You are such a patronising arse. Whats wrong with some us wanting to start the season with a flyer ? We might have been promoted last season, but the pre-season and the start was the usual Saints F**k-Up Special, and because of it promotion went to the wire when most experts were expecting us to win the League and get promoted at a canter back in August. I am not expecting or even desiring promotion or playoffs next season, I would be perfectly happy with mid-table consolidation. But I still think the highest probability of that is having a settled squad, familiar with each other, but also strengthened with a bit more quality to prevent the likes of Walsall away happening again.

Good post, Prof.

Yep, you would have thought a 5-year plan includes preparation for the next step every time a milestone has been reached...

This place is always sh*t during the summer. No football to discuss. I feel the frustration in me steadily at the lack of news coming out of SMS about our intent for next season.
-
Superb. I missed it first time round. Did you or anyone else ever get a reply ?

LOL. Never forget I was passing through Leicester Square on the day of U571's UK premiere, and joined in the protest going on outside the cinema.. -
Yep, he's an attention-seeking twot.

Apparently its coming up this weekend. If you should happen to look in on highlights of it during the news, spare a thought for the poor Sotonians who have bankrolled this family for the last 700 years... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton "The town was sacked in 1338 by French, Genoese and Monegasque ships (under Charles Grimaldi, who used the plunder to help found the principality of Monaco)."

Given away then. With NC at the helm, I dont believe it anyway.
-
Yes, I agree with this. It is already clear that NC sees it this way due to the lack of our transfer activity.
-
I got lambasted about 2 weeks ago for lack of transfer activity, but got told not to panic until we reached July 1st without any signings. 3 days and counting....
-
At the moment I am more chuffed that I might catch a game..
-
Borussia Dortmund is the game before for them; decent tickets are 26 quid for that game.

Watch Blatter do nothing about corruption for the rest of his tenure, since he can now point to the departure of Warner as evidence that he's done something and cleaned up FIFA's operation.

Yep. One of the few British woman singers to have made it in the US, pity she wants to be Sid Vicious.
-
Hell of an assumption you've made there...

Erm, results ? promotion ? having more players in the Team of the Season for L1 than Brighton ? Goal difference ? Btw, no team is perfect and is immune to improvement. Even the likes of Ferguson and Wenger would say that.
-
I characterise that attitude as the fastest route back to League 1.
-
Well, we've had different players, different managers, different stadia, different owners. The only universal constant has been the fans. And looking at the majority of the comments on here, it seems clear that the fan base doesnt regard a good start as important, and lets the club get away with low expectations at the season start.
-
OK, so you both think "moaning" is justified if we havent signed anyone in 2 weeks time when pre-season training starts, do you ?

Just been looking at the bible for our kits again : http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm Did we really go 5 years with the Patrick kit ? That would be unheard of now. Has anybody ever seen in reality the two distinct 1976-77 versions ?
