladies across the road, in whichever country they may have resided.
  19. If is OK to do it to a bunch of "ragheads" in the Middle East, its OK to do it to a bunch of "frog-lickers" in S. America. If the West is going to be arrogant, patronising and patriarchal, lets at least be consistent !!!
  20. I wish he'd come along earlier... I moved back to Soton from Austria in autumn 2004. In May 2005 we were relegated. For me, something changed about the city then. We'd lost a major source of our pride, the city lost some its lustre. I finally came back to Austria from Soton because of a number of factors in spring 2008 (was the state of SFC one of the factors ? Possibly...). I have made a few visits since, the last was in August. Then, for the first time, even though the UK is an economic funk at the moment, I thought the city had got its bounce back. I might be a bit over-sensitive, but I think we have Markus (and NC) to thank for that.
  21. B*ll*cks man, this isnt an episode of Star Trek. This story is repugnant. F**k respecting culture, this is WRONG.
  22. So, is she a lezza or is she straight ? She cant seem to make her mind up.
  23. You mean Jonathan Ive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathon_Ive
  24. Yep, he's deffo put us back on the footballing map. I keep thinking how tragic it is that he cannot see the table position and the smiles on the faces of the people of our town. Well, maybe he can, dont know. If heaven and hell exist, we can be pretty certain which one he is sitting in.
  25. In fairness TDD, this conversation is like playing poker with someone who knows what cards you are holding.
