  1. Those two places are populated by British citizens who have a right to expect to be protected by their country. Their rights are also enshrined in the UN Charter. Nice to see you take your citizenship and freedom so for granted that you would deny it to others.
  2. A link to make you weep.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2003673/Falklands-War-hero-HMS-Invincible-goes-knackers-yard.html
  3. Yes, but David Prowse was the body double for Darth Vader. The difference in size between Prowse and Shaw could not be seen because Shaw was lying down in his scene. I noticed that Shaw was replaced by Christiansen in the celebration/ghost scene at the end of Return of the Jedi:Special Edition.
  4. British government have made the pursuit of saving money turning a net cost for the country into an art form... Even Thailand has more operational aircraft carriers than us. A total embarassment, along with the news that came out this week that the Fleet Air Arm is dependent on an exchange program with the French Navy, and our pilots flying Rafales to keep up our training and experience in carrier operations until the Queen Elizabeth is ready. I STILL think those 2 carriers will never enter service.
  5. I agree with dune about this. The story is based in a time when use of this word was acceptable. The reception of the code word for the breach of the Möhne Dam was a historically important moment. In addition, there is a significant movement in the U.S amongst the black community to take back ownership of this word. We going to be changing films about Nazi tyranny or Roman tyranny or Egyptian tyranny to stop any unintended offence ? But then I cannot say I am surprised by the change for the film. For me, it is patronising black people to change it. It demonstrates no respect for their own sense of proportion and common sense. Black people living in the West in the 21st century are above such bullsh*t, imo.
  6. One of the comments on there is really charming...
  7. No, sorry, I dont buy that. Its a simple matter; in the various campaigns of the last 20 years, not enough planning as to what will be done when the fighting is over has been made. The "bombing" has itself not bee the problem. Winning the peace is in some ways the more tough battle than winning the war. Take Iraq. After the invasion in 2003, the US should have been re-instating electricity, water and santiation, not putting up mobile phone towers.
  8. I was dismayed at how we managed to be so bad during the 2006 WC in Germany (going only with Owen up-front and picking Walcott but never using him was absolute bonkers), but the outrage I felt at Portugal's stitch-up of Rooney prevented a complete parting-of-the-ways between me and England. Then came Mclaren. That finished me off from being an active England supporter. Wil never forget the umbrella and coffee cup against Croatia. Then came Capello and his obsession with sticking his tongue up Lampard's arse, and one of the worse midfield arses to put on the Three Lions to boot. Last years embarassing absolutely p*ss-poor showing against Japan in Graz in the build up to SA (stomached LIVE for the sake of my two eldest kids) and then the further completel embarassment against Germany in SA made me an active England hater. F**k Capello F**k Rooney F**k Lampard F**k dodgy goalies F**k ENGLAND
  9. Stranger things have happened at FIFA. Like giving 2022 to Qatar...
  10. You are full of sh*t. The UK, Italy, France and the US (to a lesser degree) have determined exactly that in the case of Libya. They have decided that they can help bring about regime change by bombing. they are attempting to hit targets that would weaken Gadaffis grip on power, and are not deliberately targetting innocents, something you Gardianistas consistently and spectacularly fail to grasp. The only reasons that they arent trying the same thing in Syria are that they dont have the business interests to protect, there is sod-all chance of lucrative oil contracts, and they are sh*t scared of Iran taking over the country by the back door. All cyncial "realpolitik" reasons that people like you find so easy to discuss in an abstract manner, but all of which make this little boys plight all the more disgraceful. If you dont like me expressing my revulsion over his case, sod off elsewhere and post. I find comments that try to minimise the tragedy of his case by saying almost "well it happens elsewhere too" absolutely disgusting.
  11. Does anyone really care if England dont make it to Euro 2012 ? I couldnt give a toss if Brand England dont make it, its not about honour anymore anyway, its all about merchandise and TV rights. The players are all too tired and under club instructions to make any effort anyway. F**k them...
  12. A O-C would be bonkers going to Liverpool. Their star has completely waned in football over the last 20 years. If he has to go, it should be Manyoo or Arse. For at least 10m cash.
  13. The price scheme looks like a reasonable attempt to balance the needs of the fans and the needs of the club. The installment plan is a bit fiddly, but it is clearly strucutred to avoid defaulters. Seems that really p*ssed Cortese off season before last...
  14. Yes, because the child wasnt the target of the bomb, but he was of the shooting. This distinction is also defined in law as the difference between murder and manslaughter. You can try to justify anything like the bleeding-neart Guardianista you seem to be portraying, but the bottom line is that this kid was deliberately singled out and horrifcally abused and murdered.
  15. Sorry, I draw a distinction between poverty caused by the extremes of capitalism, and kidnapping a child, breaking his f**king neck, cutting off his goolies, beating him black-and-blue, stubbing fags out on him and shooting him several times...
  16. Wow, 1 hour for the webmong response. You're slipping. You wont hear me moaning though...
  17. Well, Sarkozy, Cameron, Berlusconi and Obama seem to think its OK and worthwhile in Libya...
  18. you know deep-down that he aint going to be around much longer, just like the rest of us. Search your feelings, you know it to be true..
  19. If you want a higher level of football, you are going to have to pay for it. It aint rocket science.
  20. Always amuses me how people can talk so dispassionately about realpolitik when its something happening to others in "nig-nog" land... A boy, not much older than my eldest son, was treated like a f**king lump of meat. I worry about a world where people can shrug their shoulders at this sort of thing.
  21. What the f**k is your point ?
  22. Well, whilst I share your sentiment, there is already a couple of threads on how revolting they are on General Sports. This news article turned me cold this morning, and I cant get it out of my head.
  23. Have a word with yerself. Reader and Woodford had it easy in the top-flight compared to what Cortese is going to have, seeing as the the top half of the PL are now owned by assorted billionaire oligarchs.
