  1. I think Vest is basically the love child of Willem Dafoe and Steveo from Jackass.
  2. You keep saying this (sarcastically) but I don’t think I’ve actually seen it being mooted by anybody of authority or standing.
  3. I think everyone's made whatever point they needed to make by now.
  4. Yeah, I’ve got this mate in Chennai who says the government pay him 2000 rupees a day to lay on top of a burning pyre and pretend he’s a Covid corpse.
  5. Because he’s not some teenager from a provincial Peruvian town who needs some familiarity to help settle in. He’s a senior, professional football negotiating a multi-million pound contract. He speaks English. He doesn’t need some other Viking to discuss lusty maidens with over buckets of Tuborg.
  6. It wont have any effect.
  7. Small statistical milestone coming up - Currently just under 900 in hospital and dropping by around 20 per day. When it drops below 770 it’ll be the lowest number since records began in March 2020.
  8. I’d be surprised if CM is where we spend any of our limited budget, unless Diallo has some issue we’re unaware of and wants to leave.
  9. Need Swansea to come up really, going to be a nervy summer if one of the teams beginning with ‘B’ wins the playoffs.
  10. Basically the Police were called to a disturbance and within about six seconds of arrival this scene was captured on body cam. The two photos are in reverse order, separated by about one second and the policeman fired the fatal shots at the woman in black at the time the left hand photo was taken. BLM have declared this the senseless Police murder of a joyful child, who loved making TikTok videos about doing her hair. I was just curious what the general consensus was on the issue.
  11. The point is that you're asking an industry on its knees to go to great trouble and expense to implement a procedure voluntarily. They're not going to do that. Passing the cost on to the consumer isn't going to work either, at a time when airlines and airports are desperately vying for each others business. Unless somebody actually enforces this as a legal requirement, it's not going to happen.
  12. You think the Police shouldn't have shot her?
  13. Injury time winner that season they went down with 42 points, IIRC.
  14. https://blacklivesmatter.com/makhia-bryant/ Thoughts on this incident?
  15. Unless somebody is actually going to pay the airlines, airports and other contractors to operate this way, they aren't going to do it. Most of them are barely staying afloat as it is with what's happened in the last 15 months.
  16. Cost.
  17. I learned the hard way when I went camping with my family, aged 12. We just wanted to play swing-ball.
  18. It's kind of like a secret club with their own rules and handshakes. Basically, if you're on a camp site, any couple who has erected a swing-ball pole outside their caravan is up for a bit of hanky panky and voyeurism. You just have to knock 5 times, any time after sunset. General etiquette is to bring a trifle or cheesecake to share around after.
  19. I think we've now gone full circle ref. gender pronouns.
  20. The best available as in, the best we can get within our budget. We may not have the budget of the supposed Super League clubs but by virtue of simply being in the PL we've got more financial clout than the likes of Ajax, Celtic, Copenhagen, Anderlecht and a bunch of other European giants.
  21. He wasn’t. The point is that we haven’t gone out to try and find the best coach possible, we’ve appointed someone who’s already here out of convenience and it’s most definitely ‘jobs for the boys’. It seems to be part of a culture of giving jobs to people who are supposedly popular in the dressing room, like Long and Walcott, which I’m not a fan of.
  22. I think it's naive, wishful and probably a little arrogant to think you can influence somebody's entire philosophy on life just with some simple slogans and gestures. They only have the meaning which you give them. Just look at the debate SKD has been involved in on this thread. He's quite unequivocally opposed to the knee, so there's one of two possible things going on here: He's a raging racist. Well, you've clearly done nothing whatsoever to change his mind despite years of endless gesturing and slogans. Unless you believe he's suddenly about to flip and see the error of his ways upon seeing the knee for the 47th time against West Ham, I think we can file this under 'Not Working'. He's not a racist, in which case all this has achieved is a load of pointless bickering and people who were never the problem to begin with are now the target of the campaign. I'd like to think it's option 2. Obviously there are people with racial prejudices out there but it's not my place to fling accusations around. Whatever you believe personally, you'd have to agree that in either case, it isn't working. Regardless of what you might want to believe about getting the message out there and making people confront their prejudices, that's clearly not the case.
  23. Do I have any idea what Kelvin Davis brings to the training ground? No. Do I find it just a little bit convenient that one of the best available coaches in Europe just happened to be a goalkeeper who'd been here 10 years already? Yes. Is it a bit of a coincidence that we needed to hire another coach at exactly the same moment that Kelvin retired from playing? Also yes. Do I think he's a major reason for our current problems? Probably not.
  24. Not happy with this, personally. I don't think he's done anywhere near enough to warrant another contract here and haven't rated him for years. Odd how he's, "one of our own," when there're no better offers on the table but when Everton came in and trumped our bid with a bit more money three years ago he was one of someone else's. Anyway, fingers crossed a 32 year old has a sudden upturn in form and fitness I guess.
  25. I think the most impartial explanation I can think of as to why the whole BLM issue is so divisive is this: Supposing we flipped it from being a predominantly left wing movement to a right wing one; A bunch of white guys set up a movement called, ‘No more paedos’ and begin actively promoting it. Slowly it gathers public support, they set up a website which casually includes a ‘Brexit means Brexit’ logo. It starts getting celebrity support... Trump, Farage, Morgan, Hopkins, Robinson... all the usual favourites. Trump suggests building another camp where they can lock up Mexican paedos trying to cross the border. Farage suggests that over 10,000 have come in legally from the EU. Hopkins advocates sending all those ‘brown’ paedos back to the country they came from. All lovely stuff, with exactly the same arguments and counter arguments. "Just because we’re taking a knee for NMP doesn’t mean we support Trump," "people keep saying we’re fascist but they’re too thick to even know what that means," "we’re supporting the message of NMP, not the organisation NMP, FFS!" Clearly, if you’re of any kind of liberal persuasion you aren’t going to support ‘NMP’ but does that mean you think it’s okay to abuse children? Of course not. I think that’s the crux of the matter; you can’t simply label yourself as something and then demand public support. Not when factions of your movement, under banners bearing the exact same acronym, are displaying such undesirable, sometimes extremist, attitudes. The Premier League would have been so much better of just sticking to ‘Kick it Out’, IMO.
