  1. True, but I wouldnt put money on it. Regards your first point, I still dont see that having pre-season training running is a pre-requesite for signing players.
  2. Indeed, I reckon some of fans would get bored if we had a good start...
  3. Its hideous. The front number makes it look right mongey. Is the front number a new League requirement ?
  4. I dont see the relation between the two things. Are we expecting Ricky Lambert to jump ship and go and work on an oil rig in Alaska, or something ? NA and NC know who is coming back, and should have identified what they need for next season already.
  5. We were the best team in the league by a long way and finished 2nd. That is underachievement to my mind. EDIT : That doesnt mean I am any less chuffed about being promoted...
  6. No way are those Pompey games going to stay at those dates and times.
  7. Really ? so you think without the cr*p last pre-season and Pardew leaving after Rovers game instead of on June 1st, that beating Brightion to 1st place would have still been beyond us ? It was 3 pts in it at the end . Only one f**ked up game from that starting half-dozen needed to be different....
  8. The problem I have with the opposing view in this case is that there is plenty of time for our squad to be depleted still. I consider it highly unlikely that all 3 from Morgan, Lallana and AO-C will be here come Leeds kick-off. So to say we can make do for a while with what we've got is a bit previous. Especially considering our form for leaving trasnfer activity too late.
  9. Its simple logic that so many seem to have a trouble grasping. Instead, they grasp at convoluted "what ifs" about who might later become available or impact on fees for players later, or if Uranus comes into conjunction with Michael Owen's schlong..... The bottom line is, if we have our typical pre-season, everyone will turn up at SMS for Leeds game without a clue as to who the starting XI will be, and will observe a team out-of-steam in 70mins.
  10. Sorry, comparing winning the p*ss-pot trophy and getting promoted from L1 to competing, if not getting a play-off place in the NPC, doesnt even bear serious consideration.
  11. Ron, thats a fair point, but would you put money on us announcing a signing on 2nd July ? I wouldnt.
  12. Lets take a wee look back a previous seasons, where I said the same thing and the same people made the same sneering remarks.... We started in 2008 with no recognisable experienced CBs against Crystal Palace We started in 2010 with a crippled squad and a totally disinterested manager And those are the first 2 that come to mind.... Our belated activity in 2009 was, of course, understandable..
  13. What, the mis-placed complacency and sneering ? Indeed it has...
  14. ....could it be because we leave everything, especially our f**king transfer activity, to the last minute ? Thanks to Dunc for the idea for a thread...
  15. Heaven forefend you put 2 and 2 together and get 4, Dunc.....
  16. Is it getting hot flushes and sudden uncontrollable explosions of temper ??
  17. Another good post on the subject. Seems some of our fans are stuck in a timewarp from 8 years ago...
  18. This. We dont need to sell, if we do it will be on OUR terms. What a refreshing change from the Lowe era...
  19. Are you actually a Saints fan ?
  20. 1. Pahars 2. Killer 3. Niemi 4. Monkou 5. Golac Golac doesnt come further up only because my recollections of him are a bit dim-and-distant. Mentions in dispatches (made a big impact/impression but had a down-side) for : Ronnie Ekelund (not here long enough) Hassan Kachloul (turned into a mercenary *****) Eyal Berkovic (was a great player but had serious ego issues)
  21. Sorry, dont believe it. The only part of a nuclear warhead in need of regular servicing is the tritium resevoir, which decays with a very short half-life into helium, which actually acts an inhibitor to the secondary nuclear detonation in a thermonuclear warhead. This has given rise to the common perception about nuclear warheads having a "shelf life". Replacing the tritium resevior (actually, it is more like a decontamination by filtering and then topping-up) is well within our capabilities. Btw, whilst you are banging on about Lockheed Martin, you do realise I hope that it is British (BAE Systems) owned, dont you ?
  22. Sorry, thats completely rubbish. We have always produced our own warheads at Aldermaston. Yes, they might be based on the W-76, but we service them. And in addition, the chevaline project to extend the life of Polaris was a British project, so we know what we are doing.
  23. Sorry, dont get this argument AT ALL. Yes, the US Government could strangle off our independent nuclear deterrent in a fairly short time, but the 16 missiles which are at sea at any time are self-contained and capable of being fired without any intervention from the UK (or the US) and can be fired upon agreement of the Captain, XO, and Weapons Engineering Officer. If the US tried to tear up the long-standing agreements between teh US and UK, we would come up with our own deterrent, even if it was just nuke warheads on Tomahawks, loaded on to Trafalgar subs.
  24. All I know is the season ended a month ago, pre-season probably starts in a couple of weeks, and we have done our usual f*ck-all by this time... Yes, yes, lets see what the PL teams decide about their purchases and players surplus-to-requirement first , at least we havent got a WC to use as an excuse this season...
  25. 1billion worth of Harriers sold off for 34million. What a bunch of tw*ts this Government is run by.
