  1. Points over the last five years: 46 36 39 52 43
  2. How's that going for them?
  3. Yes, that is correct. Your point being?
  4. Who said anything about rejoicing? We haven’t even signed his replacement yet. If Obafemi is part of the AA deal and we get rid of Long somehow, we may even get two more attackers in. The point is we appear, on the face of it, much stronger at FB already and other than Ings we’ve lost nobody of any importance.
  5. You can’t be upset about the second half of last season AND be upset about selling some of the players who were responsible. Ings has 6 league goals since Christmas, that’s nothing incredible. Nobody is particularly confident but let’s at least see who we end up with before deciding we’re weaker. We’ve just signed Chelsea’s academy player of the year to replace Valery or Stephens covering at RB.
  6. There’s a month to go in the transfer window. Should we not maybe, you know, see how that goes first?
  7. I’m not sure what else anyone would expect. Gao isn’t putting money in, we can either be stingy and hope we invest better than three others or do a Pompey.
  8. There is no ‘we’ in any of this, we’re no different to any other club. If someone offered Man City £1bn for De Bruyne and £1mpw in wages, he’d be gone. It’s happening with Kane and Grealish, it happened with Beckham and Ronaldo at Man Utd, Torres and Coutinho at Liverpool etc. etc.
  9. We’ve sold a 29 year old, injury prone version of Beattie, with one year left on his contract, who didn’t want to be here for £30m. I’m actually mildly impressed, I was expecting it to be nearer £20m and to Spurs.
  10. Well spank my arse and call me Geoffrey. I never saw that coming.
  11. The only away game we won all season was in that shirt.
  12. A straight jacket would stop us giving away so many hand balls.
  13. I’m not confusing anything, we aren’t different ‘shades’ we have differing genetic qualities. If you go back around 100,000-400,000 years (estimates vary) we all had a common ancestor, most likely in East Africa somewhere. If you go back 50 million years, you find the first ancestors of all modern primates. Anyway, the point is is the same basic, tribal behaviour.
  14. Correct, basically. I briefly alluded to it on another thread, but I believe what is essentially racism was an important part in our natural selection. The descendants of modern day homo-sapiens were one of a variety of homo-erectus subspecies but we became the dominant genus. In effect our ancestors survived by being the most aggressive, to the point that all our other relatives died out. There’s a reason why if you go to the zoo the gorillas, chimps and orangutan aren’t in the same enclosure - they’d all kill each other. In short, I believe racial tolerance is a learned behaviour, not something we are born with.
  15. A degree? I will say it with absolute certainty. Racism was a necessary part of our evolution, like a number of undesirable behaviours. It won’t be going away any time soon.
  16. Meh. TBH it’s got to the point now that it’s just meaningless and I don’t really notice it. A bit like when players make the sign of the cross, pray to Allah or any other ritual.
  17. I didn’t realise Twitter had an audio description service.
  18. Has he got itchy boobs?
  19. Please be Pompey. Please be Pompey. Please be Pompey. Please be Pompey. Please be Pompey. Please be Pompey.
  20. Don’t be thick, everyone knows the Tories are desperate to kill off a large number of elderly voters.
  21. SSN reporting that Kane hasn’t turned up for training today.
  22. TBH I'd just like to have some good players for a change. If we 'only' make £20m profit on them, I can live with that.
  23. Spent the whole afternoon trying to suck the vaccine out of my arm with an empty syringe. No joy so far.
  24. That’s open to interpretation though. It could mean we wanted to keep him but his attitude was such that we felt compelled to get rid of him.
  25. ….. born in the mid Cretaceous period.
